My name is Jens Larsen, Danish Jazz Guitarist, and Educator. The videos on this channel will help you explore and enjoy Jazz. Some of it is how to play jazz guitar, but other videos are more on Music Theory like Jazz Chords or advice on how to practice and learn Jazz, on guitar or any other instrument.
The videos are mostly jazz guitar lessons, but also music theory, analysis of songs and videos on jazz guitars.

Do you have a favourite chord sound that you try to use everywhere?
You can download the PDF for these here: bit.ly/PDFtranscription
I love the sound of a M7#5 chord- can you show us ways to incorporate it sometime please?
Thank You!!!!!
Jens, in the comments, you have a PDF of the chords, however I Cannot Access it. Please advise. Thank You 😊 🙏
@@dcunhaadrian what do you mean that you can't access it?
I just stick my fingers in random bunches...anywhere on the fretboard to make "jazz" chords/voicings...and as long as I finish up on the root...it seems to work 😂
Been doing that for 50 years.
Go for it :)
Great
Jens represents Big-Jazz and is trying to push all this fancy chords agenda on us!
I thought I was the only one. You do get an ear for it over time but I want to learn how to handle multiple voicings at once.
@@LuisEduardoBraschi 😂👏
Told my brother this was a "chill" song,he's been searchin for it for a good hour now
Thats hilarious. I bet he was super pissed
As a youngster at jazz guitar, thank you very much!
Glad you like it 🙂
Man... such heavenly chords
I love your lessons Jens, thank you brother!
Glad you like them!
I love that tone. It sounds like a guitar, but feels like a piano
Thank you 🙂
Jens, those harp harmonics at the end were a pleasant surprise 😎
Thank you 🙂

Wonderful 👏 👏 👏
Beautiful Jazz voicing
Having all 3 forms of written guitar chords is goated
Jens you are my favourite chord sound

dude, i love your small guitar lessons! it's always a pleasure to come home and learn something cool off of your videos!
Glad to hear it!
Perfect
I'm a keyboardist (sometimes i'm a electric pianist) originally and i took all this voicing and convert it to the keyboard. I can say my voicing jazz is better because of you!
This is the chords that i looking for 👍👍
Great! :)
Winner❤
Very nice thanks 👍
Most welcome 😊
I love these videos with the levels! Taking a step-by-step approach and showing how to add things to make a simple concept more complex is really great.
Glad you like it 🙂
At last I found beautiful harmony on the internet
Thank you 🙂
Beautiful man, thank you !
Glad you like it!
Very smooth ! LES
Absolutely FABULOUS!!!!!
Good job
Great for a door bell!! Thanks!

Gracias Totales
Glad you like it
Thanks! That's a lot of info packed into 35 seconds. I assume the level 1 chords are what's called shell voicing for the 4 note versions I memorized years ago without knowing the notes other than the root. Learning each note & its chord value is the first step for me. Btw, as I went through level 1 it seemed easier and more efficient to play the first three chords with middle, ring and pinkie fingers and save the index for the C6. Thanks again - this is a perfect carrot of a lesson for a lazy ass like me.
Go for it 🙂
This is so lovely. Thank you for this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That third one... Perfect
you’re still the coolest. of all time
Superb short lesson.
Glad you liked it!
Jens that's amazing, i love this examples - it's a part of my music too, thanks so much! Dolf
You inspired me by empowering me to play better jens. Thank you, from the very top of my heart to the bottom of my soul. You're a phenomenal guitarist, an amazing teacher, and a great person. Wishing you prosperity and good health my friend. -Kind Regards from Brooklyn,NY. Jazzy'
You're very welcome! I am glad you like it! 🙂
@@JensLarsen one day Jens, imma have you see me with my instrument on a promotion somewhere and go "oh wow, that kids used to tell me he loves my videos", and I promise you that 🖤
@@JensLarsen I'm gonna do everything in my power to make the non-Jazzers love jazz
Fantástico. Muchas gracias.
Glad you like it :)
Throw a soft hip hop drum beat behind this and you’ve got lo fi😅
Isn't that true for any Jazz chord?
@@JensLarsenyes
Something to practice with my 335 & coffee this morning - Thanks man!
Go for it :)
@@JensLarsen Quick question - Should I go "Flat Wounds" on my 335? I have heard they are fantastic for Jazz tone but are there any draw backs? Do you use them? Appreciate any feedback you have :-)
@@chrisr530 I use roundwound strings on my semi-hollows.
If are curious just try?
Touch my heart
Thank you! :)
Those chords are awesome 👍😎
Glad you like them!

