Heya Mr. Biggs, just wanted to thank you again for another concise guide. I was really looking for simple, bite-sized guide for madness after watching you nuke people in PvP. Your guides helped me improve as an IO Merc last expac and helped me top DPS in Warzones and in PvE content with the "Dots-FUF-Bonk" breakdowns, it's super easy for me to follow stuff like that. You're my go-to with type of stuff and I point my guildies to your guides, this one included. Hope to run into ya' in-game again soon!
As a madness/balance player for years i really want to say that you really should start with demolish at the start of your rotation, before your usual dots. There are 2 ways of achieving this. You either do a hard cast demolish to start the fight, OR you do 1 force lightning to get the proc (the increases the damage demolish do AND build the critical chance stacks on dots) and than go into a Demolish. From there it's the 2 dots, deathfield -> force leech -> force lightning x4 (OR x5 if the alacrity buff is active) and repeat. Remember, you CAN cast force speed ahead of time, because the damage buff doesn't get consumed on the instant dot applyings. The same thing can be said for recklessness stacks, use them right after demolish and they will be consumed when you get to deathfield and force leech. I think he forgot to mention that taking Death Brand, also causes you to apply a different raid debuff, making all party members deal more internal damage, instead of the usual 10% more aoe damage. Do not use Death Brand even on single target, if you know someone else is going to bring that specific internal damage debuff. And because of the dummy armor module you should also not dummy parse with death brand for the same reason. If you are the only one going to bring that debuff to the table, and it's a single target encounter, surely go for brand over unrelenting affliction.
trying to pick a class as a new player and I have settled on sith inquisitor. I see a lot of people saying that madness is really bad and not worth it, what's your opinion on it vs lightning in both pvp and pve?

couple things biggs missed for pvp: 1. take backlash, surging speed is very meh considering you are madness and cannot be constantly sprinting away (for survival) 2. eternal torment does more damage than downfall in aoe and enables you to take sustained corruption for some additional healing. very nice in ranked in the absence of healers. 3. overloaded strike does an actual fuckton of aoe damage and ticks tempest of rho on all targets. always use into melee stacks.
I feel like critical movement is actually crazy, it puts your force speed on a 9 or 10 second-ish cooldown which makes your PVE parse a lot stronger obviously but also has a lot of utility in PVP with emersion
You can use force speed while applying dots for a larger window. I usually pop it right after demolish (also on opener) going into creeping terror because if you’re rotation is perfect it should come off cd right after using demolish. Also a note for myself is; use demolish when death field cd is at 5 sec (does not count with ps active) Also I actually do 6 force lightnings with ps since it’s op with tor and your dot allows it. Very good guide! Love your content ❤️ edit: Oops. Forgot to add that I also use force leech before death field. So the 5 cd note for myself is only viable if you also do that. Don’t know if it’s better or not I just like the feel of it better
@@Supercomet13A with unrelenting affliction your deathmarks don't ever run out so it's pretty much a toss-up. the first leech won't benefit from the force refund but using the FL spam rotation will more than compensate for the one time deficit.

Personally I very much prefer a rotation with the Plague Master utility in PvE for several reasons: - It gives you insane burst for fast DPS checks - In pure points Shock hits harder than Force Leech so a crit through Recklessness hits harder, too - Your rotation, which is very similar to the Vulkk one, parses for me at barely 20k dps over the course of 1 full Polarity Shift cooldown at IR 327. A rotation that has the PM burst segment in the beginning parses at 21.5-22k DPS over the same time. If you are interested I can give you my current rotation

