Lecture 10: Equivalent Load on nodes in beam element

  • In FEA, loading can be only applied to nodes. If distributed or point loading is applied on the element, we need to find the equivalent loads on each node. To find the equivalent load, we simply find the reaction forces and moment on each node and then flip the sign to find the equivalent node.

    Thanks for video, Why is the equivalent load calculated on the fixed beam case always? Why not in the simply supported beam?

      That is the harder case as there are moments at the two end involved make the system statically undermined, the simply supported case is an easier system where reaction forces can be determined using equilibrium equations
