I love this woman. So thoughful and creating space she connects to, vs. what we in Canada see, cookie-cutter white and gray spaces. Please bring more like these!
I’m Canadian and British and this is what keeps me in the U.K. - I love the quirkiness of people’s homes and especially their gardens here. Gardening is a national pastime! I think with my family in the GTA part of the problem is that so much of the year it’s either too hot or too cold to spend too much time outside. Of course, we’re also blessed in the U.K. to have perfect conditions for gardening: summers with long daylight hours, mild winters, and lots and lots of rain so it’s not expensive at all to keep things watered.
I think what I find so refreshing is the mentions of budget restriction and or usage of IKEA or otherwise. It's been so nice to have that realistic touch serve as ACUTAL inspiration for our own spaces.
I couldn't imagine your garden any other way. It is simply perfect! Everything is within scale and there is charm and mystery and the appropriate balance of color and greenery. Thanks so much, I have thoroughly enjoyed!!.
I love that you said' we had a budget' you got me at that, so often you see wonderful gardens with crazy budgets, your's is wonderful because of your budget

Has Butter ever worked with bread? Hehehe. Can we just also acknowledge the great video….not sure about the music in the background though, did it really add anything? The exterior is such a fit with the interior. How divine.
I'm glad there was music, but think they could've made a better choice - some relaxed classical, maybe some slower jazz? this feels a bit like elevator music haha
How amazing! I've had lots of experience with butter too! On toast, on baked potatoes, in baking cakes and cookies, in ...... Yum! My only question is: since I love butter so much, why didn't I name my daughter Butter? That was a brilliant move by Butter's mom. Can you imagine her calling her daughter to come in the house: Oh, Butter! Butter! Wherefore art thou, Butter? I need you!" Wonder what the neighbors thought? :-)

Hi. Love your garden and has been a massive inspiration to me for my new garden renovation. I've started to look into buying some sleepers and wondered if you used creosote sleepers and wondered if it's safe as most reclaimed ones are creosote?
I've wondered about this too -- Matilda Goad seems like a big enough deal that surely they have money to not be so budget-conscious?? -- but have come to the conclusion that perhaps a big part of their budget was in all the structural changes of the house (to say nothing of buying the thing...), and the 'niceties' are where they have to get more creative. (Which sometimes means a better result!)
I don't know if it is the case in the UK, but used rail ties in Canada are saturated in creosote, and, out of health and environmental concerns, are no longer commonly used in gardens and retaining walls.
I found her accent to be more American with a slight British inflection and it turns out she's from Maryland. So funny that her name does indeed sound so British!
i was entranced until butter poured MIRACLE GROW onto the plants. What an absolute shame. How about something organic like kelp or fish emulsion..c'mon..
It is beautiful! However, railroad ties/lumber tends to be treated with creosote and not appropriate for food growing container building. So hope you have your pieces of railroad lumber tested before planting food plants in them!
I understand the lights, but its actually bad for animals. Look up light pollution🙌 maybe you could just use them when your in the garden with Friends or something like that😊
@@TheAcatoy So does a lot of plastic and a lot of things we use on a daily base. I think you do not know what you're talking about. It sounds extremely absurd.
My greenspaces mean the world to me. Don't know how else to put it. I also understand that 'garden' means something different to everyone. The garden here, for me has far tooi much cement which can never be translated to warmth or serenity, especially with a young child. That said I respect her choices.
I don't think breaking the space like that was a good idea. It makes it look so small. Besides, you want to see the wonderful dining area from the house but, of course, you can't because of the green walls in the middle.
It’s never a good idea to have the boundaries of your garden visible. Nothing makes it feel so small and restrictive and flat as that. Cover your fences, create little paths and borders, it gives the illusion of more space because there is more to EXPLORE.
LOVE the snaking garden. Would be so fun to play in as a child; you’d feel that you’re in your own little world, off from the grownups.

I loved her whole house and now i love her garden aswell. She is such a charming person. I want to be friends with Matilda Goad.
Right? She obviously comes from great privilege, but she has a genuine, down-to-earth quality.

Beautiful garden, love the winding aspect and how it's revealed over the cobbled walkway. Full of life and so green
Love her style and personality. A little bit uncontrolled!
Wrong for you
Love the garden. The free, loose, and flowing style is the base of its beauty and charm. Ah! "Everyone let's all moved to the garden". 😉
Matilda is amazingly talented and I love watching every episode!!
Omg I can’t wait for the next episode! As someone who sources for a living and for my videos. I can’t wait to see where she sources across the pond.

My two favourite roses, Gertrude Jekyll and Munstead Wood, both vigorous and gloriously scented 🇬🇧

Show!🍀
exquisitely
I love the garden, but why oh WHY do obviously wealthy people pretend to be on a tight budget?
On a tight budget means she haggled when it was 'bought from a Hungarian dealer' 😆
Everyone fixing up these houses is extremely wealthy so budgeting is a relative term. They budget. Roman Abramovich does not.
Natasha WHO CARE
@@mariac.gonzalez3041 it comes across as disingenuous because they are so obviously wealthy. It's grating and it stands out to me.

What is creosote? I have a feeling that’s not the case in the U.K., as we have no shortage of health and safety laws haha
I didn’t know birds nest in ivy. Lovely garden
The parents called her Butter? When I told my daughter Margarine she fell about laughing...🙂
Can we just see the garden for 2 min straight without interruptions of camera switch
Hi what kind of music is that? it is so nice!
"Butter Wakefield" sounds like the parody of a British name
I found her accent to be more American with a slight British inflection and it turns out she's from Maryland. So funny that her name does indeed sound so British!
i was entranced until butter poured MIRACLE GROW onto the plants. What an absolute shame. How about something organic like kelp or fish emulsion..c'mon..
Agree. And sincerely hope they aren’t using it on edibles!
Tell me, where did you source the bedrolls? I have one from Graham & Greene, but want a paler grey stripe. Love your posts!
If the fabulous Butter Wakefield visits you in your personal garden you are a fortunate soul.
We 👏need 👏more 👏Rita 👏Konig!!!!!!!!!!
unfortunately the ivy can cause damage to a building, so what can we use instead that will encourage birds to nest in it ?
It is beautiful! However, railroad ties/lumber tends to be treated with creosote and not appropriate for food growing container building. So hope you have your pieces of railroad lumber tested before planting food plants in them!
I am so obsessed with the series! Does anyone know where Matilda’s cream vest is from? The one at 4:41
It’s from Zara. I have to admit I bought it too, after watching this video!

the names of these people, oh my god

that lady's name is "Butter"?
Oooh… can we please get a list of the plants they used?

Butter ?
Hey momma named her Butter
I understand the lights, but its actually bad for animals. Look up light pollution🙌 maybe you could just use them when your in the garden with Friends or something like that😊
Do you have this conversation with lamp posts too?
Don't use old wooden railway sleepers, they are carcinogenic!
Ah interesting !
Good share.
...why are they? Could you explain?
@@moonbeeps They contain creosote.
@@TheAcatoy So does a lot of plastic and a lot of things we use on a daily base. I think you do not know what you're talking about. It sounds extremely absurd.
Am I the only one that didn't like the result??? Lots of wasted space. I've seen smaller gardens with more functionality.

I don’t see any cement, just packing and pathways, which have been used in gardens far longer than lawns have.

Beautiful home but I wouldn't want an overlooked garden.
It isn't though, They keep saying its a secret garden cause everything is really high, you cant see anything from the outside.
