The only way Luke could think of to apologize for what happened with his parents is through his song. That’s the saddest thing about life: you never know how much you love your family until it’s too late. Then you’ll never get the chance to say I’m sorry.

Poor Luke. He never got to mend his relationship with his parents. Let this be a lesson to parents out there. You never know how precious your children are, until you lose them. This song really made me cry my eyes out. If only Luke's parents could have heard his voice singing it after all those years.
Lesson to children, as well. Parents die unexpectedly, as well. Most children are incredibly naive-- they believe their parents are always going to be there, even when they treat the paranets like garbage. Love and value should be reciprocal.
I think they might have heard him singing it because without Julie people can hear but not see them but they might need their instruments to be heard because Luke said his guitar is attached to his soul

2 facts, which will make Unsaid Emily even more heartbreaking.
1. People can see the boys, when they're playing with Julie. But without her, people can hear their music too. So basically... When Luke's parents read the song, they must have heard him in their minds singing this along.
2. When the boys eat the hotdogs, there is a ,,person missing" poster behind them. With Luke's face on it!
Also, next to the missing person poster, there's a poster that says "unfinished business" Like- wow
When the boys were eating hot dogs the reason why it said Person Missing was because Luke left his family and they were looking for him

This is one of my favorite songs from the show. It's so pure and sad. And the flashbacks made the scene even better. Seeing how luke and his family handled him leaving broke my heart. I'm happy he got to tell his family how he truly felt

I've only had a bad relationship because they are abusive and neglective so this song would really hit different if they were singing it to me
you know when unsaid emily first played in the show I was half expecting for Julie to play music so his parents could see luke in 25 years. I was just breaking when she didn't and I kept screaming "HE WAS RIGHT THERE JULIE ALL YOU NEEDED TO DO WAS GRAB A MICROPHONE!" I know luke didn't want to be more hurt just standing there, but I just really wanted a heartfelt reunion for that broken family's heart to be mended. I remember just these few lines from UNSAID EMILY THAT JUST BROKE MY HEART.

To lose a child must be the worst thing, I can not even imagine. His poor parents on the show broke my heart and to think many are forced to experience that every day in the real world makes me scared to have children of my own someday. I've never cried so hard watching a feel-good show...
my aunt lost her daughter 5 years ago, my cousin valentina. it was such a bad time for all of us. even my dad. her first word was “beard” in spanish because she was looking at my dads beard. she was one of a kind. i’ll never forget her.

You never want to end a conversation like that trust me. I had an argument like Luke's ten years ago with my parents. I ran away from home when I was 15. I regret leaving like that everyday since then. I went to a friend's house to stay at. My parents put up missing signs all over town. It was summer so I just stayed inside in case anyone saw me and wanted to tell my parents. A month after I ran away my parents had left the house to look for me for the billionth time and a drunk driver driving a truck hit them and my parents car was smashed and upside down. When the police found them they were ice cold dead and had already finished bleeding out. The drunk driver had not been hurt badly and left his truck there to run away from the scene. They found him later and he was arrested. The police only could get a rosary that was my Mom's and a few missing posters with my face from the scene of the accident. It took them a month to find me after the accident. They has already buried my parents and had the funeral. They gave everything that was my parents to me since I was their only child. I was depressed for 3 years. I blamed myself for everything. I have finally accepted that I made a mistake and there was nothing I can do now to bring them back and apologize. But when I watched this part of the show it brought me to tears. It brought back all the pain, sadness, guilt, and confusion I has felt ten years ago. I loved this show and I truly related to Luke during this part.
I'm so sorry. I don't really have any words to say but that you for sharing and being vulnerable enough to tell your story. You may have helped some people in the future who are thinking of running away too.

This song truly touched me in a way not many do. It makes me incredibly emotional, I genuinely believe this piece is the best one on the soundtrack and should get more recognition. Charlie Gillespie’s voice was so beautiful and smooth with the melody, he deserves to receive more attention.

I watched the first 5 min of Julie and the Phantoms and I HATED it until my Best friend sat me down and made me watch it now I freaking LOVE it and when Luke sang this it made me cry so hard
The actors who play in the show are so incredibly talented with acting, and singing!

This song was heartbreaking to listen to and watch with how Luke felt after running away after their fight. I think what broke me the most was how Luke's parents cried after finding out what happened to him and cried more when Luke showed up. Also when the scenes went back to the present and they cried after reading the lyrics. I can't imagine how the parents must have felt after 25 years of losing their son they never got to see again, to hear his words after running away. It reminded me of when I lost a close friend of mine because it's just that many of us don't get to say goodbye to the people we love or the news comes all of a sudden. I was so distant from my group of friends (who included this close friend of mine) as the day got closer to when I found out she passed away. I so desperately wished I can "turn things back" and just say I love you. Gah it hurts so much. Everyone's grief is different and takes time. You will get through this.
Edit: this also reminded me of how my younger self used to think about running away and now that I look back on it, it was definitely silly but it was such a huge thought I had but I never thought about how my family would feel. To all of those who's going through these things: YOU are LOVED. YOU will find the place where YOU BELONG. If this family is really toxic however, you have the choice to. Just please take care of yourself and know there are people out here who will support you. The world is not all beautiful but there are any people who will be there for you.

I’ll never forgive Netflix for not giving us a second season
This shows brought me to tears and I started sobbing when he sang this and I saw him with tears in his eyes on his birthday and it broke me more when I saw three sons who families have lost because of food poisoning 😔
This show makes me cry so much. They died at 17 and didn't get to live their lives, this particular part of the show his parents can't see him. They got left on bad terms, all he wanted was to talk to his parents again but he couldn't. 😣😭😢
