- Am I being cringe for sharing my MLP Fanfiction in a 44 minute video essay? Perhaps. Did I have a lot of fun making this video anyways? Hell yeah! :D

INSPIRATION CREDITS
The idea of spell-born heirs was an idea that I got from multiple sources, but it was mostly from the creation of Eliza Magpie herself and the Spellbornverse AU my friend made!
I came up with the heirs designs by slapping together the colors of the ponies they were created from. Atlas is Celestia fused with Sunset Shimmer, Luna with Starlight Glimmer, and Cadance with Amore!
The other three ponies I designed for the world of G5 were actually made with the help of my mom, so she was the one who came up with their color pallets! I was also very heavily inspired by the scrapped G5 concept art.
The idea of Opaline being Twilight’s former student is one of the popular fan theories I’ve seen being passed around, so I’m not 100% sure where I first heard it from, but I liked that idea way more than her being Flurry Heart or Radiant Hope, so it’s what I went with!
Those were my main inspirations for the fanfic, but here are some random fun facts about smaller stuff that gave me ideas:
- Vi’s nickname (Zelda Four Swords mango)
- Erebos & Eliza (MLP IDW comics)
- History Repeating (Me being frustrated lmao)

I want the main takeaway of this to be what I say after 40:54 in the video. As long as you love what you create, never stop creating. 💕
This video was very difficult to make; I’m not really sure what responses it will receive. Part of me is worried that I’ll get into trouble for my critiques of modern fandom culture, but the other part of me is relieved to finally stop bottling up all of these negative experiences.

The world could really use some more positivity, and I’m proud of you all for making this channel’s community such a friendly place. I find that Twilights behaviour in this fic is actually quite in character and the way you described everything made the decent feel very natural, we’ve been shown in the canon of mlp that twilight can kinda go off the rails when under pressure to succeed, so it definitely makes sense she went down this route in face of her kingdom literally falling apart lmao, anyway this is a super cool and creative fic and I love the idea of spell born ponies! Cringe culture is dead and we will desecrate it’s grave
I just want one universe where Discord doesn't just end up a loner after Fluttershy dies and where he managed to have offpsring with her so that he isn't alone but either at least one immortal kid or entire clan of mortal ponies with chaos magic.
Who said that Discord is alone? I may or may not have plans for him… >:) mwhahahah

Honestly, online fandoms have always had these types of people in them. Your experience in that mlp group just reminds me of all my experiences in fandoms over the years. It's kinda sad, really. Fandoms are meant to be places to be creative and have fun together, but the bigger the fandom is the worse it seems to become. It can really kill creativity, but I'm glad you managed to continue telling your stories despite everything! You're very inspirational!

And some people say stop writing fan fictions they have nothing to do with the show, you can write anything as long as it isn’t illegal or toxic , actually you can write fanfics that have a little toxicity in them as long as it isn’t shown in a good light, and people get so angry when somebody create something that they enjoy just because they can’t create it themselves.
what doesn't help in the mlp fandom's case is that it originally had origins in 4chan, its not all bad and a lot of those fans have since left but there's genuinely a lot of nasty people in multiple fandoms, but I've seen a ton of it in the mlp community myself.
realistically I just try to enjoy things from afar and don't get caught up in big major parts of those fandoms.

I love how nobody ever brings up how Twilight ended up being a failure in the end, and how failing to be an adequate ruler fits perfectly with her character, but when people do bring it up others lose their minds on those that do- if anyone tells you anything about portraying Twilight this way, don't listen to them. this makes the mess that is the connection between G5 and G4 actually make sense and is overall a good story.
Honestly that skit about your experience is SOOOO accurate. I’ve had a lot of bad interactions with the MLP fandom. In particular, someone got mad at me for starting an art fight before them because they had already planned to do one for that month and talked crap about me in public and the mods refused to do anything. Not to mention artist bias, which is an issue in all communities. If you can’t draw like an artistic genius, you’re art is crap. ESPECIALLY if you only do base edits. I could go on and on about how terrible modern fandom culture is.
Edit: I would LOVE to read Echos of Unity! Also, I’ll probably draw a few of the characters since their designs are super cute! I’m not a professional artist at all by all means, but I would love to do some base edits!

