      Not true.
      Imported coal actually costs more.
      What created the difference was the taxes charged in the UK which always added up to 70% increase compared with the subsidised polish and South Africa coal.
      Also, the compensation to the ex 'nationalised' coal mine owners terminated at the same time that thatcher closed the mines.
      Fact is stranger than the fiction from the newspaper
