If you truly want a complete and real review you need to watch Paul's reviews. Excellent job. Unlike other reviews who just play with the leather and then put a penny on the font and call it a review, Paul goes into detail. It's professional , structured, breaks down each and every category . Job well done .
I was caught up in high end, fancy, expensive Bibles until I entered the seminary. One of my pastor-professors told me once, "Don't worship the Bible itself. Plenty of farmers facing crop failures came in from the fields with dirty hands and flipped through an a old, worn-out Bible for spiritual peace and guidance." Well, I still have my Schuyler Bibles to marvel at but I use pretty beat up Bibles for every day use.
If you're going to beat up a Bible, it makes sense to make sure it's well-made and uses quality materials. It isn't worshipping the Bible itself to appreciate and enjoy fine versions.
The red line under the book titles--man, you have a sharp eye for detail. I never noticed that. I have the ESV fire-brick-red edition. I love it Excellent review.
Paul, Just wondering if you would consider doing a comparison vid between this bible and an Allan New Classic Reader ESV. These two are battling it out for my next purchase, and I'd love to see a side by side before I pull the trigger. Thanks for the awesome channel!
Allen, I would consider the purple to be a plum color. It is a rich purple, but not a vibrant purple. Thank you for the compliment Allen. God bless! Paul
Giant print 14pt Bible is missing from the Allan and Schuyler Quentel. I do wish either would consider this for everyone that needs a larger text. Very nice reviews. Blessings.
I ordered the green one, this will be my first Schuyler and really my 2nd high end Bible, as far as an Allan I had I wasn't really impressed (specifically paper quality) hope this one is good...
Do you know where I could get one of the green ESV Quentels with yellow ribbons and tooled ribs? I love this Bible and want one so bad. Not a huge fan of the new raised ribs and thinner size.
Nathan, they are such different bibles. The only real similarity i that they are both double column reference bibles. What I might recommend is weighing the pros and cons of each bible and making your decision. The Quentel is a better preaching/teaching bible than the NCR simply because of the better paper and larger font. I like the NCR because it is quite thin, almost thin line yet the paper is not horribly ghosty like some other thin bibles. The NCR comes bound by RL Allan which is a HUGE plus in my book. Both are solid choices. I don't think you will regret either one.
I have the blue Schuyler Quentel bible with 32 GSM paper. I have a fold on a page and I am wondering if there is anything I can do to repair this page. Do you have any information that may help me?
Hello Lori, Unfortunately there is no secret formula that I have found to fully restore a folded page. That said, what I have done is to bend the page back to the way it was, carefully close the bible, then stack a few heavy books or bibles on top of the bible overnight. Do that a few nights in a row and the page seems to regain some structure however you still need to be careful with that bend is now the bend is a weak point on that page and is more susceptible to tearing. Hope this helps. Paul
Nice review Paul, I'm curious to see how the text will be for the KJV? Wonder if they would keep the verse by verse type and italics. The only good thing about being released till 2016 is that they have time to improve on minor details like ribbons, paper, etc. God bless.
Victor Acosta Hi Victor, There may be some minor changes between now and 2016 when Schuyler is rumored to be releasing the KJV edition of the Quentel. That said, there are some things specific to the Quentel line that will not change. The Quentel will always be a double column paragraph format. The Quentel is a series in and of itself, and as such the general layout will not change. I do not foresee the typeface changing either. I do hope Schuyler pays closer attention to the minor details in future Quentel translations. It was disappointing to see the ribbons be a problem in the ESV Quentel like in the NASB Quentel. Beside the fact that they were not trimmed properly, both of my copies had the ribbons placed unevenly. They were crooked, and folded in on themselves where they protrude from under the headband. It is minor things like this that needs some serious work if Schuyler wants to establish themselves as a premium bible publisher. Thanks! Paul
Paul T. Yes I understand when you paying $220 every detail counts. Thanks for clearing up the formatting of the text. I'm debating on buying a KJV RL Allan Sovereign First Edition or the Schuyler Westminster antique mohagony any suggestions?
Victor Acosta I may be a little biased, and I'm probably jumping the gun, but if you're even considering the Allan 63 Sovereign you're on the right track. I have a feeling the Sovereign will be a very big hit. Not only is the paper getting an improvement to 36 gsm, but it will have the full Allan treatment in that gorgeous highland goatskin. I think the Sovereign will be the bible to beat in 2015. Told you I was a bit biased. :) Also, Allan will be releasing the Sovereign later this year in some very unique colors such as this cool looking Mustard Yellow. I heard rumors that a green Sovereign will also be available around the same time. I've got my preorder in. Now it's just hurry up and wait! Thanks! Paul
Travis Wake Depends which Allan you buy. The new Allan ESV New Classic Reader will have 36 gsm paper. That's a pretty big bump from the 32 gsm they are using now.
How can a person tell what the quality is of their inner bible pages is? Meaning, how can one verify what their paper GSM# is? It's my understanding that GSM#35,36 is excellent! And GSM#22 is that thin, wrapping tissue paper. Easily ripped, torn type paper. yikes.😬

That is very kind of you. Thank you Mr. Rosenthal.
Nice review! I got the green one and I have to say that is a very unique color, I really like it!
Great video review - very detailed. The Schuyler bibles look absolutely amazing. The green is especially well done.

Why wouldn’t you use the premium ones everyday though?

Those colors look gorgeous! Great review.

man it's getting closer. a few hours! I don't know if I want the blue or the green ESV
Thank you, Paul.
Hi Paul T., Thanks for the review - the Quentel's look gorgeous. Would you be willing to sell the Dark Green Leather? Steve Watson

What do you think of the British Tan color for a bible?
Thanks for the reference

how have your held up and do you use them? Brian McClurg days he's had Cambridge, Allan and Schuyler and all text blocks have failed and broke.
I own three Allans. Never an issue with the Binding. I have never heard of anyone having a binding issue, nothing withtext blocks either.

Paul T. The 63 Sovereign does sound very promising. Well thanks again Paul, you preordered the navy blue one right?
Yup. I'm a sucker for blue bibles.
is the ESV 2011 text edition used in the ESV Quentel?
Yes
Now I don't know which I'll buy if ever I get enough saved. Allan it Schuyler. I want to have a sturdy feel. Allan thin page worries me.
Travis Wake Depends which Allan you buy. The new Allan ESV New Classic Reader will have 36 gsm paper. That's a pretty big bump from the 32 gsm they are using now.
When does that release
Not until fall or winter.
I don't think I can justify the buy. LCBP is too good. Just wish they made ESV
any news about the KJV Canterbury by Schuyler?
I think as of now is they're above Allan. I've heard things about Allan. lots of problems
I own several Allan Bibles and have never had any issues. They have always been perfect.
The paper quality is very good. (On the Longprimer Sovereign)
it'll be interesting to see what the NKJV looks like though
purple
just my luck I get a defective one.

Get a kjv.
my gold isn't that dark and wrinkles in gutter...a few things. so disappointed
+badjuijui yes, they will as long as it's not marked in or scratched up from when you have it.
+badjuijui I received the NASBQ and absolutely love it. imperial blue is amazing.
+badjuijui they're the size of a LCBP 300 if you're familiar with those.
Bonded leather? No no no - should always be meriva calfskin
