“Sometimes it looks like Salah isn’t in a game, and then he goes and does something brilliant.” That’s the way people used to describe Messi. Even when Mo isn’t “impacting” the game, he’s impacting the game.
When Josh said he thinks someone needs to put an arm around Nunez, I too think they should and say listen lad your a professional footballer, playing up front, you need to go away and learn the offside rule.
Gotta disagree I think over the years Salahs final ball has always been hit or miss , his option decision making is boss but his execution has always been a bit off especially vs low blocks with those scruffy right foot not beating the defender slide rules
I think they are focused more on their defensive structure which is great to see considering how we always tend to concede a lot under jurgen. We know that we posses the firepower to blow teams away which will eventually come to fore.
Bolonga play man-marking almost all over the pitch. That coupled with the final ball being a bit off is why our xG was only 1.2. It also "feels" like we gave up more chances to them but xGA was only 0.6 so that's 2-3 decent chances and we know Ally made 2 big saves. The narratives around our defense reminds me of the 2018-2021 time period where we'd give up a lot of "chances" but most were offside because our trap was so good - and those are NOT CHANCES. My heads done in with all the narratives unsupported by data. Critically, one of the things I don't like is that, once we break the press and get into their half, often there's a high-risk flick around the corner or first-time pass that doesn't come off instead of just hanging onto it and more methodically progressing.
My only criticism of our season so far is the fact we still refuse to finish off a side while we are well ahead. We still want to give teams plentiful opportunity to score on us and do not look very defensively solid in the process. We are outscoring our opponent while they are failing to convert their opportunities which is different than us being so defensively resilient we aren't allowing them to score.
I think it’s a case of old habits die hard. Slot seems very aware and keen to correct it. Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later, although I think there were a couple of occasions that we’ve controlled quite well from leading positions.
Played well first half for a good chunk of it then seemed to forget how to string passes together again and got a bit lucky gave bologna some good chances. Subs seemed to change things back and was a deserved result
I just think it’s much easier to focus on the negatives in games because they are moments of high anxiety for fans. As the lad here says you don’t watch a game like a robot - that’s why the entire ground groans when a player makes a bad pass, because that is a genuine reaction. When the outcome of a game of footy dominates your mood you are going to get this kind of reaction.
Love the videos. Feel like the team was raw last year, taking manager and staff out of it...the players are all 12 months further along. There are literally no new guys (Cheese apart) so the shared awareness is further along, the individual experience is growing. I think that's a big part of the performances. The change of staff and manager is probably a hidden negative in the sense that it is new and while I think its going well I'd expect performances can improve alot as the squad learns and absorb the new messages. Either way I agree feels more sustainable and happy with the results. Long may it continue.
Disagree with Josh here. We would have won the league last year had our attackers performed on par with their xg and we weren’t so unlucky with injuries. We were top of the league with 5-6 games to go with a trophy already in the bag. To say this iteration of liverpool is better with only 10 games into this season is premature at best.
Lad there was 10 games left at least. We didn't lose the league because we were below xg, it's because we were injured too often and conceded goals too often. You can't be as open down the middle as Kim Kardashian and then say we didn't score enough goals, it was the lack of defence and control putting too much pressure on our goalscorers. The other thing I already inferred is that our tactics were atrocious. We were carried by Klopp's mere presence at the club.
@@nichobee Nunez cost us any chance of the league, it's worse than playing with 10 men, he takes the position someone who cost £85m should be bagging would have. Needs moving on and a goal scorer buying.
@@thelmaviaduct no he didn't. It was Liverpool's attack alone that got the team comfortably within the top 4. But when you concede a dozen clear cut chances per game, the pressure on your strike force to score goals becomes too much. Besides, many of the chances that we created were frantic split second moments to get a shot away. Notice how this season we are creating chances that give our players more time and space to pull the trigger.
We could have won the league, sure. But we never was because our football was unsustainable. We were needing last minute winners and fight backs from a goal down from pretty much the start of the season. No team has ever won a league going behind in more than half their games like we did.
@@nichobee the arsenal result where we should have had a penalty go our way for a handball. The Tottenham result which we all know shouldn’t have happened. Fairly sure there was a controversy in the city game too. Take those results and you could easily assign another 5-6 points whilst taking points away from nearest rivals. If jota stays fit. If Diaz and Nunez managed to keep their form in that run in there’s every chance we would have won the league. That whilst we already had a trophy won. To say that this liverpool team right now, is better, after not playing any of the top 6 and losing at home to Forrest. It’s actually laughable Josh.
One thing people don't always notice with Nunez is he makes the runs at the right time the problem is two fold a) he does need to bend his runs and b) the ball just doesn't come quickly enough.
Agree this offside was totally on the passer. Delayed it. How come we know how to pass Salah blindfolded but are still surprised nunez will make a run. I watched all three games and he makes the perfect run but isnt put through.
Salahs passing has been absolutely appalling for several recent games. The fact he scores a goal (or a penalty) doesn't absolve him from the serious question whether he really should be in the team. Maybe if a different player playing instead of Salah he would score the goal salah did in any case. There seems to be a flawed presumption that when Salah scores no one in place of him could possible have scored. We need to think very carefully about giving him an overly generous new contract.
@@MrLewbaah indeed. He certainly used to be world class. I’m not so sure he is any more sadly. I think we are in a similar situation Manure were with CR7 when he returned. He was still knocking goals in for United but he was still a shadow of his former self. At least ETH had the balls to get rid.
@@themanofmead5273 maybe they should put you in the team instead seeing as you know it all and apparently goals and assists are so easy to replace by anyone else playing in that position. Clueless.
35-37 minutes really sums up the state of this channel's analysis nowadays. God know what the first comments were trying to portray, then someone chimes in with 'Last season's team' versus 'this season's team'. Is it not the same team with a few more months' maturity at all? No? Where did we get this new team from, then?
Little shocked about all this talk of not rotating over the last few weeeks and saying that it’s off compared to klopp… until maybe a year or two ago… outside of leauge and fa cups Klopp also didn’t rotate… he would run out his best 11 all the time… injuries withstanding
I go on about shots all the time. Its been a massive problem for years. Bologna had more shots than us. the problem with Salah is that the tragic events in the ME are weighing on him psychologically. And being an icon in the region and being forced to shut up about it is eating his soul. It's unbelievable that he's performing at this level considering all that.

Nunez proving last night that he can't be trusted if we lose jota to injury. Absolutely ridiculous how at his age he can't stay onside or keep his composure when a chance comes. We'll lose money on him but get rid he's not getting any better
Harsh. Nunez had one through ball into his path all night and scored, but he was slightly offside. That was the only bit of service he had in 94 minutes. It’s all good and well blaming Nunez for everything, but teammates deserve blame as well because they are not finding him in the right areas. It’s becoming a hateful agenda at this point. I agree with you overall point but Trent should’ve released him sooner in that offside goal he scored.
