I miss the old, "send Rudy cards to see if they are fake" videos. It was very interesting and got me to learn new things. Keep it up, Rudy!
That’s how I found the channel when I got back into the game
Damn straight brother@@jacobsjordanphd9133
Yeah, this seems like a blast from the past type video. Old school Rudy at his best.
these are the types of videos i think i originally got interested in your channel for, that and the box openings. i do like the longer form market discussion stuff, but this is my favorite
I'm having so much 2017ish nostalgia right now
I appreciate you showing the difference between the real cards and the fakes. Thank you for the video Rudy.
Rudy thank you for being the realest mtg RUclipsr on the internet
Remember that time Rudy got fakes that were so good he almost couldn't tell?
I'd love to see that, do you know which video it was?
@@ALifeOfWine it was some years back, I wanna say 2017-2018
Love the box of damaged collectors edition. "No one cares about this box".....Wish I had a few in the box 😂
Just a casual playset of of CE or ICE lotuses
Love these types of vids
it's so fascinating to see all the diffrent types of ways people come up with to fake cards!
I love these types of videos!
Thanks for posting this one! Learned a lot
So amazing! Thanks Rudy! Godtaco!
Thank you for always sharing these kinds of things Rudy, you are truly helpful when it comes to anything MTG.
Fake card videos is why I fell in love with you.

Rudy "C.S.I. - MTG edition"
LOVE the tips for spotting fakes!
God Bless you ALL!
Great video! I was there back in the day when, as teenagers, in the mid 90's, we would slice collectors edition cards in half and try to make fakes for fun. They always ended up in disaster cards that were obviously fake. but for rambunctious teens it was fun.
On point video, thanks!
Solid piece. As always, have comparable items from the same set (e.g. commons) and learn what to look for. Centering issues are the hardest unless you have a large collection, though. But color, feel, thickness are usually the same across a set, at least the old ones that weren't printed at ten different facilities.
Never ran across a good re-back. Usually weight or feal is a huge indicator. Good to spread the word about registration differences as well.
Day 7 of asking rudy to get a low taper fade
It's coming, I have faith.
Why ?
This week flew by damn
@ For the memes.
Rudy would look 10/10 in a low taper fade fr fr
Had a lot of issues with tcg. Most common one is ordering a foil version of a card and they ship a non foil version. Pretty much only happens with $5+ difference between foil and non foil version. My guess is it’s intentional, hoping I won’t notice, but it happens way too often for it to be considered a simple mistake.
How could anyone not notice that? Foil vs. non-foil has to be the most obvious difference.
@ idk. I order a lot of cards so the only thing I can think of is that they hope I lose track because of the volume. I’ve been keeping track since the first time I noticed and it happens pretty often.
I had the same exact issue with TCG and they were very offended when I accused them of this. I bought a foil card and received non foil, I messaged the seller and they said they don't have a foil version to replace so they said if I mailed the card back they would replace it. How did they not have a foil version if they had the card listed as foil on TCG the entire time? They were clearly acting with malicious intentions of hoping I wouldn't notice the difference.
@@thomasalvarez2089 exactly.
I've had this happen as well.
I g this is so disheartening, thank you for making a video on this
I just come here for the, “folks.”
Thank you 😊 🙏
Sad part is Rudy probably had more in value on those CE lotuses than most people do in their entire collection.
Good work Sir!
I spotted the fake Rudy!, thanks to these kind of videos you the man
You know tcgplayer won't ever say anything about this kind (unfortunately common - especially the more valuable the card) of thing course. MTG, Pokemon, and I've seen it happen in newer games like One Piece, too. Thanks for the coverage, Rudy.
I had a seller not ship my cards, checked feedback and it's just pages and pages of people saying they never got their cards. The sellers store is still up today despite me trying to get it shut down for weeks now.
Finally another fake card video. Thanks Rudy those are among the most interesting ones.
Owned. That's what you get for buying this type of thing as an "investment".
the fact Rudy made it through the whole video without making a fallopian tubes joke
Do all re-glued fakes have the roller marks, or just a few bad ones?