you are missing something. namely, a way to keep track of when the extra dot ticks happen. I killed someone with the extra dot tick today so I can confirm it works (kill message: Defeated ... with Tempest of Rho (64xx damage))
It can only tick when creeping terror is active and you use certain skills that have a chance of proccing rho (while creeping terror is active on the target).
Nice guide. Used this rotation on the training dummy in my ship I was able to sustain 18-19k dps. I'm ilvl 326 purple Thyrsian gear with 328 implants, fuil augments, 110% accuracy for reference. Switched over to my Lightning build, and to my surprise it was pretty much the same, 18-19k. I think i prefer the set in stone rotation with the Madness build so might start playing it more. How do you handle AOE in dungeons? Do you keep up this rotation and mostly rely on death field spreading your dots, or do you also use Force Storm if there are a certain number of targets? So I know the pub classes are mirrors of this, but if you get a chance can you also do pub versions as well. All the names are different, and it gets super confusing for slower players like me. Or maybe in the description include what the name is on imp side and what the equivalent is on pub side. I usually go by pictures and of course the pictures are all different as well.
It has been my experience that the lightning spam rotation is outparsing the lightning strike rotation, and I believe that's because Tempest of Rho appears to be ticking more on lightning than they intended it to, which is a significant boost to our damage. I've tried out both rotations and have found the lightning spam rotation to be about 1k higher than the strike rotation, but that's subject to change as they continue to work on the game. Vulkk's guides are really solid. I'd still defer to their content 100 times out of 100. Their insight into the game is top notch and very well written and I will always take a look at their stuff when I'm experimenting with a class I'm unfamiliar with.
Any plans on doing an updated lightning guide? Also this guide definitively makes me want to try out madness, although it seems less mobile than lightning
Honestly, madness is more mobile imho. Force lightning channel vs chain lightning, crushing darkness, lightning bolt, all of this assuming you choose force mobility for both specs.
I just have to know. What is this armour set that you are wearing?? Pretty please!? And great guide for madness spec, I’ve been wanting to switch over a bit from healer for a while to give it a try.

I heard that Plaguemaster might actually be stronger in parsing terms, what do you think about it? I've played madness sorc a lot in 7.0 and can't really decide, since it seems really weird having to reapply dots after 2-3GCDS of initially placing them on the target LOL. Great Guide :D! Your Guides are the only ones I watch, even for specs that I already know how to play! Keep on going man!
I personally haven’t seen much benefit from it as it just finished the damage that you would’ve received anyways except for an extra tick or two, if you wanted to you could do 3 force lightnings, demolish, and then shock afterwards before reapplying dots, but I see it more as a PvP utility than a PvE rotation. That might change as gear gets better though.
I started using it in PVP. Loved the rotation here from the bud so I typically go with 1. Demolish 2. Creeping terror 3. Affliction 4. Force speed 5. Force leech 6. Force lightning X4 Then go 1. Demolish 2. Creeping terror 3. Affliction 4. Force speed 5. Shock Makes for a nice execute especially trying to finish off that pesky opponent that just won’t give up that last little stretch of HP lol.
I hit my energy regen button, which locks me in a channel and prevents me from changing specs, which greys out the options in the ability tree. It’s a weird trick but it works for these purposes!

depends what you're fighting. lightning does better against ops, sins, and maras. madness does better against PTs and juggs. mercs, other sorcs (skill diff >), and snipers (you autowin regardless) are a wash.
So, how I've always run madness/balance is on the final stretch, Force Lightning>Lightning Strike>Force Lightningx2 and then into Demolish to restart the rotation. When alacrity buffs are present FL>LS>FL>LS>FL>Demolish. Lightning Strike gives you 100% extra tick. It's a lot less boring than spamming Force Lightning and I've never struggled with damage because of it.
Because of the tactical, you want to prefer to clip force lightnings. Force lightning has 4 ticks per full channel, lightning strike has 1. So while lightning strike has a 100% chance to get a tick from the tactical, force lightning has a 50% chance to proc it 2 to 3 times (if lucky). It also feels much more smooth to clip force lightnings than have a hard cast feeling of restarting a force lightning after every lightning strike. There's really more benefit to clipping force lightnings nowadays. It also makes you cast demolish faster.
@@CompliXD there is no hard cast. It’s all proc’d(glowing). The only time you should be hard casting is your first demolish and force leech, maybe during the fight for some type of reset.
@@ScuMeMrBusDrvr it more like feels like you interrupt the flow with lightning strikes, while clipping force lightnings does not, that's what i meant. That it also generates more dps by clipping is a second bonus to that.
This might just me being groggy in the AM but each time you cast DF it looks like your mouse was next to your char and not hovered over the target...but it still hit the target. Is there some sort of auto direct for aoe's in the game that I've been unaware of the entire time I've been playing this game???
how did you achieve 48k damage on Sorcerer Madness, i have 7.7 % Alacrity and 110% accuracy the rest i dumped into crit and still i couldn't go above 25k damage and im using purple augments on each item. My Item rating is 330 Tell me where did i go wrong or what i need to do,
@@Biggsgaming ok thank you for clarifying. I just wanted to make sure my info didn't change with 7.0. It looks like it isn't that big a difference from 6.x. Also, if you find force lightning sleepy you know lightning charge procs the tactical too with a 100% chance vs lightnings 50%. (Just my two cents not trying to Gordon Ramsey your hard work and I did hear that with 7.0 it is practical to do it your way without a big hit to dps) With Maddnes/Deception (can't speak to hatred), at least for me, if you go Accuracy for ear, head and chest, and alacrity for offhand (the only thing that can't be shared between the two is weapon tactical and implants), then what ever the standard tertiary is for the other pieces which are the 326 purple Thirstian gear you don't need alacrity augs to achieve 7.26% for alacrity. (Hope I am reading the stats right and that is with me wearing 324 conquest pants as I haven't rolled a 326 for them yet, but everything else is purple 326. This is an alacrity piece so it will be higher when perfect) any way, great job and very interesting.
Essentially tempest of rho ticks more on lightning more than it did previously which, when combined with some of the new talent options, gives us many more dot ticks over the course of the fight than we had previously.
If there's been any major changes since 7.0 feel free to let me know but a quick look at parsely doesn't convivence me otherwise. Some people put death field before the dots, but frankly it doesn't dramatically change the output in my experience. If you're playing plaguemaster, that's fine in leveling content, shock > dots etc, but in practice giving up suppression dr isn't really worth it. Let me know if there's something dramatically updated in 7.1 though, I haven't been paying attention to it.

