I tuned my ukulele but I don't know how to play it

I tried following this tutorial by Elise Ecklund ( • I'm Yours - Jason Mraz... ) but I don't understand how shes able to strum the ukulele so naturally every time I try to strum it I hit some of the strings harder than the others and then it sounds weird. I had to cut out the silence when I was playing this because the gaps were so long because I can't figure out how to switch the finger positions quickly enough. I also don't understand how you're supposed to fit more than one finger on one row at a time how is that physically possible.
