- RIDGEWALK Granular Looper - Tutorial and Demo: Getting Started
apps.apple.com...
Ridgewalk is a standalone app and AUv3 plug-in. Ridgewalk lets you explore sound in unique ways not possible before. Meander between microscopic moments in a sample to create an infinite soundscape, or stretch or compress audio in realtime, all while recording and reacting to new input instantly.
Ridgewalk is both a looper and a granular engine. Output is generated by a set of independent microloopers that traverse a single buffer of audio. The audio buffer can be freely recorded to, overdubbed over, and reverted to a previous version, and the microloopers will transition smoothly and instantly. With control over the microloopers' size, behavior, and movement throughout the buffer over time, you're free to reimagine and reinterpret audio like never before - all in realtime.
Ridgewalk is designed as a modular tool for flexible usage. It is equally comfortable at the heart of your composition, collaborating with you as you perform, or as a finishing touch to provide a unique complementary atmosphere to deepen your mix. Ridgewalk is fully compatible with modulators such as Ableton CV or Bitwig LFOs to broaden horizons even further.
Ridgewalk has the following controls available:
Recording: Record via your choice of two unique techniques. Choose between automatic recording via input volume detection and a classic latching recording technique that can record infinitely. Buffers can be up to 60 seconds or 16 bars.
Overdubbing: Freely overdub on top of existing audio with two methods. Choose between a traditional feedback dub or a unique sidechain dub which compresses existing audio against new input. Playback will smoothly transition to new recordings instantly.
Layers: Each overdub creates a new layer, which you can then move between smoothly and revert to previous versions of audio.
Full recall: All recorded audio will be saved and reloaded when reopening a project.
Sample importing: Rather than record, Ridgewalk can import samples directly.
Volume controls: Independent volume trim controls for dry and wet volume.
Playback: Looper playback can be played and paused independently of input and recording. Playback will instantly reflect any changes to recorded audio.
Hold time: Looper playback can be automatically paused after a defined time since starting. This allows Ridgewalk to act like a strange reverb or delay.
Reverse: Playback can be reversed and audio can be recorded in reverse as well.
Looper size: Loopers can span from microscopic fragments of the buffer to the full size, and can be synchronized with your BPM.
Looper amount: Up to 7 microloopers are available, which move together in concert with one another.
Drift: Looper size and positioning can be randomly and independently desynchronized to add variations and unpredictability.
Blur: A one-stop-shop for increasing ambience: this controls looper crossfading as well as introduces reverb.
Repitch: Playback can be repitched from 2 octaves.
Random movement (Wander): Looper positioning can be set to randomly wander the sample over time via Brownian motion.
Sequential movement: Looper position can move linearly through a sample over a time defined in seconds or synchronized to your BPM.
Manual looper positioning: Loopers can be positioned manually via tap or click, turning Ridgewalk into a performative instrument.
Instant playback: Ridgewalk can start playing back from recorded audio as soon as it is able, turning its granular looping algorithm into a live effect.
Transport syncing: Ridgewalk can be synced with your DAW's transport to automatically start/stop playback or recording.

#RidgeWalk #Tutorial
Definitely a step up from Weeping Wall. The traverse and layers function could lead to some really interesting sound. Thanks for another excellent summary, Leo.🙏
Thank you
This looks really interesting for processing my guitar live and the layers function is a great addition!
Yes that is unique
What a cool granular looper ! Thanks a lot for the tutorial and giveaway !
Thanks
Very interesting for Ambient. Soon or later it will be on my iPad! Thanks for the introduction !👍😊
Great, thanks
Really beautiful in sight and sound. Great possibilities! Thanks!
Thank you
This looks to be ideal for experimental sound design. As usual, your thorough overview is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Looks nice to play with sounds.
👍👍
Was waiting for your take on this one, Leo. Excellent demo! Weeping Wall seems amazing for soundscapes, and Ridgewalk takes the looping to another level! I see that Aqeel has a bundle of both apps at a great price! 👏🙌
Yes indeed the bundle is good…
I'm curious about this one. Thanks for the demo.
Thanks
It looks and sounds great! Thanks for the tutorial and giveaway Leo 👍😀
Simple enough to use and effective… nice background…
@@soundformoreI like simple 😀
👍👍

Very nice. Thank you very much for this tutorial!
Thanks
This one looks cool, I love a good looping granular mess about.
👍👍
Didn’t expect to find an audio app that reminds me of an inchworm. Sounds like a really fun app to explore.
👍👍
Really interested in this one Leo. Keen to see if it adds anything unique compared to the other granular iOS tools we have available
The overdubbing layers and ability to go back to previous ones is unique and interesting…
@@soundformore Sounds great
@MachineSequence 👍👍
Another app that will work well in my studio set up. I haven’t got Weeping Wall yet, but both apps are on my get list. Thank you Leo
Thanks
Looks really useful for live ambient / atmospheric jamming. Will look forward to giving it a try.
Great, thanks

@@soundformore woohoo! Thanks
Hey Leo did you get my email? Haven't heard back from you yet.
@JonDiercks no email received… not in the junk
I bought it earlier today for £6 as I already had Weeping Wall, and it’s on offer as part of a bundle. I haven’t done much with it yet, but I did get some interesting results when playing different apps through it. I think that it was worth the money.
Yes it is a nice app
I love this one, it sounds beautiful.
It depends on rhetoric source of course :)
Nice app. Thanks for the demo
You are welcome
Wonderful 🎉
Yay
Hello. Very good granular and looper.
Yep
Very cool.
Great
Nice demo! Would have been interesting to mangle an imported sample file as well. Looks pretty cool tho. Thanks Leo!
Thanks
Awsome. Thx Leo 🙏
👍👍
Interested to try this out 👍
👍👍
A granular looper count me in. Btw I like the backgrounds this dev uses. No ones done that in an artistic way.
Indeed
Liking it a lot 😊 👍🏻. Thanks
Thank you
Looks interesting! ☺️👍🏻
👍👍
Great!, this looks very promising and different to the other iOS granular loopers, I hope I can win!
Yes a bit different, not totally different though…
Nice. I like the layering function.
Maybe the purpose of this app is not that, but it would be interesting to use it as an instrument too...
Layering in my view is the unique part here as going back in time to previous recording or sound impressions will make it special…
Somebody said somewhere else that this could be a good complement to Loopy Pro… I guess if I’ll have the chance to test it 😏
I prefer to use it inside AUM…
this one is nice
Yes
It seems similar to Fluss in some ways although this has overdubbing.
Yep
The possibility of sound design seem interesting
Yep
nice one!
Thanks
Slightly different approach to Weeping Wall but I like this one better not least because of the more comprehensible loop window and would definitely prefer it for ambient.
I agree
Must be great for ambient
Yeah
Thanks for the demo! It looks like an interesting app for building soundscapes etc., especially with the overdub. I recently won in a giveaway so please don't enter me for this one.👍
Ok great, are you enjoying it?
@@soundformore I haven't received the code yet, sorry. I sent an email but I understand you're busy and it's the weekend etc.
👍👍
Experimental and interesting

really nice appy hope win a copy :-)
Good luck
