Serj’s scathing delivery in the second verse sends chills up my spine every time. Sadly, the lyrics stand just as truthful and relevant now as they did back when this was released in 2003. One of the greatest protest songs ever written.
This song reduces me to tears every single time I hear it, firstly, because it's right, and secondly, because we never seem to learn. Serj and the rest of SOAD are beautiful people.
John seems to hold some beliefs very contradictory to SOAD's manifesto as he is very openly a trump supporter. Naturally this causes a lot of tension between him and Serj especially, of course they love each other very deeply as SOAD have always had a sort of brotherhood, just John holds some controversial beliefs and defends them fiercely
I've always respected SOAD for having the balls to do things like this knowing the us could easily snatch them up and cover the act with lies! Keep rocking on!
Because we still live in a capitalist society and these kind of things will keep happening until we as workers fight to overcome this dumb mode of production
Try living in Iraq with Saddam Hussein in power, then tell me how disgusting it is. Kim Jong Un and Mexican Drug Cartels would rather you live in a world where good men do nothing so they can continue to commit crimes unnoticed.

Just remembered this song while watching all the horrible news coming from Gaza right now. 20 years later and sadly war isn't over yet and things haven't changed

+STEPHANIE RR. That's so true. SOAD makes these kinds of clips because they're experienced as they were children. And Serj was a survivor of the bombing I think
This was filmed on my 14th birthday. I remember walking down town in the frozen streets of my small town that day so depressed about the announcement of the war. I had no idea these protests were happening, but a few months later, I saw this video. It was my intro to SOAD and the war protests both. Knowing there were so many people out there who felt the same, and finding this amazing music, helped get me through those horrible teen years of war.

@@NF-ru8on didn't understand your point. SOAD since from the begining has political lyrics against system (even in their band name), so why did the video not aged well? This is more important than ever
The band has stayed true it wasn’t just Serj who wrote the lyrics it was Daron as well, the band as a whole has this view, they are still against war in a modern society, even though johns a right winger he is against war. He’s more of a businessman so naturally he believes in right wing polices. Even since their first album they’ve been anti war, against fascism, they are populists. They believe everyone has a right to live and live in peace. Not be played in a political game of Thrones.
This song was written more than 21 years ago, and still today we are doing more wars and this piece is still very current, why? Every war of this kind is the same as the others, the only things that change are the subjects of war, war is the worst thing ever done by man and in any case, after all the wars we have made, we are still here to bombard each other, and in the end those who suffer are only the civilians.

They do it because it creates profit for businesses who bribe the politicians. It’s not a failure of negotiations. It’s the success of negotiations between American businesses and politicians.
Be the system of a down
unless you can be Tankian, then always be Tankian
be a tankian, not a tankie
THIS SONG IS ONCE AGAIN RELEVANT. BE SAFE EVERYONE! I LOVE YOU HUMANS!
system of a down will always be my favorite band of all time, these themes never get old. no matter how many years pass, boom will always be relevant
2024 and this video has me in tears. ✌️
I am watching this in 2024 and nothing has changed since this came out in 2004. I am 32 fuck this reality...
Who’s listening in 2020? More relevant then ever.
Unfortunately, yes it is.
2020 over here
Sadly people are forgetting how awful this war was (and continues to be). These bastards are getting rehabilitated

@@zd2263 and being welcomed by DNC. If biden wins half of the bush administration will be welcomed with open arms.. how the fuck is this liberalism? The irony. Biden and harris voted for the illegal war.. sorry "operation Iraqi Freedom" . As a liberal at age 35, and lost so many people , protesting this since 15, I am urging the younger generation to stop... research.. read history and see how monsterous bush is. This whole "miss me yet?" Memes are disturbing. The DNC is basically the bush administration now. Look at the policies and who is endorsingwhom. Don't just take my word for it, research it you guys, please! Ironically there have been less war under trump, and that leaves a terrible taste on my mouth to say because I hate trump but my level of hate for bush/cheney is on a whole different level.
The "Why must we kill our own kind" gives me creeps every time.
Anyone listening to this masterpiece in 2024?
This song is mote relevant than ever
it genuinely feels like it's never not gonna be relevant. War never changes, they're always being fought and it's just becoming gruesome for some reason. It's sick that humans never learn.
and they say that rock n' roll is a bad influence. PFFHHT!
JuanDanny My teacher says before we leave on Friday she always says no sex no drugs no rock ‘n’ roll
This isn't rock and roll my guy
it just happens to be most of those who believe this are the very people soads lyrics criticise
@Luke Steiner still rock
But youre saying metal is or what?
I speak with everyone in mind System of a Down is some of the best hands down music writers of all time and I really hope all the comments I made on their videos saying that I want them back eventually work
the animated part is one of the best things ive ever seen in my life
This is my fav SOAD video because it speaks the truth. We need peace not war!!
Pizzaman15611 We were at peace until we were preemptively launched into an unnecessary war
War is peace and strength is ignorance
Radical Islam = "You leave us alone, we'll kill you anyway"
Serj Tankian or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love System of a Down
İ see what you did there
Dr. Strangelove.
I also see what you did there.
*Dr. Serjlove
Sorrow In A Can nice reference.
The world is so stupid that will probably end like Dr. Strangelove too xD
2:18 best part
And it's kinda weird
There comes a time in your life where following orders blindly does not justify your actions.
This band's lyrics never disappoint me. God I love this band.
Сегодня я вновь вернулась сюда. Почему за чужие амбиции должны гибнуть мирные люди? Больно, что эта песня не теряет своей актуальности...

Its so relevant for world condition today
If this song doesn't give you goosebumps you have no soul. 💯
I remember when MTV actually aired this
They could never do that nowadays. That kind of subject is too sensitive for 2020 people.
@@CUTIE_POXX it is. The media is only getting better and better at controlling us. And yet we still submit. I cant sit idly by watching this go to shit.
You mean when MTV was good?

Do you guys also get chills when listening to this song?
I fucking cry when I'm listening it!
Yes every time 👍👍
15 years and still not a fucking thing has changed
We need this again ❤❤
Every time you drop the bomb,
You kill the god your child has born.
One of the best lines I've ever read/heard
I don’t get it I hope it isn’t anything Christian
@@sirspongadoodle ofc not lol
and the sad thing about this is: 10 years later, and nothing changed.
SOAD you will always stay in my heart ♥
By far, the best System of a Down video. I still get chills watching it.
Every hair on my body stands up while listening to this song, even over 2 decades after you shot this footage.
RATM, SOAD and Muse are ones of a few heavy rock bands that frequently put in universal, humanity messages in their lyrics, such as these.
💪💪💪
"RATM"?

Hace años queria volver escuchar esta cancion. Lamentablemente el mundo sigue igual. Destruyendose por las guerras y el hambre
System should do Boom II, about the Syrian conflict
Pow!
Konstantin Grujevski that’s good 😂
They should do one about Political Correctness, racism, sexism, that must be stopped because it's getting out of hand now in these modern days.
And about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict too.
And ww3 that might happen
I was in the Philippines when I first hear this song and was in high school. This song has never been relevant more than ever
