    The Oshawa Diet #7, also known as Macrobiotic Diet 7, is a 10 day detoxification process involving eating only whole grains; such as barley, buckwheat, whole wheat, millet, oats and brown rice.
    We use only brown rice for it's amazing Anti-Inflammatory properties and to make it a bit more of a challenge.
    This diet is excellent to clean the blood of toxins, to make the system more YANG and to develop qualities of Manipura Chakra. Meaning that this 10 day detox diet can rid the body of bad bacteria, boost the immune system, increase will power, determination, mental concentration and assertiveness.
    We use it as part of our practice to purify and boost our energy and it was one of the main contributors to Clelia curing herself of Crohn's Disease.

    It's my favourite diet, I always feel great on day 10, like I could go on forever on rice and wheat seeds, no cravings and addictions. My auntie cured her psoriasis and vitiligo with oshava. She was alternating 10 days fruit and vegetables with 10 days oshava. Her skin and body completely changed in a few month.

    I have performed diet 7 many times as a youth. It is a great learning experience. Most important is learning how to chew each mouthful of rice at least 50 times and experiencing the starch becoming simple sugar before swallowing. You will become meditative. Chewing was considered to be meditation by George Ohsawa. You learn simplicity. But, salt, gomasio, tamari, miso, seaweed, cinnamon, turmeric, bancha tea, were never apart of the number 7 diet. It really was just rice. You could roast rice on an iron skillet, and make tea out of it, and eat the roasted rice. And, if you can’t make it, other grains can be added. Millet I found to be too light. Buckwheat is a nice concession if you cannot stay with the rice only. Also, George allowed any kind of rice, even white.

    5 days in… this commitment cultivates awareness, the shadow portion of the subconscious becomes increasingly observable as the days progress. It is a wonderful companion for dismantling neurological connections to limitations. In combination with frequent return to a zero point state one can regain any misplaced capacity to access the will. What normally would result in a sleep state of habitual unconscious at the very least becomes recognizable to connect with the programmed aspect of the self. The programmed portion of consciousness is becoming frustrated as it struggles to maintain it’s established habitual process. Over all, a liberating and energetically educational experience. Highly recommended to anyone.

      Amazing bro! Your eloquent description is very relatable. This process definitly shines light on a lot of mental programming. In the next day or so it's not uncommon to experience a massive shift as the programs fade away, emotional attchments shift and desires are relinquished. You're in the heart of it now! Stay strong. I have no doubt that you will prevail.

      I'm sure there could be value in a diet like this, however, it's very far from what is the Ohsawa Diet #7 Seven. To stick to this diet there should be only whole grains eaten (brown rice, buckwheat, etc.) The only other things that may added along within this diet are salt, gomazio and miso. No vegetables, no bone marrow, and very little water should be taken in this diet.

      Hey Svetlana!
      So I (Andrew) will respond to you first and Clelia will probably tell you something different afterwards 😝
      First off, I'm super excited for you to do this diet and can't wait to hear about your experience with it! I'm also pretty excited for you to join in this challenge haha
      In my opinion I don't think there would be any reason that YOU could not do both. I'll tell you, this New Year New Me 10 day challenge will be centered around the Wake Up Series, which we did a couple times in the 14 day challenge. So you're already familiar with the practice, we will just go into a journey of progressively expanding it and I will add in some other philosophical "stuff" ;)
      Since the challenge starts on the 4th and you want to start your diet on the 7th, you can follow along with the challenge for the first 4 days and see for yourself if you want to combine the two. At the minimum it will act as a good preparation for the detoxification process. And you can always redo the challenge later! But personally I think they will support each other quite well.
      If you do choose to do both and find some day that the diet is really taking your energy (maybe day 5 or 6) and you don't have motivation to do the practice, you can take a rest, sit in on the livestream to still be in the energy with us. And just eat your rice and enjoy 💞
      As for the post detox diet, I will let Clelia go into the details of what is best to eat and to avoid when she writes you back.
      Sending my love 🙏💕

      Eventually I agree with Andrew, you can try to combine the 2 things with awareness, if you feel to much depleted or tired maybe listen your body and take care about yourself, viceversa sometimes happens that because we are detox the body from heavy energy, we feel more energetic and lucid then ever. The key, I suppose is Awareness, be presente and knowledge whatever is there. After the diet everything different than rice will make you feel heavy....it will take a couple day to go back completely....usually I try to eat cook vegetable, like zucchini, pumpkin, lentil, dall, soup with mix vegetable, fruit like watermelon or apple and pear in winter time are more suggest. And Eventually go back to a normal diet. Personally I don't eat meat, and really try to avoid any process food, no soda or bottle juice, avoid as much I can dairy (also if some time i eat a bit of cheese) I eat pasta, no every day but couple time for week.. After 8 years in Thailand, go back to Italy or here in Canada for me is a bit a shook and took me several week before find again balance. I notice that every thing in the grocery store are extremely process....for exemple the coconut yogurt, or the jam, or the bread are full of many unnecessary ingredients....in Phangan we was able to find every thing home made and fresh. Anyway I'm sure that is always possible to find the way to be healthy :) Big Huh and Kiss Clelia

      And yes, I agree with you - most of the food in here is extremely processed. That’s why I do my grocery shopping in healthy food stores, not buying any processed food; I prefer to make my own, homemade 😊. Basically my diet is pretty much healthy: i never drink soda beverages or bottled juice - I prefer herbal teas. I eliminated gluten and dairy from my diet long time ago. Coffee and meat is the next step 😅. That’s another New Year resolution 😊. So yes, I absolutely agree with you - it’s always possible to find the way to be healthy. And happy 😃.

