@@FarpointFarms alright, still trying to figure some things out, so it can be ran as "Professional", as possible. (Whatever that means nowadays) lol But yeah, I'm pretty close to get enough courage to launch. Kinda helps more so that I am coming from a Mix show DJ approach
Shoutcaster myself. Since 2002. Ran an old NSV Shoutcast TV station for years too. To the consumer, get Winamp and you've already got a ton of free music and talk stations of about every genre at your fingertips. Excellent program. Still the best.
I've always wanted to play with the TV side of it, but never had the bandwidth. If you would be so kind as to describe how the setup is compared to the audio only side of things I think I'd like to give it a try!
@@FarpointFarms Here's a link to a resource page. It's dated but what you would need is still there. It's all beta. Total pain in comparison. One big difference is you don't use Winamp. You use a different streamer. The .nsv container is finicky and only certain formats can work. Takes alot of prep. Also SCv2 will not accept .nsv as a streaming format, but will work with SCv1. There's some more. kjtr.114@gmail.com if you want more. I've got some tip and tricks and a good streamer I can send you. www.scvi.net/
I’m just now getting to watch , these 60 hour weeks are time , hobby, anti family, RUclips killers . I’m lost as last years Easter egg but your content is always great . My wife says the glasses make you look smarter , so play that hand 👌. I see your newest video dropped just now , I’m headed that way .
I ran syncronet back from. 04 to 2010 unfortunately when we moved it went down and I never got it back up. Phantomrage Studios was the BBS. Rob definitely made a radio BBS software.
Interesting video. I never knew anything about running your own station. I really miss your live streams. I'm usually working around the home or at the shop working on my trucks in the evenings and I don't know about them until after they are over! I know time is a commodity this time of year, but I hope we can go back to having at least a day notice for the live streams. It's always a great group of people there and we have some good conversations. Hope to talk to you again soon.
@@FarpointFarms I have to figure out my notifications on my end. I'm only seeing the 30 minute notice of going live. I'll try to figure it out so I see the earlier notices. Thanks for all you do. You got me back into CB after 20+ years of being away. But I don't have a base unit and I've been rebuilding my truck for the past few months, so I've been radio silent. I'm looking forward to getting back on the air soon!
this was dope keep it up brother! i absolutely love how you were able to keep that old machine around as a dedicated appliance. thats what i do with old machines and sell them with kodi software for watching youtube and listening to online music etc. i bet you can even still play emulators like mame etc on something like that.
Love your Videos, we have a lot in common in how we enjoy our hobbies and I often learn something from your videos as well. I also operate a pirate radio station, hosting the feed myself using BroadWave Audio Server and Directore as the stations automation software. The one time cost was minimal in purchasing the BroadWave Streaming software, but it requires very little resources on the PC or Laptop. Takes all of about 3 mins to setup and your live streaming at no monthly cost. The Directore radio automation software is free for limited version or purchased via a donation to the individual that designed it. Directore mimics all the requirements and features of top radio stations, with automated Time announcement, Commercials, playlists, auto rotating playlists, scheduled playback of other media all programmable and even has Live features, like music fade, background music, emergency broadcast clips, Instant one key playback of any file and scheduling months or weeks ahead of time for messages and announcements, so your not tied to your station console to remove expired announcements. I love this Hobby I feel it provides a public service to my community as well. Been trying to catch your Shoutcast livestream, but no luck so far. Keep em Coming....
Go for it! It's a fun hobby that I tinker with at times. Then let it go on auto pilot for a while. That's the best part. Once it's up and running, you can leave it for ages, then when you get some time, update the jingles, and station id clips, add or remove music or shows, and such. Love it!
That Panasonic Toughbook was designed for military use, that's why its so durable ( and can withstand an EMP). I used to work for the Blind Center of Nevada who had the contract to recycle all the old PCs and laptops from Nellis Airforce base. We used to get truckloads of those things every few months.
Hey Eric I'm applying for a low power FM broadcast license when it opens in November id love to see more content on these topics . I'm admittedly in over my head . Oh I'm loving the McKinley 2 hope to catch you out there sometime
this. the reason I stick with Winamp is for the broadcast modules and playlist editing, even with a smol laptop on XP is what it allows. also, running this on a toughbook is based AF.
Install a capacitance hat on your transmitting antenna to increase range . I'm getting really good range with my stations far better than a couple of miles . I use capacitance hats on my antennas and elevated radials but they're not directly connected to the transmitter but do help in a major way.
@@FarpointFarms My signal reaches more than seven miles on a good car radio and around 2=4 on a portable . My station in the same mountain type of area as your station . I use Google Maps measure a distance and not car odometer .
I discovered Azuracast last year. Packages a lot of this software into an easy to use GUI. Have run my Art Bell station on a pi for more than a year. Can't recommend it enough.

Download a great free program called Syncterm. It's windows compatible and works great! You can also visit my EM-50 website and log onto it directly from there in a webpage app that allows it right from your web browser.

At least 3 miles I'd guess.
Cool setup

I've been working on something like that here along with moving the antenna to the top of a metal roof for a better ground plane.
