  • I want to protect my windshield from cracks and chips as much as possible. So, I installed a Windshield Defense Kit by Racing Optics to see if it can help. This is a long term test product sent by the company. I figured I’d try it out and see if it actually works. Check it out at: racingopticsje...

Been running this product both on my JT and my wife's JL ... each has taken some direct rock impacts without damage. I'm happy with it ....

Do you think the layers last at least 6 months?

I got the Gorilla Glass replacement for my JK. I replaced my windshield using unsafelite at least once a year. 4 years running and not even a rock pick after multiple hits.

Chipped windshields are a fact of life.
    Thanks for the video!

My brother lives in TX and also has a gladiator. So, hopefully he can avoid the chips for a while. Thanks for stopping in!

Gorilla glue and clear packing tape. It’ll prevent the rock chip from spreading. When you get a rock chip. Dap gorilla glue and cover it with the tape

I’ve never tried that before. I usually buy the repair kits by Permatex. Interesting idea. I repaired a chip in a guitar with super glue once and sanded it down. It looked perfect afterwards.

    4 windshields in 2 years!
One was a rock from a passing truck that hit the windshield with such force it shot glass shards into the back seat!

Ouch. That’s a lot of windshields. Are you considering something like this to add some protection?

Thank you for making this video! I am really curious to see how this holds up for you! Could you do a six month review or when you decide to peel the first layer?

It's a awesome idea but the cost is just crazy !!!! I can see spending a hundred bucks or so on it but 230 + is just greedy !!! There are ways to have the factory Easter egg still when a replacement windshield is needed , although the Easter eggs are cool if it comes down to spending a small fortune to get a replacement with it I'll just go without it !!!

Makes sense. I’m still happy with it after two weeks. We’ll see how it goes over the next few months.

I remember doing window tinting work on my windows..😂😂 simple procedure but it is hard to keep dust out. They sure can be pesky

I’ve tried three or four times with small particles every time. But, I’ve also paid an install a few times with zero issues. That’s why I kept mentioning it in the video. I’m happy I installed it either way.

Now you just need some cables on each side keeping tree branches from slapping the windshield.

I’ve heard that they don’t really help as much as folks think they will.

Would a warranty replace the windshield? Would a new one through a dealership have the Easter egg or do they get supplied from a 3rd party?

    • @OffGridAdventure
      @OffGridAdventure  4 месяца назад

A warranty typically won’t replace the windshield. Also, it depends on your insurance. If you go to the dealership and pay for an OEM replacement, you’ll get the Easter egg. Otherwise, you’ll get a generic replacement for much less.

Mopar windshield installed was quoted around $600, Gorilla Glass $1000, aftermarket $300.

The style of video, or the video intro? These videos are a little easier to make than the cinematic adventures that don’t seem to get as much engagement.
