The elephant in the room here is that the reason Arsenal find themselves in these situations over and over again where isolated incidents are defining their games, is because they are too focused on reducing their games down to fine margins and eliminating risk. Ironically, this is then leaving them more vulnerable to poor results, whereas if they were to reduce their fear of opponents expressing themselves and instead focused on getting the full expression out of their own team, they’d be much better off. They need to have a mentality of “you may get one but we’ll score two or three” rather than obsessing so much over duels, margins, variance.

Spurs vs Liverpool last season, Curtis Jones trapped the ball and his foot rolled over the top and his studs caught the Spurs player's shin. VAR sent the ref to the monitor and on it was a still image of Jone's studs up on the shin. Red card. Getting the ball first was irrelevant on that occasion. Later the same season, Doku had his studs in Mac Allister's chest in the penalty area. No foul, VAR wasn't interested. Apparently touching the ball first mattered that time. Getting the ball first matters when they want it to and doesn't when they don't.

The media are a disgrace when it comes to Arsenal. That's why Arsenal has faced so many controversial decisions over the years from the officials, especially in the Premier League. If Arsenal tries to challenge for Liverpool, these officials become an obstruction to Arsenal. I guarantee you that we'll see the penalty decision with a different outcome, just like the Saliba red card earlier.
@@hlonisoulo3033 watch it again. You know that play when the attacking player gets to the ball first, pokes it past the keeper or defender and gets taken down? That's exactly what happened here. He pushes the ball to go around the defender and Saliba takes him out with his head.

The question that the panel should ask this so called pundits is: Did you guys ever seen a penalty given in this circumstances? Pundits: No never seen! This is a first Then their explanation is irrelevant if they never seen such a call from the refs 😂😂😂
An ex Liverpool player says it’s a penalty. What a shock. You slide tackle in the box and touch the ball first before touching the player it’s no pen. Touch the ball with your head before touching the pleyer it’s no pen.
There is no controversy about the penalty. There are those who say it was a penalty, and those who are wrong. There is controversy about Brighton's manhandling of Arsenal's players without penalty. (Literally in some cases)
I've never seen Arsenal so scared to play smaller teams until Arteta. Being cautious against teams like this is not how title winners act. I don't care if Brighton are good and if they beat some other teams, if Arsenal want to be the best they have to act like it and learn to dominant games not just by useless possession but also with chance creation.
Problem with Arsenal fans … can never admit anything that goes against their club. If that was on Martinelli you’d screaming penalty. I actually can’t believe there’s even talk about that … it’s a more clear pen than when players mistime the tackle. This one is more dangerous.
Because these ESPN frauds say it’s a pen doesn’t mean it is. Absolute load of malarky. Saliba challenged for the ball got the ball then the man was collateral damage. Whether the player touch the ball as well or he touched the player after that or not is none of his business. Shaka’s commentary even made the least sense, if you kick someone in the box but it hits the ball on the way, it’s not a pen. So all these rival fans that talk about ‘no excuses’ but their actual lives are riddled with them should STFU.
it’s in arsenal culture most of the season and games when they score first rarely whenever the ey score first, even this season their playing style is not at standard winning mentality very low
@FRAZZ2017 Ipswich against Chelsea got a penalty when there was just a hair touch on Delap, while against Everton even when Pickford took out the man nothing was given. So not Chelsea
@@preethamhazard The rules keep changing.....why was Newcastle goal stand when Joelinton clearly handled the ball before the goal? Any hand ball before a goal is always cancelled usually & where was VAR?
I don’t often post comments, BUT, the logic that an accidental impact is just as much of a foul as a deliberate one works in both directions. Saliba may have touched the ball accidentally, but he touched it. How many times have watched VAR look for the slightest touch and if it’s there, given a penalty, regardless that everyone knows the player went down completely deliberately the moment he felt the touch. Saliba touched the ball before the player. No penalty should have been given by VAR. They 100% got this wrong on a completely technical issue that they had a camera angle to see.
Waw, never heard a bullcrap like that one by Stevie Nicols. Arsenal lack desire to go and win the Premier League! How does he sees that? Are these pundits only speaking to create headlines or what? The team tries and Arteta didn't even speak about the penalty before the media kept asking and insisting. Teams drop points. Liverpool has been competing for the Premier League in the last 7 seasons and have won it once during covid. Once they failed short with 91 points to Man City 92 was it because they lacked desire? Let me just remind you that in the same time they have played 3 Champions League finals and one Europa League final winning only 1 Champions League trophy. Did they lack desire too? What about the season where they had all the 4 trophies on sight and ended up with only the Carabao cup and the FA cup? Stop nonsense. Winning a trophy like the PL or the Champions League is not a walk in the park where only you have to desire it. Others too work hard to get the same trophy and sometime you fall short no matter how much you desire it.
All that nonsense you typed, ASSna FC aka Bottlers haven't won a trophy in a long time, but their delusional fans like you keep making excuses for them. Comparing Liverpool last season, where they actually won a trophy to ASSna is silly!
They should discuss the “accidental foul” in the Spurs vs Newscastle game that had Anthony Gordon bleeding all over the place but there was no foul or penalty given. It was apparently an accidental shoulder barge from Kulusevski.
That's not what he said, no more than saying that a player making a late challenge with his foot kicked a player means that you are saying he deliberately kicked that player. Jesus wept; some people.
Steve, shaka and moreno you guys are the worst hypocrites in the world!!! The worst pundits!! You guys are so blinded with bias judgment. That was never a penalty!! Does the referees award penalty every time that situations happens?? Of course no!!! Saliba intentionally headed the ball and with two players contesting for the ball, obviously, there's going to be some form of contact. If this is a penalty, then we should be expecting a lot of penalty during corner kicks or crosses into the box 18. In years of watching football, I have never seen a penalty decision like that ever!!! And if you guys are honest pundits, I bet you have never seen such a penalty decision before in your life. You guys are the one encouraging poor officiating from these incompetent premier league referees. Because the poor decisions are not going against your team. It's okay for you guys to defend poor decisions from the referees as long as it doesn't affect your team. Nonsense it was not a penalty. Most of you guys hate Arsenal. I don't expect anything better from ESPN.
So true
The elephant in the room here is that the reason Arsenal find themselves in these situations over and over again where isolated incidents are defining their games, is because they are too focused on reducing their games down to fine margins and eliminating risk. Ironically, this is then leaving them more vulnerable to poor results, whereas if they were to reduce their fear of opponents expressing themselves and instead focused on getting the full expression out of their own team, they’d be much better off.
They need to have a mentality of “you may get one but we’ll score two or three” rather than obsessing so much over duels, margins, variance.
'(Liverpool) all their best players fit & firing.'
So sick of this. Konate, Gomez, Bradley out. We had Alisson, Jota, Elliott, Chiesa, Tsimikas, etc were all out for significant time too.

