i finally finished collecting banana fish recently, now working on haikyuu and its a struggle, can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the manga and anime of banana fish!!
Love your collection, I’ve been addicted to watching manga collection videos lately, it’s great seeing everyone’s tastes and how they choose to display everything. I have a Yuri recommendation for you if you’re interested, it’s called The Summer You Were There (Kimi to Tsuzuru Utakata). The mc feels guilt for how she treated someone when she was younger and hates herself. It’s got similar vibes to A Silent Voice, but I don’t want to spoil anything. It’s very heartwarming and made me tear up several times.
I collected all of Blue Giant and when that pervy stuff happened in Volume 1 I got really worried. I pushed through and nothing like that ever happened again! I'm not a fan that it was there to begin with though. Anyway, I ended up enjoying it!

Descending Stories is one I keep seeing recently! I need to look into it! HIGH SCHOOL DEBUT!!! It made me so so so happy to hear you say its one of your favorite shoujo manga! I second everything you said about Kimi ni Todoke! WOW! It's amazing to see you have Kids on the Slope! Would you recommend it? I've been super curious about it after getting a recommendation for it! Yes yes yes to Kaiju No. 8! One of my favorite ongoing shonen manga too! I just got Toilet Bound Hanako-kun because I've really been enjoying the beginning! I'm hoping it doesn't get TOO dark! LOL! Have you read any wandance? It’s focused on a high school dance team with just a few volumes out so far. I like it so far but wouldn’t say it’s amazing, though the way the dancing in particular is drawn is really cool. Seems like it could be up your alley with the sports aspect
hi i have!! i’ve read 3 volumes of it (it’s on my shelf near the end of the video), i love the art and the dynamic between the main characters, their friendship is great (and maybe it will develop into more? 👁️)
thank you! and thanks for the recommendation! i think i’ve seen like one episode of the anime for that but i’ve always been interested in getting more into the series
*Villains are Destined to Die* is SO good! I love isekai especially the 'villainess' subgenre--for a comedic (but very sweet and wholesome) take, *My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to DOOM!* is kind of the gold standard; but my personal favorites are *Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter* and also *The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen,* since they are less about romance and more about them using the knowledge from their former lives to try and improve their kingdoms and the lives of their citizens. it's what got me into isekai after I was burned by isekai with male protagonists--which mostly seems to be cringeworthy wish fulfillment in the vein of 'what if some loser dude got sent into a fantasy world and he was the HERO and all~ the big-boobie ladies LOVE HIM' a;dkjghdaklfjgh.
i believe i bought volumes 1-13 secondhand on mercari and the rest i kind of pieced together from other sites and when rightstuf existed they had most the volumes
@@tsukkinotes I usually like gag sort of comedy and I think I didn’t give Arakawa proper chance. With my Adhd, I shouldn’t have binged the anime, which made me lose track of the characters being introduced and their dialogue. If I do get a chance, will try the manga this time.
thank you!! and i plan to read it when the english release comes out! (very unexpected that they decided to print it but so excited to finally be able to read it)
I have a question about Crossplay Love, is the incest plotline brought up a lot or was the misunderstanding destroyed right in volume 2? because I dropped the series when I saw that Punk dude's little brother confessing to him/her in the vol 2 sneak peak, if the misunderstanding was destroyed or it rarely gets brought up in the next 2 then I'll pick up volume 2 (and 3).
i had to look at the volume to see what you were talking about because i had no memory of an incest plotline … so that is not his brother, he is in terms of like their little delinquent band, the punk guy is their leader so they are all like “brothers” so if what was concerning you was that they are actually related then 😅 but yes he does continue to pursue punk in his crossdressing getup
@@tsukkinotes I also have a bad memory about it since I read the first volume of Crossplay love in like the end of September or during October of 2022, I must've misunderstood it when I read it and dropped it ever since to not fix the confusion I had, Anyway, good to know! it was really cute and I loved the characters, so I will 100% pick up volume 2 and 3 now that my misconception is over! 😅
I bought one volume of Whistle! and haven't read it yet - can you speak on how the manga is? the vibes, if there's anything problematic, that kind of stuff? I'm a huge Sayonara Football fan and I played soccer for 13 years so I love a good soccer manga moment but don't know much about Whistle!
of the 10 volumes i've read whistle is great. the soccer is realistic and i LOVE the characters. the story really delves into their personal/home lives and how that affects their relationship to soccer and i am definitely a sucker for sports manga with these elements. it is an underdog story as well if you like that setup, the mc is very short and his team is kind of starting from the ground up. in terms of the sports elements i would compare it to haikyu and in terms of like a good mix of drama/ slice of life elements i would compare it to big windup! hope this helps (i don't remember any problematic elements, the mcs older brother is a host though)
@@tsukkinotes awesome thank you!!! this sounds like something I'd really enjoy, big Haikyu fan here as well so I appreciate you taking the time to help me out :-)

