I think going for really early (As in prior to scouts even) settlers might have been the play here. The 1 tile islands are unironically incredible earlygame production centers, a city starting out with +12 food and production can hold its own without much need for improvements. While settler cost specifically would spiral up quite quickly, you could probably get up to 7 or 8 or possibly even more cities in the ancient era if you went all in on it, which would be something to behold.
it's going to be hard to have that many unless you have a really huge map, they do need six paces free around them... but just 3-4 early game would be amazing.

I love playing Kupe! Hello early bears! I am sometimes amazed at the Ursa luck. If I had developed sea resources, within 3-5 turns, barb galleys would be pillaging them. Fishing boats are a magnet for barb galleys. I would never get that many turns without galleys.

I wanted so badly to go to the Ōtautahi one with my sister but I have long covid and I've been struggling the last couple weeks. The pictures I've seen are amazing, especially from Pōneke because it's easy to compare to the stupid anti-vax protests that were in the same place and much smaller.

12:27 this is the sole reason i tend to dislike districts and how tiles work in civ 6. Its such a fun idea having some island city with insane yields but with no tiles to put down districts it takes away the magic of an otherwise lovely idylic island city. civ 7 better have some reworked perspective on how tiles should work :(

Anybody else feel like civ 6 sucks for late game war? The ai when it comes to civ 6 produces hardly any units compared to civ 5, especially air units. Hope they get rid of armys/ armada stuff in civ 7 just because I feel like it messes up how the ai builds units and manages them
It's basically cause you play so quickly you either don't notice things or forget things. But I'm still watching your videos! Love some of the mods you play. Makes civilization 6 so much fun.
