all i can say is... anybody who is planning to watch this drama should watch it and dont listen to the complains about the ending because it wasn't bad at all! not sad at all! only mysterious ending..but this people who are complaining about the ending is ruining it for anyone who is planning to watch it because watching the whole series will worth it 10times more. i had watched lots of korean drama but this is a MUST SEE! ONE OF THE BEST..no corny part, no over acting..everything is so good
I suggest you watch Moon Lovers Scarlet Heart (shot this year) and Two Weeks. They are completely different series but in both he shows his superb acting skills.

Cảnh quay đau lòng thì quá nhiều, nhưng nhớ mãi cảnh tương phản giữa 2 người cha. Một người giết con trai ruột, còn một người vì con trai nuôi mà chết. Thứ hai, nếu so với nữ chính, một tiểu thư xinh đẹp, hiền lành, tốt bụng thì trong phim mình thích nhân vật Boong Soon hơn. Tuy ngoại hình, hoàn cảnh thua kém nhưng vì nam chính mà hết lòng. Nói chung đây là bộ phim đáng xem nhất mình từng xem, cũng may sad ending, làm người xem còn có nhiều thứ mà lưu luyến, bứt rứt, còn nếu HE chưa chắc bộ phim đã để lại trong lòng người xem nhiều dư vị như thế.
giống tui... xem từ hồi cấp 2, h năm nhất đại học, xem lại cảm xúc khó tả gần như lúc xem lần đầu vậy, đoạn ông cha nuôi mất, Joong khóc wá trời, làm tui phải khóc theo như mưa, tội cho ông cha nuôi.Đa số phim có S.E thì mới để lại cảm xúc trong lòng ng xem, làm cho ng xem nhớ mãi những khoảnh khắc cảm động trong phim(nhất là cái End buồn).

Cảm giác yêu mà vô dụng, k hy sinh vì tình yêu như chị kia.

actually i know lee junki from my girl but after i saw this drama oh my i cry a lot in this drama specially when his sister died in front of him and i cried so many times at that moment lee junki is really touch my heart!!!!from then on i love junki so much!!
This is one of my favorite kdrama.. If only they extended this for 1 or 2 episodes that this will be the unforgettable drama of all time.. They left the ending hanging.. But still, lee junki did a good job in his role.. I remembered my desktop display is his masked iljimae photo for several months!
I still love yong with Eun chae,yong is true love her,Eun chae love him,too.She said he was the last love of her life,so he can not live with bongsun happy life.I know she is very distressed ,but their relationship is more like brother and sister, not like a lover

As a Korean fan, I literally stopped watching Korean dramas ever since Iljimae (일지매) 'cause I have no more place in my heart to love characters other than Iljimae/LJK. I am surprised to see so many non-Korean fans of this drama & LJK.
Yeah.. and even though how he deserves the world and how many we are.. still I think he's under-rated. I MEAN NOT ON AWARDS since he won so many already but in popularity. Like Lee Min Ho is the it Korean boy in my country but I really dont get why. LEE JOON GI IS SO MUCH BETTER.

As for me I have stopped for years already even with the pandemic where people are bound to watch kdramas to fight boredness.. as for me I didnt since I'm a BTS army and they've got lots of contents so I don't have any problem with regards to boredom.. But by the moment I saw 4th Prince So on Scarlet Heart Ryeo just this July, I got hooked already. Even surprised that he's the same boy I love from My Girl, 15 years ago. From then I researched more about him and now trying to catch up with everything I missed. With the span of 1 month, I'm done with Scarlet Heart, Flower of Evil, Fly Daddy Fly, Virgin Snow, and The King and the Clown. I'm torn between this ILjimae and Criminal Minds on what to watch next. Now I'm Like I swear I'm only going back to Kdrama if only if it's LEE JOON GI. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. HE'S SO TALENTED, he can also rap, sing and dance and into martial arts.. he usually doesn't use a double for his stunts. PLUS HIS PERSONALITY. DAMN. How can he be so perfect?

BTS or anyone who rocks cannot rock me anymore any longer. It's that kind of change in life. However I still go back to this melancholy music every now and then and stay girly. Lee JunKi's acting somehow rings me and makes me cry for some unknown reason. He's very special. I don't see this deep acting anywhere else. Just him. Iljimae character is very well designed and played in this drama. Thank you for sharing this special feeling. You're also awesome! Just one little advice (I may be as old as your mom), I'm proud my home country Korea (I live in the US for 30 years) produced K Pop trends, but I don't want to see promising youngsters fall in this pop culture and waste valuable time. Study stock market and invest instead even with small amount of money. Broaden your perspectives in world politics & economy (while not following political correctness or any other evil agendas influential folks or governments try to spread). Better yet, be saved by accepting Jesus Christ as your lord & savior (if you haven't yet). I grow wealth & organic garden instead of watching K dramas. I came to understand what enriches life more and put into practice. Huge results! Right focus truly pays off. But I'll keep listening to this song once in a while..

cant believe i just watched this.i didnt try watching before bcause i dont like lee jun ki, n i dont like classic settings except The moon that embraces d sun.how could i miss this before.this is such a great drama. i got hooked to d story n to leejunki,he's a great actor,he really knows how to play his emotions. in just 2 days i finished watching it.cant sleep till im done.
so do I. This is the second time i see this film. And I must say, it's a masterpiece. The chemistry among the characters in this serie is so intense that I couldn't forget, especially the one between Lee Goeme and Eun Chae. seeing them together, it feels so good. Even they're apart from each other, their heart still belongs to each other. They belong together by faith and by love. And the soundtracks of this film, oh my, it's beyond compared to any OST of Korean film I've ever heard before because they describe exactly the feeling of the character in each moment. I wish that there'll be a season 2 of Iljimae with both of Lee Joon Gi and Han Hyo Joo still playing the roles Iljimae and Eun Chae and as well as other actors and actresses. I truthfully wish it will happen.

