I am so glad that RUclips exists so that all of this great music can be preserved and enjoyed. I am 52 and little did I think that when I saw them on the Andy Griffith show as a kid I would still be enjoying their music. This music uplifts the soul. Thank you very much for posting.
I’m early 30s and the first time I heard this song was also on the Andy Griffith Show as a kid. I didn’t even understand the song but good God did I cry. Beautiful music.

The version with "Darlene" on the Andy Griffith show will always hold a special place in my heart but the vocal harmonies here electrifying. Sound quality is also excellent.
After discovering this song a couple of weeks ago and listening to every version i could, i think this live performance by the original singer is my favourite version
Rodney Dillard can certainly sing this song the way it should be performed, his instruments are excellent, last but not least female vocalist is also very well represented in this wonderful performance of a song that is ageless!

Been watching ANDY this morning...never grow tired and been watching since it first aired...The Darlings just arrived in town and had to find There Is A Time and have a listen!
“There Is a Time” Song by The Dillards There is a time for love and laughter The days will pass like summer storms The winter winds will follow after But there is love and love is warm There is a time for us to wander When time is young and so are we The woods are greener over yonder The path is new the world is free There is a time when leaves are fallin' The woods are gray the paths are old The snow will come when geese are callin' You need a fire against the cold There is a time for us to wander When time is young and so are we The woods are greener over yonder The path is new the world is free So do your roaming in the springtime You’ll find your love in the summer sun The frost will come and bring the harvest And you can sleep when day is done There is a time for us to wander When time is young and so are we The woods are greener over yonder The path is new the world is free Life is like a roll’in river With no regrets as it moves on Around the bend a shining morning To greet the friends we thought were gone There is a time for us to wander When time is young and so are we The woods are greener over yonder The path is new the world is free

I loved it when Maggie Peterson (no relation that I know of) did the vocals on this song. It's a nice song by itself but when done by Maggie it added a new dimension to it.

Really? I'd like to smack that kid with that banjo. Doug Dillard's lead was fairly simple to play, and it fit perfectly. The banjo drove this tune, and nobody is driving the bus here. Too much Bela, nit enough Earl. Plus the original was in cut time and it's screwing with the vibe here by changing it.
That was intentional, she was just a little too loud for background harmonies. You can hear her do it throughout the entire song on the same two notes in the chorus, she just backed off a bit. She’s actually on point the whole song. But Rodney missed a line of a verse. 😊 But he gets to do what he wants, it’s his lovely song!
Actually, the greatest live rock and roll band (Widespread Panic) ever is what brought me here. Hats off for the Andy Griffith Show musical 'costume' that brought many other spreadheads here. I give credit where it is due. This is a great song and I am grateful to you 'Dillards' for bringing it to us via WP. God bless you all. Your music deserves much more recognition.
I'm from Chicago but my mom was from Bosavein Virginia, a small coal mining town in the Appalachia's. Now I'm 61 and as long as I can remember my family sang this song. And now my long time friend was born and raised not to far from where my mom was born and raised knows this song. Rodney was born in Illinois like myself. Missouri is in the south? I can't believe that. well Kentucky is a union state. Imagine that! God Bless
This is a beautiful rendition of this song. I love the fiddle solo. I do wish the cajon player would play in single time as apposed to half...it makes this upbeat song sound like its dragging horribly
@@joshuafuller9898 ....He's kinda playing a half time country rock beat....(which makes the song drag) It would sound better if he was playing a snare drum, with brushes and playing a regular country feel....
From Salem often plays in Branson. Check out the interview with Rodney on The Ozark Music Shoppe channel. Great music and really shows Rodney's funny bone.

I expected his voice to be faded, but not at all!
There's always a time for a Dillard's song...….always great......
Reminds us all how. Precious time really is here today gone tomorrow dont waste it this song says it beautifully 😢
Great! Even without dear Maggie. RIP, dear Maggie.
I just love the Dillards...miss all of them. Only one left, keep the music alive.

My all time favorite song, it's so great to see Rodney sing the fourth verse.
That fourth verse is song writing greatness. I watch this over and over.
I love the new to me fourth verse.
No doubt about it. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for this.

You are so right- that episode was beautiful and brought us this song.