The leech before before deathmark is a dps loss as leech does more damage with deathmark + the 3 dots

the tooltip text fails to take into account the 30% extra damage that leech does because of devor. leech is your hardest-hitting ability.

Using "Tempest of Rho" tactical doesn't seem to trigger any additional ticks for Creeping Terror. Is this a bug? Or am I missing something?

Its aoe got a little worse cause they removed the oP demolish tactical

This might just me being groggy in the AM but each time you cast DF it looks like your mouse was next to your char and not hovered over the target...but it still hit the target. Is there some sort of auto direct for aoe's in the game that I've been unaware of the entire time I've been playing this game???
Yep! If you double click any AOE ability, it will cast the ability on top of your current target.

how did you achieve 48k damage on Sorcerer Madness, i have 7.7 % Alacrity and 110% accuracy the rest i dumped into crit and still i couldn't go above 25k damage and im using purple augments on each item. My Item rating is 330

wait, 7.02 for alac or 7.2 as in 7.20. I thought it was long established that 7.15% is the goal once you have 110% accuracy.
7.2, the mathematically perfect score is 7.15 but with latency sometimes the 7.15 spot doesn’t work as well, so I find 7.2 to be more smooth
@@Biggsgaming ok thank you for clarifying. I just wanted to make sure my info didn't change with 7.0. It looks like it isn't that big a difference from 6.x. Also, if you find force lightning sleepy you know lightning charge procs the tactical too with a 100% chance vs lightnings 50%. (Just my two cents not trying to Gordon Ramsey your hard work and I did hear that with 7.0 it is practical to do it your way without a big hit to dps)
With Maddnes/Deception (can't speak to hatred), at least for me, if you go Accuracy for ear, head and chest, and alacrity for offhand (the only thing that can't be shared between the two is weapon tactical and implants), then what ever the standard tertiary is for the other pieces which are the 326 purple Thirstian gear you don't need alacrity augs to achieve 7.26% for alacrity. (Hope I am reading the stats right and that is with me wearing 324 conquest pants as I haven't rolled a 326 for them yet, but everything else is purple 326. This is an alacrity piece so it will be higher when perfect)

Alacrity or Accuracy. Play around with them to make sure you ara 110% Accuracy capped.
Why you dnt use lightning strike with 4 wrath stacks?
Essentially tempest of rho is ticking more than it should, so force lightning is doing more damage than a strike would
why did the rotation change from 6.0?
Essentially tempest of rho ticks more on lightning more than it did previously which, when combined with some of the new talent options, gives us many more dot ticks over the course of the fight than we had previously.
So Accuracy>Alacrity>Critical?
PVE 110 % yes PVP doesn't need Accuracy

Sadly your rotation is wrong
If there's been any major changes since 7.0 feel free to let me know but a quick look at parsely doesn't convivence me otherwise. Some people put death field before the dots, but frankly it doesn't dramatically change the output in my experience. If you're playing plaguemaster, that's fine in leveling content, shock > dots etc, but in practice giving up suppression dr isn't really worth it. Let me know if there's something dramatically updated in 7.1 though, I haven't been paying attention to it.