For me Yong and Bong Soon were like Book Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter. No hate to other lead actress but tbh Bong really deserve yong. She literally did everything for him and they were really together in their bads and goods. I know for Iljimae and Eun Cha they were each other's first love but some time it's not everything to be together. Where as Bong Soon and Yong have every possible ways to be together !!! Becoz both are alone and deserve to live happy together. I don't know if Yong loved Bong enough to leave Eun and be with her ... But by judging their actions I think yes he too loved Bong Soon !!!! Just my thoughts 😊

For Bong Soon, He causes her bro die, so, he feels guilty, that's why he wants to protect her ( and he knows that he cant end up with Eun Chae, so he sincerely ask Bong Soon that if it is OK for her if he loves Eun Chae for the rest of his life).

this is the best drama i have ever watched,,, i hate historical and action and sad dramas but this drama had everything suspense action romance comedy melodrama..i just fucking love it, ive watched it 5 times and im in love with the main guyy... he is soo hot!! best drama ever!

Okay,I think 'The princess's man' and 'Deep rooted tree' is good Deep rooted tree is a high level drama, but it was watched by many people all around the world. There's and enemy to fight with, but it isn't actually 100% sword-fighting. Word fighting? Plus, the ending is so sad, but satisfying. The princess's man is mainly love. Funny and sad kdrama. 1 of the kdrama IV watched that don't have a boredom scene and 2nd historical. Lee Joon ji acted so natural. It could be funny or serious scene.lately, I was so scared watching historical, the reason was I might get bore but because of scarlet heart, I got interested in historical drama, kya thanks to scarlet heart and Lee Joon ji.
The ending is that ILJIMAE IS NOT DEAD! remember the first episode?< it is the after story! it has iljimae and his 3 friends sitting and iljimae is like "there's no place I cant rob, b/c I am iljimae!" see? he robs a new place! O.o anyway, i just can't believe that he is dead :(

@@summerbear93 Wow, you know him so well. Most likely I'm not your generation and I don't watch or listen too much of pop culture ever since I was saved through Jesus Christ as my lord & savior. BTS or anyone who rocks cannot rock me anymore any longer. It's that kind of change in life. However I still go back to this melancholy music every now and then and stay girly. Lee JunKi's acting somehow rings me and makes me cry for some unknown reason. He's very special. I don't see this deep acting anywhere else. Just him. Iljimae character is very well designed and played in this drama. Thank you for sharing this special feeling. You're also awesome! Just one little advice (I may be as old as your mom), I'm proud my home country Korea (I live in the US for 30 years) produced K Pop trends, but I don't want to see promising youngsters fall in this pop culture and waste valuable time. Study stock market and invest instead even with small amount of money. Broaden your perspectives in world politics & economy (while not following political correctness or any other evil agendas influential folks or governments try to spread).
Better yet, be saved by accepting Jesus Christ as your lord & savior (if you haven't yet). I grow wealth & organic garden instead of watching K dramas. I came to understand what enriches life more and put into practice. Huge results! Right focus truly pays off. But I'll keep listening to this song once in a while..

You just need to balance and keep everything in moderation, you'll be good. And yes, no matter how I fangirl over BTS and LeeJoonGi there will only be one God whom I adore, worship and thank so much. My faith in HIM even grew bigger when I came to know these people who He made as instruments to bring joy, hope and positivity on Earth.

so do I. This is the second time i see this film. And I must say, it's a masterpiece. The chemistry among the characters in this serie is so intense that I couldn't forget, especially the one between Lee Goeme and Eun Chae. seeing them together, it feels so good. Even they're apart from each other, their heart still belongs to each other. They belong together by faith and by love. And the soundtracks of this film, oh my, it's beyond compared to any OST of Korean film I've ever heard before because they describe exactly the feeling of the character in each moment. I wish that there'll be a season 2 of Iljimae with both of Lee Joon Gi and Han Hyo Joo still playing the roles Iljimae and Eun Chae and as well as other actors and actresses. I truthfully wish it will happen.
The boy appearing at the end of the final episode is the child of Soe Dol et Dani
iljimae 2 has been out since 2009 with the actor jung il woo. and the title is the return of iljimae.

For me Yong and Bong Soon were like Book Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter. No hate to other lead actress but tbh Bong really deserve yong. She literally did everything for him and they were really together in their bads and goods. I know for Iljimae and Eun Cha they were each other's first love but some time it's not everything to be together. Where as Bong Soon and Yong have every possible ways to be together !!! Becoz both are alone and deserve to live happy together. I don't know if Yong loved Bong enough to leave Eun and be with her ... But by judging their actions I think yes he too loved Bong Soon !!!! Just my thoughts 😊

Funny and sad kdrama. 1 of the kdrama IV watched that don't have a boredom scene and 2nd historical. Lee Joon ji acted so natural. It could be funny or serious scene.lately, I was so scared watching historical, the reason was I might get bore but because of scarlet heart, I got interested in historical drama, kya thanks to scarlet heart and Lee Joon ji.