Idk why "getting the ball first" gets tossed around so casually. Getting a nick and then taking out the man doesn't mean ur in the right
Spurs vs Liverpool last season, Curtis Jones trapped the ball and his foot rolled over the top and his studs caught the Spurs player's shin.

At first I actually thought it was a penalty as it looked like a clear headbutt, but MOTD proved that Saliba actually headed the ball first before the clash of heads. VAR should have corrected the referee.
just because it touches your head doesn't mean you're purposefully heading it and have control, I honestly haven't watched much besides a small clip, but I think your premise is flawed
So if I’m running with the ball and a player slides in as I make a pass, the ball clips his knee and then he wipes me out, by your logic that’s not a foul because he ‘won the ball’
Pedro had the best chance to follow the ball if no headbutt, 100% penalty.
Bro he took Pedro out of the game... Pedro was gonna continue the play If Saliba didnt headbut him. If Saliba was faster it could be interpretated as a head collision challenge, but Saliba came too slow so its not considered a head clash. Pedro wasnt applyng any force when he got headbutted...

Steve is 100% Right! Gordon was way different! He runs in to kuru shoulder.

Because these ESPN frauds say it’s a pen doesn’t mean it is. Absolute load of malarky. Saliba challenged for the ball got the ball then the man was collateral damage. Whether the player touch the ball as well or he touched the player after that or not is none of his business. 😭 Do you need a tissue?😭😭 Crymore
There was nothing controversial about the penalty. It was an obvious penalty. The Arsenal player was lucky not to get a red card.
The controversy is that only Arsenal get these decisions given against us.
Yep remember when the keeper completely missed the ball and punched a player in the head they said that’s just unfortunate no penalty🤣