thank you! and yes haha it is kinda fun to have an opinion different from the majority but i thought it was nice even though i would have loved for the ending to be more fleshed out
I started reading High school debut but dropped it. The male lead is too snobby for me and I find that the girl doesn’t have much self respect for herself ^^; And about Skip and Loafer, I actually hope that the story doesn’t go into a romance direction and that the two MCs stay as good friends. I think I might start collecting the series if it’s like that
i love high school debut but everyone has different tastes! and so far from what i've read skip and loafer is more of a coming of age, friendship story
yes and no,, in japan all of these volumes were released separate of one another (not numbered like volumes 1-6), i have no idea why they did this in the english release tbh but that means technically everything is standalone. in english volume 4 is more like a spin off about a character in volumes 1-3 and volume 5 is a short story collection that features chapters about all characters in the doukyuusei “universe” so to say. volume 5 has some content revolving the couple from volume 4 but i have it pretty much just for the chapters about the couple from 1-3 (sorry if this is confusing) 😭 volume 6 is like the sequel of 1-3 about more of their adult life so i would say 4 is worth the read if you want the FULL picture but not necessary especially since it explores triggering themes
Can you read Japanese? There’s this manga that I absolutely love called Tougen Anki and the manga isn’t out in English but I found a few volumes on EBay in Japanese and I’m thinking about getting them even though I can’t read Japanese.
I never understood the 18+ rating on My Dress-Up Darling there is just a small portion of nudity in it and that's it then there are other manga with gore and other adult themes that are 15+ to 16+ like Battle Angel Alita for example for the record I love both Alita/Gunnm and My Dress-Up Darling
ya i think square enix is really cautious with their age ratings for some reason, one of the other series they publish (cherry magic) also has the explicit tag when all the main characters have done is kiss, literally nothing else
I am with you, the thrill of the chase is not for me. Sometimes I am like man I wish I was rich so I could just buy series I want without having to hunt for a bargain and whatnot. I would be interested in more in depth GL recommendations from you as a lesbian, I want to get into it but I have been burned before where it’s a series that is well known and it ends up being gross and fetishistic. I just want to see cute girls have a nice romance not having a horrible time and fetish stuff 😭 obviously conflict is fine but I don’t want the conflict to play into the male gaze if that makes sense
Hi - sorry to but in on your comment (I was actually just writing something similar in a separate comment!) But I relate to your gl pain! Have you read She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat? I read volume 1 recently (volume 2 comes out this month), there's not much going on plot wise, but the first volume was wholesome and had quite a realistic feel to it. It also briefly touches on the 'male gaze' issue as it has a few moments where the girls call out that bullshit. It was just a sweet read, and the characters are adults with healthy, supportive interactions - so it may be worth checking out if you're looking for a new gl series! 😊 (Although, again, I can only really vouch for the first volume!)
@@llheji I haven’t yet but I have been eyeing it up so it’s good to get a solid recommendation :) The concept sounds super cute I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for it when I go shopping next week. I have read and reread most of the Doukyousei series ( except sora to hara, do not care for Hara sen). Why is Doukyuusei so good? I never get tired of reading it, this turned me into reading BL more and not avoid it. Have you read the webcomic version of futarigurashi, their married life? Only 4 chapters though🥲
RIGHT!? i also never get tired of the series and i've been following it for a very long time lol ,, and i haven't read past blanc, hoping the next instalments get translated into english soon!
@@tsukkinotes I am fairly new to doukyusei but I already read it so many times. It is one of the best love stories I have ever read, among all genre/demographic. They are relationship goals, their friends too. I hope the latest installment gets published in english too.
Why the last 4 chapters of Nana never put into tankobon volume I don’t get at all🫤 I did a complete reread of Nana after 10 years. Not a good idea, this series never leaves my mind for long and now I am consumed by it again.
I am from a country where the manga costs 13.99 Usd and shipping fees are 50 USD for both amazon and barnes and noble. This is too expensive for me so the only ones i can afford are the fake ones. I was wondering whether i should collect them or not... 🥲

yes and no,, in japan all of these volumes were released separate of one another (not numbered like volumes 1-6), i have no idea why they did this in the english release tbh but that means technically everything is standalone. in english volume 4 is more like a spin off about a character in volumes 1-3 and volume 5 is a short story collection that features chapters about all characters in the doukyuusei “universe” so to say. volume 5 has some content revolving the couple from volume 4 but i have it pretty much just for the chapters about the couple from 1-3 (sorry if this is confusing) 😭 volume 6 is like the sequel of 1-3 about more of their adult life so i would say 4 is worth the read if you want the FULL picture but not necessary especially since it explores triggering themes
Can you read Japanese? There’s this manga that I absolutely love called Tougen Anki and the manga isn’t out in English but I found a few volumes on EBay in Japanese and I’m thinking about getting them even though I can’t read Japanese.
i can't, but i do like to buy manga in japanese to support artists i like! so i would say go for it
Pandora Hearts is my favorite manga, I highly recommend it if you want to suffer LOL
OOF, i will get to it this year i promise
Great collection! For anyone who likes BL I highly recomend Old-Fashioned Cupcake by Sagan Sagan.
thank you! and thanks for the recommendation
i loved old fashioned cupcake so much, i got old fashioned cupcake with cappuccino so fast after it came out it was awesome.
I never understood the 18+ rating on My Dress-Up Darling there is just a small portion of nudity in it and that's it then there are other manga with gore and other adult themes that are 15+ to 16+ like Battle Angel Alita for example
for the record I love both Alita/Gunnm and My Dress-Up Darling
ya i think square enix is really cautious with their age ratings for some reason, one of the other series they publish (cherry magic) also has the explicit tag when all the main characters have done is kiss, literally nothing else

It’s funny too because my girlfriend is in the process of learning to cook for me so it might be extra relatable 😂
yes ug there are a couple oop series i am trying to collect but sooo slowly since im way too lazy to properly hunt and constantly keep tabs on volume prices. hopefully i can do a gl rec video soon! that would require me to also ... find enough series i like and would feel good about recommending lol
😎😎
First
heyyyy
Not a good idea, this series never leaves my mind for long and now I am consumed by it again.
i'm scared to finally get into the manga soon but i think the pain will be worth it TT
@@tsukkinotes it is worth it 🥰 I find new points to think about still to this day.
I am from a country where the manga costs 13.99 Usd and shipping fees are 50 USD for both amazon and barnes and noble. This is too expensive for me so the only ones i can afford are the fake ones. I was wondering whether i should collect them or not... 🥲
personally i wouldn't buy fake manga 😅 there are many affordable options to read manga digitally though!
