Wow that’s awful news about GT. Thank you for the zoom back in the Time Machine tho….great memories seeing all those bikes. I really like how you don’t overdo your restorations. Great video, merry Christmas to you and your family.
@oldshovel the give away to me was seeing going from diy headset press to park tools press. Thanks for making entertaining bike content and giving back to the cycling community through refurbishing bikes and teaching viewers new things.
I still have and ride my 1990 GT Avalanche! Great bike decked out with Deore XT and DX components including the unique Shimano U-II rear brake. The rapid fire STI index shifters still work great and are ergonomically perfect in my opinion for braking and shifting operations. After watching this video I am inspired to give my bike some TLC restoration.
Riding MTB singletracks since 1989 is hard to understand what is happening in the MTB world today. OK covid created all that boom on sales and prices went above high and now every brand and shop is on sale. But theses big companies didn't expected that the boom had to one day go down? Yeah Gravel bikes are what people want know but I don't like Gravel and many of my friends also don't like Gravel. But why no one wants to ride MTB anymore? I think that the cicle will never end, someday something will open peoples eyes to how wonderful MTB is. Around 97 I had a full XT Zaskar and after I had a LTS that make me starting Downhill with a Z1 fork and watching this GT thing is kind of hard... I am a MTB mechanic and I am praying for this cycle to come back. Since I was a kid never followed fashion things, always did what I wanted not following the crowd. Was a sponsored BodyBoarder, after started MTB, than skate downhill longboard, than MTB Downhill racing... today I ride e-bikes cause my health is not that strong to ride Enduro bikes uphill. I just don't understand how the bike industry didn't predicted that after all rise there is a fall how they wasn't prepared for that!
Hey, have you ever thought about restoring a bike like you did years ago, and I mean with love and completion, then raffling it off on Raffall like others are doing?
GT did not file chapter 7 bankruptcy. The company's entire staff was not laid off. Yes some staff was laid off. Did GT follow chapter 11? No. Your reporting is misguided -not exactly ideal for the reputation of your channel.
Farewell, triple-triangle.

Interesting seeing your workshop and tools evolve.
I’m wondered if folks would notice that. Thanks for watching.

It’s a sad day. There was nothing I wanted more in the 90’s than a GT BMX bike. I have a GT road bike from the 2000’s that’s in good shape.
I don't cry for gt ...but i like kona and norco... RIP GT, always in our hearts....
Longtime GT fan here. I still have my RTS-2 that I bought new in 1993. Sad to hear about this.
I now love my humble Palomar even more
See one, see them all
