- This is my challenging video, I'd like to share with you.
I tried kendo 5-dan promotion test for the first time to see what would happen if I were to take the test by Nito.
According to my research, nobody passed 5-dan promotion test in U.S.A before. So this is real challenging for me.
I had to be prepared for the test, so I planned the strategy how to make it in advance, ran simulations, and then took a shot at the real thing.
How did it turn out?
初めて挑戦する剣道の5段審査を二刀で受けたらどうなるのか、身をもって検証してみた。
私の知る限り、アメリカで剣道五段に合格した二刀剣士はまだ存在しないとのこと。そうです、めちゃくちゃチャレンジします。
どうせ受けるなら、しっかりと対策して望まねばと、事前に戦略を練り、シミュレーションを重ね、いざ本番一発勝負。
その結果はいかに！？
Loved your kaeshi-do. The 1st time I saw it, it felt like you made your opponent to move before they wanted, which allowed you to make the waza.
Your 1st harai-men was also beautiful.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I tried to pull my opponent by Seme and Tame in order to execute waza. Kaeshi-Do is thought as Go-no-sen. But I'm thinking it's Sen-no-go-no-sen which means my Sen initiates the opponent movement. That's why I could do Kaeshi-Do.

I used Nito to take part in my 1st Dan exam many years ago, but I didn't pass. Since then I only use Nito for training and tournaments. Your Video is my motivation. Tks! :D

I hear that there are only 12 people who have 7-Dan title with Nito style in Japan. One of them is Fukutomi sensei in Kanagawa Japan.

一人目の最初の面と、二人目の最後の面は、いい感じという印象を持ちました。個人的な感想です。
ただ、正二刀に当たった人は最悪ですね。。。

私も五段審査のときに二刀の方に当たりまして、
開始前の整列の段階で「終わった。。。」となりましたが、
立ち会い開始で構えたら逆二刀だったので、「助かった～」となった出来事があります。

逆(左)二刀がお相手の方が対処しやすいですか？
左諸手上段をお相手にしていらっしゃれば、共通する事もあると思いますが、右上段の剣士と稽古する機会は今となっては皆無だと思いますし😅

段審査では、お相手の方が左手に長刀を持った瞬間、上段と同じ対処で大丈夫だろうとホッとしました。
しかも、お相手の方の短刀の構えがこちらには全く効いてなくて、ほぼ片手上段でした。
当時は、高校生や大学生の上段選手と定期的に稽古する機会がありまして、
彼らのスピードが速すぎて一本も取れないんですが、なんとか食らいつこうと稽古してました。
段審査の特性といいますか、同じ年代の方と立ち会いしますから、
同じ年代なら上段のスピードには困らないだろうという次第でした。
実際に立ち会いでは開始直後に、お相手の左甲手に小手を二本決めましたが、
お相手はほぼ棒立ちでした。
そのお相手の方も最近五段に受かったと昨日聞きまして、よかったなと👍
Thanks for the video. Two months ago I started training nito. The reason is a right shoulder injury in weightlifting snatch. Very often I am asked if I will take the 6 dan exam in nito. Kendo colleagues express great fear that in the exam the opponent can do nito. I reply that while I am practising nito they have a good chance to practise :))
Before, If opponents was Jodan or Nito, an additional examination will be held which means total 3 tachiais.
Nowadays, opponent's stance (chudan, Jodan or Nito) is not matter, only 2 tachiais for examination.
One of 8dan hanshi told me "no additional exam is required for tachiai, since Riai of Kendo is same whichever stance was took."
That's the reason you had better to have keiko with all kenshis 😉👍

私の場合はギリギリ合格だったと思うので、六段受審前には段位に相応しい剣道が出来るようにします。

打突の機会は良いと思いますが、動画内でも触れられてましたが踏み込み足が手前に着地して後ろ足がハネ足になることで打突姿勢が前傾姿勢になるのが気になりました。

はい、基本打ちではもう少しまともにできるのですが、いざ稽古、ましてや立ち合いとなると、古い悪癖が一気に出てきてしまいます😅
2024年は基本に戻って、打たれまくっても良いので、徹底的に跳ね足改善に努める所存です😤
審査で相手が二刀だと嫌ですね。私は一級の審査の時相手が上段でした。その時と同じくらいの衝撃でしょうね。私は二刀流に対して通常上段を取るので審査の時は中段で通したいのでもし相手が二刀流だったら本当にどうしましょう。因みに私は普段試合の時では中段と上段をスイッチしてやってます。
ほぉ～ 😲1級審査のお相手が上段の方でしたか。スゴいですね、級審査ですでに上段をとる方がいらっしゃるとは😳