The skit gives off the energy of the ninjago fandom back in the day, oh my god there was this literal saga where someone got pissed that people were trying to ‘take control’ of their rp chat and tried to doxx people for making them depressed 💀

one time when i was rlly young i played a medicine cat on a server and someone else joined and became a medicine cat too and everyone forced me out of the role, i tried to make the argument that there could be multiple medicine cats and that we could all just have fun and stuff bc that’s literally the point of roleplay, but no one listened, and that is why i do not roleplay…
That warrior cats analogy was scarily similar to my experiences as an amino artist

The skit about your experience is unfortunately incredibly accurate to my experiences in the Warrior Cats fandom, but at least it was the early fandom on boards where we were all like 10.
I want to say the designs here are so much better than the new shows, I wish the creators could take inspo from you all.

Your time in the mlp role play community reminds of how toxic and gatekeepy fans can be of OCs. Especially in OCx Canon. "You cant ship your OC with (insert popular character here) my OC is already shipped with them!" I hate that kind of mentality. They are fighting over a fictional character it's so dumb. Fans may own their OCs but not the canon characters.
This video was amazing Rainbott! So I'm a fanfic writer, and since finding your channel I've been creating more and more stories. I always have fun with my projects, but I also have anxiety from trauma in the past (wasn't online, but trauma is trauma) due to this I get scared that when working on my projects someone or a group of people will hurt me over it. However, since finding your channel it makes me happy and I'm able to create more and more stories even new original ones! Heck you were what wanted me to push posting a crossover fanfic! Honestly, as a VERY long-time Ponygramer it makes me very upset to see how the community is today. My "Ponygram" has become more of a story account due to fear of getting involved with drama, especially since my orange lesbian horse princess is one of my favorite characters I've ever created. I try super hard to get as many interactions as I can, but it's hard to reach out to accounts you don't know sometimes. I try to be nice to everybody- I mean everypony I meet, but other ponies can really test my limits.
The only thing that keeps me in the Ponygram community is the friends I've made there. I even met you through Ponygram (Patty Cake was one of my main horses before I lost inspiration for her for reasons I shall not state in a RUclips comment).
I also LOVE how you went about this story! I can't wait to see more of these colorful horses! This video was really well made ESPECIALLY with it "being rushed" and while you were in the progress of moving. Great Job :D

AH oh my goodness! I love this story, especially since I was really annoyed that this new show brought in so many new things with little explanation and just connected it with G4 senselessly. the spell born ponies are an amazing idea and I love love their designs, and I like your explanation on how the world could lose all its magic. I personally have been brewing up ideas on what could've happened, and I've been hearing other ideas, and so far Echoes of Unity is definitely my favorite.
If you'd ever like anyone to draw the spell born ponies as babies or kids I'd be happy to! Or if you just need art in general, I'm not much for animatics, but I always love to draw some ponies :D

