So Basically, Black mesa is a Remake of Half Life 1 and Black Mesa Classic is a Demake of a Remake. So, They just Made Half-Life but with Extra Details.
I think the updates Valve made to the engine in the 25th anniversary update will make for a new era of HL1 mods now that some of the engine limits have been boosted greatly.
One thing I hope they can change for the mod is the wall. In black mesa the walls are painted wall with the upper half painted white and lower half brown, while in the original halflife the lower parts are wood. They seems to have kept the wood for this mod, but it makes the mod feels way too similar to original halflife and kind of missing the identity of a black mesa demake (unless it is just a placeholder and they will change it later)
Imagine if you could time travel into the future, and find out in an era of a holodeck like experience where they can zap it straight into your brain. They're still remaking Half-Life except it's gradually changed over time to something almost unrecognisable.
Its crazy to think about this project. Imagine seeing this back in 2004. Black Mesa did some levels better than hl1 like the first 6 so seeing Xen is going to be a treat
Black mesa's Xen was quite the experience: absolutely amazing visuals, music and atmosphere, brought down by some incredibly bad and repetitive puzzle gameplay. They somehow made Interloper worse than the original. It has some epic moments but it's like Xen is cursed lol
Loving the look of this! I can run Black Mesa easily on my PC but there is something... nostalgic about GoldSrc. And this demake of the remake looks fantastic so far.

I think you should all be aware that the same team behind Black Mesa Classic also plans to remake Hostile Takeover, which I've been writing the story for. I've taken quite a few liberties with the story, expanding the overall plotline and exploring new ideas, but the core of Hostile Takeover is still present.

All of this make me even more curious about how they play to do some of the wide open spaces like in Interloper that relies on the wide areas to work. They only have roughly a 500x500x500 foot work space per map, which makes especially the final interloper elevator more difficult to pull off.
I honestly cannot wait to see goldsrc's 2020 version of Xen I wonder how far they'll go with keeping the textures from the original game with those areas. Or how they'll make the Gonarch encounter work.
Black Mesa Classic glock with the transparent old mags with the visible bullets? So dope. Great looking mod with some promise for sure I'd play it. Would love that as a gmod swep for my loadout mod that I have to spawn in upon loading a map.
I hope they find a way to reimplement the Source-style flashlight as an option, at least. I enjoy the old flashlight for what it is, but at the same time it can get pretty irritating. Do you think with enough remake-demake cycles we can eventually refine Half-Life into its final, perfect form? :P

Yes, because there is no real light source in GoldSrc, and is extremely hard use external plugins for adapt a "decent" flashlight. LambdaGeberation talks about this in the video. :P

none of the first 6 chapters are better than the original (except maybe anomalous materials or blast pit because i think it's faster in bm's speedrun)