I feel like this is a pretty safe way to tell fakes, but I am not sure whether it is reliable enough. Hard to see a difference on the number or the name, might as well be a quality difference in print.
damn I remember videos like this, splendid
Rebacks always fail the light test. It's a quick simple check that's infallible.
I honestly don't care if people who invest in cardboard get scammed.
This dude single handedly is shutting down old school play collecting up all these old cards. So much is out of circulation now😢😢😢😢
Messed up aye. 😅
selling rebacked cards through the mail is about the only way to get away with that. they never "feel" quite right.
LOL he switched seller's real card at 4:14 with a fake one, that he'll send back to the seller. Classic Rudy.
Hey Rudy! I recently bought from TCG player and they sold me a fake 1999 arena promo plains. I messaged them and they said they would send me a new one to replace the fake. Only to send me another fake 1999 promo plains. Def not buying from tcg player any time soon again.
This is just sad. Rudy cast sleight of hand and proved the singles market is completely untrustworthy and the institutions that facilitate them are untrustworthy. Great Job, Rudy.
I would have never known.
I wouldve been sus about it but not kno 4 sure its funny ive got newer cards that have backs look like that but y wud some1 do that 2 newer way less value cards idk ive got a scale and a light to compare stuff but still u nvr kno cud be water damaged or whatever else
I mean that back is so obvious though
The return of rudys tool
surprised that nobody in the history of that cards provenance nobody did a light test!
Freakin god book. It’s like something the Emperor of mankind would have!
Selling a beta without showing a pic of the back is a little sus..
they try to pass that off as water damage
I wish the camera was close enough to actually test my knowledge. I couldn't zoom in enough to check without the quality degrading. Not the camera's fault just the zoom wasn't in the right plact to really check.
I can’t recall the last time Rudy talked about Beckett so I’m curious to know why he threw shade at them at the end
Maybe that its owner committed insurance fraud? They've been falling off fast
What's the deal with Beckett? I thought they were the preferred grading service for the MTG market? Or is that now PCG?😉
What about clipped beta to fake alpha? I know the alpha flip is one tell but what if it's a very beat up card? Especially if it's a common or uncommon. How do you verify it's not clipped beta?
NGL if I held the card in my hands I could tell if it was faked like it was, but from the camera resolution it was pretty darn hard to see where you put it. I tried for a good solid 2 mins trying to see.
That would be a PCG 11/10
Why didn’t you do a light test? Or a weight test? If it is a re-back, wouldn’t it instantly and obviously fail both of those tests?
Not to negate everything else you demonstrated, but it feels a bit odd to leave those tests out, when they would be perfect for this situation.
I’ve had problem after problem with TCG … breeding pool for proxies… even tcg direct is wratched … so sad ppl do this. I’ve only had a few problems with card kingdom.
Casually pulling out a box of tampered/damaged cards probably still worth 10k
Anyone else go to Target lately and see empty shelves of Pokemon only to reminisce back on Rudy’s Pokemon bathroom? Those were the days!
Average Person cannot differentiate Tacos from Burritos
How many '93 collectors edition sets do u have? Should have a sale for us commoners so we can identify the pasta-press action for our safety. 1 set per customer, make it happen!
Is cgc gonna cover those fake pokemon prototypes?
Booby Trap from Tempest would've never been shipping fake cards. 11k views 7 hours ago.
Enjoy these
I wonder what the card weight was?
Only buy Unlimited. No Collector's Edition bamboozling there.
Rebacked cards fail the light test, too. It's always the first step in checking for fakes, because the vast majority of fakes are printed on black-core German card stock.
what is the light test?
what, you check the fake after you buy it? what good is a test for authenticity for a product that gets shipped to you? you think a scam artist is going to refund you?
@@thomasalvarez2089 Flashlights won't shine through fake cards.
@@haltungsprechen I pay by credit card and start a dispute. Other than that, I buy cards in person from LGSs.
