  • Get a personal tour of Bell Gardens by Mr. Bell founder of Taco Bell restaurant. He also helped a former employee start Del Taco. Today Bell Gardens is both a working farm and a demonstration farm - open for tours. About 300 school kids come each day to pick strawberries, and ride the 1/4 scale train.

Amazing to see founders of Taco Bell, Baker Burger, Del Taco, and Stater Brother all together and shared their stories with Huell.
Web site search shows Bell Gardens farm permanently closed around 2003.
Could KCET kindly includes the year of each Huell’s episode.
“Californian Gold” series is now documentary which recorded histories, people, places, stories etc.
    Truly appreciated!!

We met Glen Bell at the Del Mar at the 4H and FFA cattle auction
Mr. Bell was a big supporter of the kids in 4H and FFA

It's Bell Gardens Farm. I thought it somehow went from Escondido to Bell Gardens (Los Angeles county) as well.

That sure don't look like the place I grew up in. No graffiti, no king kobras or Playboy gangs...

I live about 1/2 mile from the Bell Garden's site. Most everything is still there and the site continues to be taken care of. Currently.....they're growing 4 acres of plump pumpkins just off Cole Grade Road. Every time I drive by I keep expecting to see an "Open for Business" sign on the front gate. You just never know.

I miss Del Taco so bad. They invented the "Big Gulp" drink before it was called Big Gulp. Wonderful Story
