I served in the Met at Hampstead from 1961 to 1973. Hampstead had a stable responsible for a number of horses, and also took Queens Elizabeth’s horse for a run on the Heath just prior to each Trooping the Colour. I thought then, and still do so, that the Mounted Section was, is, and will always be, an absolute waste of money and resources. They al about completely unable to perform a police function because they have to consider….’what can I do with my horse?’ They can patrol the streets, but once they see a crime, how are they possibly deal with the offenders. The answer is that they can’t because of the horse. The Mounted Section is just another section where they can be highly paid and yet work in their ‘cushy’ job and do virtually nothing. Well yes, slop out a few stalls. Their main problem is policing on the street. They are paid as police, but don’t police. The very least these officers can do is see a crime and call someone else up to make an arrest. They can’t go chasing criminals and lawbreakers over fences etc. The Mounted Section has done much over the years to paint themselves as a very romantic arm of the police force.

Day in the life of police officer, oh please. They are corrupt, unfeeling, uncaring , bullies and let’s not forget they probably end up in prison at some point.

Just because some are corrupt and don’t do their job properly should not cover the majority of hard working officers.

@@IslamicEdits777 The amount of times one officer is made a scapegoat or found guilty of misconduct. But weren't the ones reporting those cops and should have been, as they travel in pacts and nothing happens until independent video surfaces