because I’ve actually experienced some similar things myself/seen similar things happen to other people in the community. Wether it be sent their way by more “prominent” creators in the community or just by other members in general. This is such a great story! I love how Twilight becomes a villain in a sense! (Discord did mention how ponies who gain powerful magic tend to use it for their own selfish desires or how you described it haha) I love it! I hope you continue it if you aren’t already!
I also adore the designs for all the new ponies, they’re very unique but still match the show’s style/designs! It sucks a toxic community tossed you out, but I think this just gives you the benefit of working on something much better!
I used to make a lot of mlp characters (99% of them were my own twists on nightmare moon😭) but then I sort of just drifted out of the fandom as I doing other stuff that I was more interested in (RIP Buzzardclan), but as I'm getting older I realize how intriguing the history and world building and overall universe of mlp is, so even tho I probably won't ever make a legit mlp OC, I'm definitely back in the fandom. I just recently got into watching your stuff and it's honestly amazing-, brings me a bit of hope when writing my own fanfiction/au, though I know it's not gonna reach this much popularity like this aha-.
thanks to your experience in ponygram tho, and even tho it's the first I've heard of it- I know what to stay away from in terms of sharing it around. so that is highly appreciated. I am sorry if you're still probably dealing with their bullshit after all of this. I also like how we share the same goal of letting pretty much anyone do what they want within the fanfic, to me it's like expanding the universe, and it's such a cool idea and something I always wanted to do. I always wanted to be a platform for others to branch off of, showing their creativity and love for a certain topic/fandom/franchise, even if it's completely original or based on something already existing. my recent hyperfixation has also been mlp, and I may not be as deep- I love both g4 and g5 as an equal, as well as the fandom surrounding it despite its flaws.
hopefully one day I can have my own audience to teach being nice to one another, to share and spread ideas of inspiration and creativity, and respectfulness to other creators, small and big. but I am a nervous wreck to ask for help in fear of me looking way too dependent and beggy. so it- it's a struggle. but i'm getting there-..

You know, hearing how you talked about letting others place their characters into this Au and that your fine with it as long as no one is mean about it really makes me wanna dig up some character's I've had hidden in my head. One is from the Everfree forest and the other actually lives with the Diamond dogs. I've wanted to use them for such a long time but have never found the motivation to do so until now, Your story feels so open and I can just plop my characters in with no worries. I am so sorry for experience in Ponygram. You're not alone as there has been many others who were forced to leave or delete their own Ponygram account because of hate and bullying. Hopefully your story and experience will make others realize that bullying and hate is not okay and needs to be put to a stop.

RIght off the bat, Im so sorry you had to go through that. I'm unsure of your age but whether or not you are young, you shouldn't be bullied for something you love. I used to draw ponies a lot, but my own friends at school sometimes made fun of me for it. It got worse as life progressed. I convinced myself and in a way forced myself to stop doing everything mlp related. It was misery and lying to myself, but I kept out of it for nearly 3 years. Now I started it again and it felt like I never left, and it feels amazing to draw again. I just wish I never had left, I missed the release of season 8 and 9, I came nearly 1 and a half late for the last episode. :(
I love LOVE this, you are giving everyone who ever wanted to have a free form of wanting to make stories, and I feel this is a nice base/ and or setting for creativity to shine through. Hell yes I'm making my own OC's for this AU. Hands down 🙌

Rainbott, hearing you talk about your experiences in the fandom is really inspiring! We shouldn’t let cringe culture or our fears cloud our creativity. That doesn’t mean constructive criticism isn’t welcome but this has actually inspired me to pick up my own fanfic.
It’s centered around Princess Flurry Heart AND it’s a crossover AU so I knew from the start I was kind of taking a gamble and actually gave up on it sadly. However, this video reignited my creativity for writing my fanfic and for that I’m grateful. Thank you Rain!

I think you have very good points. Also I’ve been doing my own kingdom with princes of time and space that rule it and the kingdom has a steampunk vib for all kind of creatures that play to their strengths. But all an all you au for what happens between gen 4 and 5 is very interesting plus I’d love to know more. We all need to just see fandoms as fun and enjoyment not hatesvile. Ponygram was honestly a good/bad experience for me, especially since once ( I don't know if you remember this ) I was bashed in my Instagram DMS on my ponygram account because people thought I was copying your OC since I also had pink, blue and yellow stripes on my OC's mane? that was what made me start to hate ponygram honestly.
It was really nice at first but it got so frustrating as literally barely any ponygram accounts wanted to collab unless you had a large following OR they just don't like you at all LOL.
