How to make a Stepper Motor Controller (Without using a micro controller)

In this video I am going to show you how to make a stepper motor controller using a 555 timer IC.
This homemade stepper motor controller can control the speed and the direction of a four wire stepper motor. The controller is based around the popular A4988 stepper motor driver. The PWM signal is provided to the board using a 555 timer IC which make this whole project very simple.
To make the whole controller convenient to use I have designed the Printed Circuit Boards and ordered them from PCBWAY.com. They are providing great quality PCBs at an outstanding prices.

@@DIYKingSaM Following are the few I observed:
- Always SHOW safety precautions in the video specially use hand gloves while cutting something with grinder or circular saw.
- Always use hacksaw blade WITH FRAME and not the only blade with naked hands.
- Say "Let's build it" instead of "built".
- Avoid reflection on your eye glasses while talking to audience.

@DIY King I am trying to actuate a sewing machine servo motor via a mouthpiece for a double amputee. Do you think I could adapt this project to actuate a foot pedal using a clench piece in the shape of a clothes-pin with an angle position sensor to send the PWM to the controller?
I was just wondering if a knob style potentiometer would be more convenient to use rather than a screwdriver. Is it easy to solder one into the same circuit board?

How can this be scaled up to run an 1800 oz/in stepper incorporating the same features?
I like your design, but I had one question. The A4988 datasheet specifies to put a 100uf capacitor electrolytic capacitor between VMOT and GND, but you don't have that. Almost all other designs that use this type of driver chip do and as the datasheet recommends it I was wondering why you don't have that capacitor.

Dear if i would like to use this circuit for my up coming project of CNC so i need to turn ON and turn OFF by RDNO so how can i control switching in this circuit because this circuit is directly ON as you shown in this video. Is anyway that i can control by pulse. Please reply. By the way quite informative and useful video for me . Thanks.
Only way to control by pulse is use a microcontroller

can we use Nema 23 3A 2.2nm Stepper motor with this controller please answer my question
I believe it will work, but it will likely not be able to supply enough power to run the motor at full power/torque. i recommend using a more powerful stepper motor driver.

This is not making a "real Stepper Motor Controller" from scratch, since you're using a commercial "Stepper Motor Controller", the only thing is ur adding a 555 timer to drive the commercial Stepper Motor Controller. As again this video does not show u how to make a Stepper Motor Controller.