The film like card back is a dead give away on these. You can feel the fakes dont slide right
"Stop the presses"
Even though it's fake it kinda does hold the same value as nobody would know if you were to legally play this. Therefore makes no difference? And CE are limited, expensive anyway. And they would only increase by this action making them worth more not less.
"the centering of the card is wrong".... to be fair, the centering is wrong on many original guides as well.
the fact that a close friend of the family doesnt buy from rudy speaks volumes XD
yeah if you believe a seller in 2025 has a beta card and didn't put a jewel loupe to it then I've got a bridge in san francisco for sale
Imagine selling a card to a Rudy A. Vestments on TCGplayer
Just do the T test. I’ve never seen it fail.
100 percent of timmy’s like me wouldn’t know and be happy with it. So I don’t know what wizards does about these fake cards
Too bad we can’t buy beta and alpha from Rudy……. 🧐
I'm nervous to buy anything that isn't sealed product these days. Even that isn't really safe. I bought a sealed Pokemon booster box about a month ago that was counterfeit. The thing looked completely real until I broke the wrap and looked inside. The packs were obvious fakes. This hobby sucks anymore.
"Timmy❣"
That is 100% being sold again to someone else. Don't invest in fake cardboard :)))
Open your sealed stuff. Its probably fake Wyvern repacks
That is not the “real” Rudy’s tool.
Its a Master Beta edition
Rudyard, i love your videos as always. I recently bought a few beta basic lands from tcg player and tbh, i don't care if they're real or fake. love the art. love the vids. keep 'em coming.
lol anyway yeah a lot of guys dont know
I literally could not tell the shade of brown are different or the font is different even when looking at the cards side by side
It is on camera it is a lot harder to tell...
I thought MP stands for micro pen.. never mind
!I am at the beginning of my "investment journey", planning to put 385K into dividend stocks so that I will be making up to 30% annually in dividend returns. any good stock recommendation on great performing stocks or Crypto will be appreciated...
As a newbie investor, it’s essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. Ruth Ann Tsakonas is my trade analyst, she has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessments, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns.
I managed to grow a nest egg of around 120k to over a Million. I'm especially grateful to Adviser Ruth Ann Tsakonas, for her expertise and exposure to different areas of the market.
I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than $200k passively by just investing through an advisor, and I don't have to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my finances remain secure. So I really don't blame people who panic.
Without a doubt! Ruth Ann Tsakonas is a trader who goes above and beyond. she has an exceptional skill for analysing market movements and spotting profitable opportunities. Her strategies are meticulously crafted on thorough research and years of practical experience.
how would you recommend i enter the crypto market? I am also looking at studying some traders and copying their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally. What's your take on this approach?? and How can i reach her, if you don't mind me asking?
10:19 OR just don't buy these cards at these expensive prices!
Or have money simple as
@@pogonagecko Even if you have money you don't like buying crap
Who cares if it’s fake? MTG cards are stupid broken anyway. The game has been ruined by the cards.
I have a fake taco to sell.
Tcgplayer Seller ships Fake Tacos
oh no fake vintage cards.. i never heard of that. Cant wait for all that beta and unlimited starter decks and booster to be open after a 20k purchase on livestream and they are all repacked.
Can I see ur high school car we didn’t forget
❤
Nooooooo
Of all the people to ship fake cards to they picked this guy 😂. That’s extremely bad luck. 😂
I was thinking the same thing hahaa
Maybe I'll actually marry Rudy's mom so I can become a "friend of the family"
Top right
🥃
jesus rudy wash your tool lol
My step sister vouched though!!!
Day 40 of asking Rudy for a job.
Spotted it on the binder sheet almost immediately
❤❤❤what I love about fakes is the easiness in spotting them.
Folks!
ouch
I don't understand here. How could the seller not know? Don't sellers check/grade their product before purchasing it? Wouldn't doing that tell them if the card is fake? A seller would have to be extremely ignorant in this day and age to not know they have an altered or fake card I would imagine.