    I want to try, but honestly, I'm worried about if this could make me feel sick or something... I mean, it's more inclinated to the point about where I'm going to obtain those necessary vitamins and proteins. I'm still ignorant in this, but that's what makes me unsure to try it

    • @RefeelYoga
      @RefeelYoga  7 месяцев назад +1

      The important thing to remember is that this is a time restricted detox, not a lifestyle diet. You only do it for 10 days maximum. Not more. So the idea is not to get proteins and vitamins from this, but rather to remove toxins from the system by limited intake of food and using the property of the brown rice to help strengthen and purify the digestive system.

    Hello! I'd like to do the brown rice diet. I was wondering if I could add some raw spinach leaves or lettuce to the daily intake of rice to prevent constipation in addition to exercise. It's cheaper and handier than miso. I know it definitely moves the bowels. Miso is something I've never tried and would be unwilling to. Would a daily intake of the stuff I mentioned above undo the diet?

    • @RefeelYoga
      @RefeelYoga  Год назад

      Hey Aurelian! To answer your question, no, you cannot do this diet with adding spinach or lettuce, as spinach and lettuce are very Yin foods, which would offset the purifying and solarizaing intentions of this diet. Miso is allowed because it is a very Yang food, that can help with constipation. But if you do not want to consume miso, it's not a problem. It's not needed at all. I don't use miso when I do this diet and never really have a problem.
      The only things that are allowed with this diet are whole rice, it can be brown or red, salt and sesame. No oil, no fruits or vegetables, and even not too much water.

      @@aureliancosma3807 That is a great idea! Movement, walking, abdominal contractions, etc. are great ways to keep the digestive system flowing. There are many variations. Some will tell you to even limit your water intake. We generally drink warm water mixed with tumeric or cinnamon. Clelia drinks tumeric for the ant-iinflammatory effects and Andrew drinks cinnamon for the extra Yang properties.
      Some people drink green or black tea, but it seems to be very controversial whether tea is Yin or Yang in property. Personally, I think it's best to avoid caffeine during detox.

      Hello Christy, for sure when there is a drastic change on the Diet our body/system need time to adjust at the new regimen. Is also true that this diet is design to detox not only the body, but also the mind and the whole system. The range of emotions and feelings that can occur are really vast, especially if your diet is already quite healthy, means that the purification go to act more at the subtle levels (emotions and mind) . When we decide to challenge ourselves with something that can trigger us, the mind can find 1000 excuses, the process of growing/evolve sometimes can be painful. We learn through our failures. What I suggest to you is to eat as much rice you can the first couple days, the beauty of this diet is that you can eat kilos of rice, and don’t skip any meals. And observe what happens, with awareness and love, meditation, watch the emotions, journaling and trying to go through the difficult moment. Celebrate the symptoms 😊 Every time that I did it was always very different, one time I spend 5 day in the bed with TERRIBLE headaches. Another time couldn’t move my neck for 4 days 😭. Andrew always cry for the first 3 days. Everybody reaction is completely different. Usually first part of the diet is more heavy mentally and the second part we gain more energy, sleep less and feel quite light. I hope that this will help you. Love & Light C.

    • @RefeelYoga
      @RefeelYoga  3 года назад

      Hey Christy for sure the diet can help, and also keep in mind that often the ovarian cyst come and go along the month. Of course if you start to feel pain or have some serious spot or problem always better to see a specialist and then eventually study a strategy for healing. Otherwise keep a healthy pelvic with some exercise, massage, yoga is always a very good habit, and diet, especially this, can always help because of the detox effects. 😊 Hope that everything will be good! Have a beautiful time! 🌸💗🍀 love & light

    What about wild rice?

    • @RefeelYoga
      @RefeelYoga  Год назад +1

      Honestly I'm not 100% sure about the properties of wild rice. I know it is a different plant than regular rice. However I think the most important aspect is that it's a whole grain. I do know people who use alternatives like buckwheat and barley, instead of brown rice.
      Purists of the Ohsawa macrobiotic philosophy might argue that the exact nature of brown rice, with its particular balance of nutrients and energetic properties, is essential for Diet #7. However, if you're considering a variation based on personal preference or other reasons, using wild rice could be an option. You should know, however, that it's a deviation from the traditional approach.

      Hi Clark, NO absolutely No! You will completely depleted your body. This is a detox diet designed for 10 days no more, no less. Eventually after that you can still eat brown rice, BUT need to be implemented with some vegetable, soya, fruit. In a case of some several digestive problem, like I had, you can repeated the 10 days every month for max 2/3 times. Or in a case of very serious problem can be alternate with fasting but at this point ONLY with a super visor of an expert. Like everything in life Balance, Compassion & Love are the keys for success. 😂 you know, it's difficult but at the same time it's super rewarding. And I (Andrew) realized there are many different ways that the brown rice can be cooked!
      Sometimes we would cook them more dry, then they have a texture more like "mince", for lack of a better comparison. Or sometimes we would cook the rice more like risotto so it would become starchy and creamy. Sometimes we would boil it dry and burn the bottom a bit. This gave us some crunchy pieces like chips to enjoy as a desert! Ahahaha

    Can you use black rice instead of brown?

    • @RefeelYoga
      @RefeelYoga  2 года назад +1

      The idea behind the Ohsawa diet is to eat only plain whole grains. So you can also eat buckwheat, oats or barley. I'm sure black rice would be acceptable as well. We have often had red rice instead of brown rice.
      We often use only brown or red rice because of the anti-inflammatory properties. I'm not sure if black rice shares the same quality. I'm also not sure if black rice would be more fiberous than the other varieties, which may be harder on the digestive system - but maybe I'm confusing black with Wild Rice?
      So long as it's whole, it's should be acceptable.
