I will go as far to say that the BluGuitar Amp 1 Mercury Edition is the best Marshall type amp you can buy under 1000 euros. I've been super happy with mine.

Apart from the politeness and the metallic squealing sound in the top end the lack of sustain if that's the sound you're after can compete with anything at any price

    • @TheMemagNeman
      @TheMemagNeman 3 года назад +7

@@LIHPIT I have literally watched dozen of videos of AMP1 Mercury and didn't notice anything you claim. You might have wrong guitar or amp setup. The amp is able to 1-1 old Marshals and some Fender amps. There are shitty examples of this amp as well, but the ones that are good are golden. I am not sure how people manage to make this amp sound like crap, while others literally plug in and it's blazing.

I live in NYC and I own one of these. It's not "my ultimate holy grail tone," but rather an extremely convenient tool that sounds WAY more than "good enough" for 99% of my live playing around the city (which doesn't require "my ultimate holy grail tone.") It fits on my small-rig pedalboard which makes it very easy to tote around on a subway, so wherever I go to play, I know I can get a good, workable sound. It actually has a GREAT, warm, clean channel for if/when you need it, so you can play lots of different musical styles with it -- not just heavy rock and metal. It is a VERY versatile sounding amp that covers a lot of ground, in a compact size which is very important when living in a big city where people have small living spaces and don't own cars to haul their gear around.
I only wish Thomas Blug would make a 7/15 watt version, because 100w is still too much for most playing applications.

Nothing bad to say about the tones on this one, both DI and into the cab. I've always been impressed at the fidelity of the sounds from the BluG stuff. They aren't trying to do every trick in the book, but the sounds they do are very faithful to a full-sized amp. Seems like a touring musician could do a lot worse, especially if they were having to play on a lot of silent/quiet stages. If you didn't want to go all the way down the Kemper path, this would give you some of those advantages (while still working like a piece of normal gear).

I see it reasonably priced compared to other 100 watt amps in the market, given all the features, but yes, probably it could cost much less to make. Not sure about $50 though. I feel this way about handwired fender reissues. They are such an old design, that it should cost less to make, and it does, since you can get handwired mojotone or ceriatone replicas for far less and their quality is excellent as well.

May I suggest strategic closeups of your fretting hand during your demos? You have some dirty little tricks that would make the world a better place if shared.

Great sounding box, and Tomas is one of the best strat players around. He is also really humble, and a super nice guy. Also, your playing is spot on. He had the best tone of all the artists at this years Larvik Guitar festival using the Blug.
Johan, you need to do a video where you play through a tube radio. I use an old Radionette with a OCD in front, and it sounds just as good as my "real" amps. ruclips.net/video/7vxyr1WaH0I/видео.html here is a short video to show what it sounds like, but I know it would sound a thousand times better if you did it.

      Thanks, glad you like it!
Well he declares himself one of best guitarists in the world first thing on his web site, so that kind of stretches my definition of humble. He’s certainly a killer electrical engineer, that’s for sure.
You got a great tone out of that tube radio man! I’m gonna try that too! Cheers

@@JohanSegeborn Yeah, the declaring himself as one of the best guitarists out there is kind of a weird move. I guess it's just a marketing thing. However, he took the time to hang out with visitors, and shoved genuine interest in all the people he talked to. He took the time to talk to anybody who wanted to talk to him, beginners and pros alike. Can't wait to hear what you can do with a radio.

Sounds good Joh! (But then you make EVERYTHING sound good! Would LIKE to hear you FART like a Plexi!) ;oP
It certainly DOES the business! Would have liked to have heard the clean sound on it. The impulses were ok, they work, however they lack any depth! When you played it thru real speakers it sounded a LOT better. More nuance, and depth! (Thanks to stereo room miking as well!)
    Cheers! \m/

This little bastard is actually not too bad. So, does this dude take the place of the actual amp head?

Trippy birds. I’m staying away from this amp - done with modeling. Need tubes at some point in the chain.

AMP1 is all analog - no modeling! And besides some discrete analog circuits it also uses a Nanotube. Therefore it sounds and feels like a tube amp. Just give it a try...;-)

Watched many videos of this item this is one of the best might be wrong because I've only listen to on RUclips but if you think this is a great amp you are you are delusional and I wanted it to be a great amp as it looks pretty convenient
