The construction of Dominica's new international airport, undertaken by a Chinese company, is the country's largest project to date. Once completed, the airport could become a new aviation hub for the eastern Caribbean region.
With a floor area of approximately 22,000 square meters, close to the size of Portsmouth, the second-largest town in Dominica, the airport is expected to handle annual passenger traffic of up to 500,000 people.

Bravo - since I was a kid we've been talking about having such airport, I am now in my 60+ and I may yet live to see this happen.
Dominica needs economic development. The new airport will provide tourism to Dominica, injecting much needed foreign capital which will lower unemployment, stimulate new opportunities, and raise the standard of living. The West has ignored the needs of the people of Dominica. Dominica has sought out China for an economic revitalization.
That statement is speculative at best.
Will this new airport increase air transportation to and from the region when complete?
Will Dominica gain market share at the cost of other hub airports in the OECS?
All it’ll do is put the country in dept to the chinese which is never a good thing.

The British colonizers treated us better than the new Chinese colonizers ,we could work on the estates,in the CDC offices and even the kitchen but Chinese no way. When CDC left we got the land to buy an government got monies but today government giving away our money

@@bettyyork7727 I live there, I know what's happening, the government in Dominica is known for fooling the people, this airport story has been going on for years now, every election they say the airport will begin, after election they make it look like an airport is being built, it's not happening, they haven't even done the soil testing yet