It brings me to a peaceful time i still watch andy i have every episode the world was normal lol
Yup, I still laugh every time I see Denver Pyle wiping his tears away with his handkerchief. LOL.
As beautiful today as when I first heard it on Andy Griffith
Wow, he still has it! GREAT
That just may be the prettiest thing I ever heard.....
Rip! Andy Griffith and Charlene Darling ❤❤❤
That makes you cry paw! Well I'll fight it!
The Andy. Griffith Show brought me here😁

“There Is a Time”
Song by The Dillards
There is a time for love and laughter
The days will pass like summer storms
The winter winds will follow after
But there is love and love is warm
There is a time for us to wander
When time is young and so are we
The woods are greener over yonder
The path is new the world is free
There is a time when leaves are fallin'
The woods are gray the paths are old
The snow will come when geese are callin'
You need a fire against the cold
There is a time for us to wander
When time is young and so are we
The woods are greener over yonder
The path is new the world is free
So do your roaming in the springtime
You’ll find your love in the summer sun
The frost will come and bring the harvest
And you can sleep when day is done
There is a time for us to wander
When time is young and so are we
The woods are greener over yonder
The path is new the world is free
Life is like a roll’in river
With no regrets as it moves on
Around the bend a shining morning
To greet the friends we thought were gone
There is a time for us to wander
When time is young and so are we
The woods are greener over yonder
The path is new the world is free
Takes me back to Mountain View Arkansas
I just keep coming back to watch this video over and over again. It is so relaxing and yet at the same time powerful.
Boy, Rodney's voice is still pitch perfect. Great performance..
Just beautiful and peaceful

Such a beautiful bittersweet song.
I saw them perform several years ago in a tiny venue. I was very impressed. And Beverly is about one of the nicest people ever to walk to planet.
lucky you!
Wonderful!!!
what the what?! this is awesome..how lovely...
The fiddle player - yeah, baby!
It's interesting to me that they wrote this masterpiece in their teens, even more relevant as we age
The best bluegrass band I've ever heard ❤️
I started out with the greatest hits CD "There Is A Time", and have since never looked back , and got all their CDs.
Maybe the best song in the bluegrass catalog. Just beautiful words and melody.
Such a great song.
Very nice!
Fantastic group...just love them!
I like this version , the Fiddle and Banjo solo's add much to it !

THANK YOU. 🇺🇸✌️👍🏻
The Dillards are a deliciously wonderful slice of Americana pie.
I miss the rest of them.
Nothing will ever surpass the performance on the Andy Griffith Show.
Great song by original performers. Thank you Gentlemen. Topper would be with Maggie Peterson.
They are awesome live!!!
Great band , the Darlings of the Andy Griffith show.
Oh man, that look he gives her when she hits a sour note in the harmonies... priceless

Love the banjo and the fiddle.
I can just picture andy and the rest of boys and maggie Peterson along with denver pyle up there good times funny how time flies
The Andy Griffith show, The Dillards, Bluegrass music are Americana !
Would love to hear the Peterson’s do this version. Good song no matter who does it.
Me too! I suggested it in Patreon when they were asking for suggestions

He still has those big droopy Eyes! We miss “CHARLENE”❤
What other songs did they perform on Larry's Country Diner?
Only one Dillard left. Live long, Rodney.
stflaw If I'm correct Rodney passed.
stflaw Sorry I'm wrong he's alive. I know I read about his brother but I thought he Rodney passed too.

I believe Dean Webb from the original group is still with us.
Doug41160 We just lost Dean this past June 30th. :’-(

The guy playing the banjo kind of looks like Dean Dillard.......Shall the Dillard play on?
OBOY! A new verse.
Love it! Glad someone else noticed

Are the same people who were on Andy Griffin?
What's with the swirl in the background
Andy Griffith and Charlene Darlin brought me here
Where does the Dillons from I’d like to meet this guy
Salem Missouri
From Salem often plays in Branson. Check out the interview with Rodney on The Ozark Music Shoppe channel. Great music and really shows Rodney's funny bone.
I want her voice.
Is Rodney the only one of the original still left?
can someone tell me who the young man playing the banjo is ?
Cory Walker