@@JensLarsen i m love it
Beautiful
Thank you 🙂
Nice bro
Thanks
You rock
Love this… neat little work out!
Glad you like it!
Nice one...
Thank you 🙂
Nice
Thanks
Great you show the chords at a different angle as well. That’s really helpful if you try to build the chords. Front view doesn’t always shows the little nuances you apply to shape the chord with your fingers. If you can do more ‘simple’ chord shapes at different position using this angle would help a lot. Not many teachers do this.
Glad it was helpful!
Love it
Thank you 🙂
amazing 😊👌
Thank you 🙂
Beautiful. Learned the phrases and also sampled the individual chords for an MPC. Hope you dont mind. The samples wont be used w/o credit or to make money, but let me know if you object.
Excellent. Do something similar with a 1-6-2-5-1 format. Well done. Thanks.
Thanks, will do!
Обожаю джазовые аккорды
👍
Example #5 makes me think of Johnny Smith!
thumb can be very useful in such circumstances :)
Absolutely!
Wow you sound good 😊
Thank you very much 🙂
I’m gonna try it on guitar
Nice. Amazing what you can teach/learn in 35 secs. In a lot of videos there would still be 15 minutes of yabbing to go before even hearing a chord
Glad you enjoyed it!
❤
Like that
🎉
The first chord voicing is in Only A Fool Would Say That by Steely Dan. Right?
I wouldn't know :)
Bro that shit was beautiful
Thank you 🙂
Deadass bro lol
Hay teacher. Thanks for the lesson Mr. I have a question mr. The question is : can c G#7th chord be called as C#diminished Chord?
Just when I think I have a grasp on 2 5 1s
How do you get your guitar to sound like this?
Have you ever done any videos on guitar and amp tone?
Well, I did one last Thursday 😂 ruclips.net/video/pr-mTHlFlUE/видео.html
How soothin!
Glad you like it 🙂
Just learned 1 & 2 as my first jazz progression. How can I make my guitar have this affect?
What guitar do you play please.?!
Very good sound.👌😉
Thank you! That is my Ibanez AS2630 🙂
@@JensLarsen thanks Mister Master 🎸
Hello there 👋 I really like the sound of this, do you mind if I use this progression in a song of mine? I will give you credit if you want to. Thank you, best wishes :)
As a keyboardist, I’ve long been enjoying your videos. The theory applies equally; the search for good voicings seems a parallel endeavour, and the bebop lines follow entirely the same compositional logic. Thank you for taking the time to make your knowledge part of the shared musical capital. I have a question about guitar - I have not heard my jazz guitar heroes bending notes: lots of slides, but not bends.. I play with a guy who loves big bends. Is this considered a normal part of the jazz vocabulary on guitar?
Glad you like the videos! As you say yourself, it is not widely used in Jazz, so you can't really call it a part of the vocabulary.
@@JensLarsen Thanks for your reply. It’s reassuring to know that I haven’t just missed the jazz tradition that uses big bends and power chords due to my own narrow listening. :).
Сложные ноты и может, это с играть тяжело, но музыкант это знает выучил всё, и легко
Thanks "Julian".........
I guess the melody would dictate the voicings....... yes.....???
What tuning it sounds so.nice
Thank you! I am in standard tuning 🙂
hallo
🎉🎉🎉❤😢😊
Lofi
use a pick?
Not in this, I think
Mafic jazz gtr chord progression
Thank you!
The game over menu from Mario lol
What do you think of someone moving your video
IS this a electric guitar???
Super Mario World game over
Are you only pulling on the chords or strumming
Are you asking if I play with a pick or with fingers?
I hear this a lot in lofis. What are the names of these chord progressions?
Jazz chord progressions
@@JensLarsen umm no, i mean, the names of those chords, yeah i know that they're jazz but, do they have names? The 5 chords
@@halfofmg394 Yes, that's written in the video right?
@@JensLarsenohh, wait no im so sorry, my mistake 😅 haha, just realized that. I mean the name of the progression, not the chords. My mistake. Im not a musician so i don't really know anything like this, pardon me.
Sounds like some mario music.
I hate my iPhone 12……
I can see how you would....
@@JensLarsen perfect instructing video already, even better if…..the position.
Great thanks!
