@@arth-urx3544No, Mikhail Designed the AK-47, AKM, AK-74 and AKS-74U carabine, the other ones was created when he was already old
No. There was a whole team of designers and specialists. It's just that Kalashnikov was bestowed the title of kind of a manager, and he was the one who contacted the authorities. But to say he did everything on his own is too much. It's sad that history forgets about the little ones and only one name is famous. But that's the way it is.

AK series rifles started out as a design around the new bullet, 7.62 x 39 mm. Then later on, internal politics made it drifting away to other things. Eventually, the design of the rifle went back to basing on the old 7.62 x 39.

There never was AK-47. It was called 'AK, model of 1949 year'. Yes, of 1949, AK explotation has been started in 1949, not 47.
I feel like some models are a bit redundant. Like having the Mk. 18 and CAR-15.
Yeah, these are just for marketing purpose
@deluxezesty A handguard swap and an extra inch on the barrel. Yeah, real different.
@deluxezesty Wouldn't be hard to swap a stock and the receiver doesn't exactly matter. The fact is, they're too similar to really make a difference.
@deluxezesty I'm referring to function above all else. Barrel length is everything for 5.56. So the existence of an Mk. 18 rather than a modernized XM177 makes no sense to me. An XM177 with rails wouldn't perform that much different from an Mk. 18 in terms of ballistics.
@deluxezesty History doesn't mean anything when they perform similarly. The difference in barrel length is a single inch. So the Mk. 18 is redundant. They should've just modernized the XM177.

From 1991 to 2023 I like those New Modern AK series, If was use it on Spetnaz. Playing like Counter Strike or Call of Duty Modern Warfare

When you try to make a serious video about the periodization of AK, but you make mistakes. Firstly, there is no AK-47 assault rifle. More precisely, the number indicating the year of issue of the Kalashnikov assault rifle was not assigned. Both the first and second AK samples are early. For some reason there is no serial version.
The depicted AKM is its latest version. AK hundredth series began to be produced since 1994, and not since 1995. Starting with the AK-107 were produced in 1999. The AK-9 was not adopted (in addition to it, there were other AK models that were not adopted). AK-19 also does not exist. This name is exclusively marketing. The official name of this machine is AK-12M1.
UPD: Regarding plastic fittings, the was adopted in 1986, and was used on AK-74 and AKS-74 submachine guns by Soviet paratroopers.
AKM will always be the best AK variant.

different calibers, for different tasks. for example AKS, a small automatic rifle. It is usually used by the police, for example in civilian life. Machine guns chambered for NATO cartridges are needed in order to use NATO cartridges. After any conflict, our soldiers take a lot of trophies of these cartridges. for example, in country 404, where all warehouses are constantly filled with them. Therefore, we need a familiar machine gun for soldiers, but at the same time, so that these cartridges can be used to return them to the enemy.
