Joel makes a good point with Psalm 37:7 "Keep silent before Jehovah and wait expectantly for him, Do not be upset by the man who succeeds in carrying out his schemes." Psalm 36 and 37 clearly outline that he will remove the wicked ones when as many as posible of the "meek" that is teachable ones "will possess the earth." verse 11. Work on our assignment of caring for the earth and our relationship with our creator and let him change the rulership of he earth at his appointed time.

Thanks for posting this, Mike. I always like what Joel has to say, but I've always struggled because he bears a very strong resemblance to a man I knew in ministry who was not the man that Joel is. Listening to Joel talk about the King of Kings helped me to see him in a different way, and I appreciate it. Reverence is something we don't see much of these days, but the Lord is deserving of it. I love to think of Almighty God spinning the stars, planets, and galaxies just for His pleasure and in such a way they don't collide, and that same God sending His Spirit into my life to help me to grow and flourish under His guidance, also for His delight and perfect purpose.

If I may, I would like to offer a different perspective.
I respect that Mr. Salatin, and even the Dickson family, are hard Christians. I think it is a beautiful thing that they are so committed in their faith and live their lives within those guidelines. I have watched their videos as their family grew and learned a great deal about the skills needed for homesteading. Their core beliefs are evident in everything they do and that is to be admired. Faith is a multi-faceted jewel composed of so many different sides. It is an idea that unites humanity at some core level. What ends up dividing us is the dogma and doctrine that people use to practice that faith. I will admit that when watching the videos, any time Mike starts waxing poetic about the bible I fast-forward. It's not anything against his beliefs, just that I am not interested in that part of the content. I do that with all the channels I watch not just this one.
It should be noted that not every American is Christian. Insinuating that we are is incorrect. Not every homesteader is Christian either. To go one step farther, not every American and/or Homesteader follows any sort of Abrahamic based religious doctrine. In my own path, deity does not require you to bow down or prostrate. That to interact with, to know, to work with the divine you stand tall and meet them eye to eye. That isn't really a Christian mindset. Joel's comments about following a king highlights this. I was raised Baptist. I realized as an adult that Christianity was not for me. I have never regretted that regardless of the discrimination and hardships I have endured at the hands of so-called Christians since then.
Mr. Salatin made a comment at the Rory Feek festival in 2022 about how the reason he goes to those types of events is to be with "like-minded," "God-fearing" people. It was that comment, as well as the all the crosses and Christian themed talks, that made me realize I would never be welcome in that community. That even though I strive to homestead and seek a community, this one wouldn't want me as soon as they realized I wasn't just like them.
I have seen the change in peoples' eyes and tone when they find out you aren't Christian. The disassociation, the clipped words, the outright walking away and ignoring you when before they were friendly and open. The people who have treated me the worst in my life have all identified as Christian. And though many would think that those experiences would cause me to completely dislike all Christians I am well aware that the way those people acted does not mean every person who feels called to follow Christ would do the same.
What I have noticed across the various homesteading channels is this propensity towards homesteading being synonymous with Christianity. But it isn't. The reason we see this is because they are just the loudest. People like me tend to mind their business and just get on with the day to day living. Homesteading was around long before Christianity or Judaism was founded. The earliest humans learned about homesteading as they moved from hunter to agriculture. I suppose that I what I want to truly say here is that Homesteading is not just for people who identify as Christians, and trying to organize things around only that mindset alienates and ostracizes those of us who are called to follow a different path spiritually. We homestead too. Maybe there are those out there who are perfectly fine with this separatism. I would hope to think not everyone would be though. The world is a diverse, beautiful ecosystem made up of all types of practices and beliefs. It is a jewel and our differences should be celebrated even as we learn how similar we may be.
I bow before no King or Queen either in politics or faith. My deities walk with me, side by side, and I would have it no other way. This doesn't make me a better or worse Homesteader, it just makes me human.
Remember that non-Christians are homesteaders too. We are quiet because of the hatred thrown at us. Businesses vandalized, threatening letters, loss of jobs, even physical harm all in the name of "God." We are here and want to be included as part of the community as well. Please accept us as we are and don't leave us out. Homesteading is for everyone that wants it, not just a chosen few.
Thank you. I agree. Being Christian shouldn’t be a requisite for being part of the homesteading community, and using phrases like “we believers” when addressing a crowd disregards the reality that we do not all believe the same thing.
@@tedbastwock3810 I didn’t say I was offended. I wasn’t. I could be wrong, but I think Mike’s intention for the channel is to spread knowledge of Homesteading. If his intention is to spread Christian beliefs, that’s fine too, but he has to understand that some people have suffered due to Christian beliefs. Some of us will look away. It’s his channel, and so it’s his choice. Im just using my voice, which is my right, to speak up for myself and others like me. ✌️

There are too many inconsistencies in the Bible for me to believe that God exists. It is one of the great books of fiction however
The Bible is consistent, from the front to the back we see the same gospel message; Believe (in the only begotten Son of Yah), repent (turn from your sin) and obey (keep Yah’s instructions given through Moses). And you will inherit eternal life and live in perfect peace forever in his kingdom. Praying for you.
