- (서울=연합뉴스) 송영인 PD = "롤모델요? 딱히 없는데...미래의 우리 자신 아닐까요?" 신인그룹에 단골 질문이기도 한 롤모델을 물었더니 당찬 답변이 돌아왔다. 카드(K.A.R.D)는 오랜만에 등장한 4인조 혼성그룹. 신인그룹은 레퍼런스 그룹이 있기 마련인데, 카드는 어떤 그룹의 행보를 따라가기보다는 자신들만의 길을 구축하겠다고 했다. 당당함과 패기가 넘쳤다.
신곡을 발매하고 가요계에 등장한지 겨우 2개월. 패기 넘치는 자신감은 어디서 오는 걸까. 통통영상 스튜디오에서 멤버들의 이야기를 들어봤다.

a I honestly hope and pray they get famous and wealthy enough to buy the rights to their name from DSP. They are too precious to deal with an incompetent company.
Unless you can bring me some receipts of them doing right by their groups, I will continue to do as I please thank you very much. Groups screwed over by DSP: Sechkies (now with YG) , SS501, KARA, Rainbow, Ajax, not sure about Finkl but if they were good to them why wouldn't Lee Hyori stay with DSP?
Jay I will give them that they are doing something right ...at the moment. I also will give them credit for putting out really talented groups. But in the long term doesn't change how I look at their management and promotion style.
To answer your question as to what I am trying to do, I am thinking about KARD's longevity and being strategic about it. I am the same age as BM and J.Seph. We are all 24 turning 25 this year and already 26 in Korea. In 5 short years we'll be 30 and in 7 we'll be 32 which is probably when their contracts end. Time is critical and by then you more concerned about building and owning something for yourself rather than working for someone else.
The girls I feel more secure about since they are both 21 turning 22 and 23 in Korea. Somin has shown she has endurance and knows what she wants and suits her. That I respect. I am looking forward to watching Jiwoo grow and reveal her dreams and goals to us.
What I'm saying relates to the initial comment of them making their own roads/paths. To me that looks like doing their 7 years, buying the rights to their name and finding a new company or 'make their own'.😉
Nneka O DSP did some mistakes in the past but we cannot deny that without them Kara or fin.k.l would never existed and now with KARD they are taking a big risk to change Korean musics and the stereotypes about coed group they are the are the only company to have the guts to create a coed group despite knowing the risk even me as a kamilia I don't like dsp very much because Kara should have known more succes but I will always thanks them for creating Kara I think your comment was too harsh on them they are not the best but they also gave us amazing song and amazing group
Jay What chaos are you refering to? I have a different opinion about DSP media. How is having a discussion about this seen as chaos or threatening in anyway? I am advocating for KARD's longevity, career, and autonomy. That is reason enough to think 7 years down the line when your livelihood is involved. They do the 7 years and we'll see if they choose to stay or leave. They stay so be it. They leave then thank goodness but again that is my opinion. I'm entitled to it just as you are entitled to yours. At the end of the day, I don't trust DSP Media.
I actually can't imagine BM nor Jiwoo in a boy or girl group respectively, I think both really fit the co-ed group Image

처음 혼성그룹 결성한다고 했을때 다들 원했던 게 있는데 그게 아니라 조금 아쉽고 두렵긴 했을듯. 하지만 정말 혼성그룹이기에 멤버 하나하나가 빛나보입니다. 말그대로 시너지 효과가 엄청나요..! 제가 입덕한 이유!! 남멤버들은 남멤버끼리 힙합하고 싶었을 거고 여멤버들은 여그룹에 들어가려고 준비했겠지만 지금 이 상태가 정말 멋진 아우라가 나오는 것 같아요! 좀 더 성공해서 자신이 상상했던 모습은 유닛으로 보여주면 사람들이 더 알아봐 줄겁니다. 항상 응원할게요 화이팅!

They are so cute! I really like how open and honest they are about their comfort levels as a co-ed group. I don't see any of this fake it til we make it stuff but they all seem very genuine and even nervous to have all of this attention on them. Which is TOTALLY not a bad thing at all. It's in fact, pretty charming and endearing lol. I'm going to start following them. 😊😊😊😊😊

KARD is like a k-pop rebirth. I love not only the songs, the voices, choreo and KARD members. I love the way they act answearing questions. They seems to be free, authentic and confortable. I was realy tired of that way other groups answear things saying all the old same things. I hope KARD remains the way they are: walking their own path the way they like to do.

Thank you so much for the interview and english subs. much appreciated. abt the changing room, i remember seeing in another interview, where they're asked the downside of being co-ed group, and BM n Somin said there's no downside but Jiwoo n J.Seph both mentioned the changing outfit space part. hopefully they'll get a more comfortable changing space fixed for them. and I keep seeing ppl saying abt kard's quote on that 'path' thingy probly cuz of the end part...but apparently seems like it's from the interviewer n they're impressed to hear it as well...haa. and when BM was answering about the reason they're not in music shows yet...i thought he's gonna answer 'because we haven't officially debuted...(duh)'...i mean isn't that obvious? and i feel DSP deserves more credit n appreciation than ppl are giving them for K.A.R.D's existence and awesomeness we're getting now. if K.A.R.D is from other top popular companies, i bet praises would be pouring for the company already but nope. well, K.A.R.D, Fighting! hopefully the next releases will be just as good if not better. Keep it going good, DSP.
