  • Derek Medina speaks for the first time after being sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife Jennifer Alfonso in 2013.
The victim's mother also breaks her silence and responded to him.
The crime generated international attention after Medina took a photo of the victim's body and posted it on Facebook. “When I published that photo, I didn't do it with cruel intentions,” says Medina.

Dummy even if she is violent towards him it doesn’t justify what he did, he is a coward. He was a so called former boxer. He’s bigger and stronger he could’ve restrain her and call the police. The defense attorney’s are just as bad as the criminals. The mother sounds like she is supporting the killer more than her own daughter.

She was so beautiful. She worked nights at Denny's and was always pleasant. It is a shame that she cannot speak for herself while someone tries to drag her through the mud. Her ex doesn't sound remorseful at all.

Exactly. I once talked to a man who had to shoot an armed home intruder, a complete stranger who was actually putting his family and his life in danger, and he was tearing up and wishing that the whole thing never happened. This guy here is so cold and has zero remorse. I don't know the lady but I don't believe him because of how everything he says is worded. It's not adding up for me. I believe he was angry and vengeful and not actually defending his life.

@@tchlinI get what you're saying, but any normal human being, would at least feel some level of regret, and express sadness over the situation. Especially when you had to kill the person you loved. Wishing it never had to come to that.
The assumption that people would not be questioning the validity of the claims if sex was reversed, is simply untrue. There are plenty of cases like this, where the female killers claim they were being abused or simply defending themselves. And you would really have to search for quite a long time before you find anyone who buys the lies. If you look up any case involving a woman, claiming self defense. You will see a comment section absolutely full of people calling BS, and questioning her accusations made against the man she killed.

If Derek didn't post this on fb for everyone he knew to see, his chances at self-defense would have been a lot greater. All said and done, he lost control of his situation. And his reaction caused a lot of pain and ultimately his freedom. Being in a toxic relationship is like being caught in a web. Especially once you start building a life with someone. He had every opportunity to walk away peacefully instead of letting it go that far. As a man he was in control of that

Why he didn't get out of that relationship before.?
She punched him and he got mad, went upstairs to grab the gun and she knew a that point she had to grab something to defend herself and that's when she attacked him with the knife, possible first yes!

It seems like she was trying to protect herself after he went upstairs to retrieve his weapon. If he was scared for his life, why did'nt he walk away or leave the house? Instead he went back with the mission to hurt, and kill her.

Lmao. I’m sorry but on the contrary to what everyone else thinks in these comments, her mother absolutely incriminated her. There is absolutely no one who isn’t capable of unaliving someone that writes those types of things in a diary. A mentally stable person isn’t going to write those type of deepest desires in a diary. Now, I know where her daughter got it from. Her mother is absolutely delusional. I believe that they most definitely had a toxic relationship where they would both possibly hit on each other. Only this time, someone was unalived because it went too far. Like he said, if it wasn’t him, it would have most definitely been her. Also, I could be wrong, but you hardly ever see someone fight this hard after being convicted if they are truly guilty. You see it every now and then but never as coherent as he is doing. Typically, guilty people lie on the stand and you never hear from them again after they get sentenced. Not him so I’m not fully convinced that he is guilty. I don’t think that self defense cases are ever going to succeed in a court of law because if he was to have documented the abuse, they would say it was premeditated. It’s really sad that you really can’t defend yourself and be believed.
