Love the theme, art and the actions/progression. I'm not sure about the dice action selection though. It goes from completely random to certain but I don't feel like I have agency. Or more accurately not enough agency to keep this interesting over multiple plays.
Hello! There are several ways to support agency in West Story, let me share a few. With more and more markers you add, some actions get higher probabilities than others. With each combo, you can mark a selected action with the symbol. With each town trade, besides executing an action on demand (to get missing resources), you also add another marker to prepare your tableau for next rounds. With each wild animal or a building card you have, you get higher chances of getting those combos. In addition, you can always spend your cows!
Seems like you could add a little more player agency without negatively affecting the game by ignoring the colors and letting the player choose which number is going top row and which is going bottom row. Lets players choose the better option for their turn.
