    I just wish the Concorde MkII series had cartridges in less flashy colors. I love how my S-120's just blends into the tonearm.

      @@FSwiftDJ i have had the 120's and they are terrible for tracking it has a stiffer contilever on them i dont know why they made it like that lol. and now i got the mk2 which is in this video brilliant needles

      @@shanefishley379 you’re comparing $60 needles to $150 needles.... the 120s are for trash and you get what you pay for.

    How do these sound? I heard that the “digital” version has a cleaner more balanced sound

    I have ortofon concords and I do scratch with them. they work great for me and I don't have the needle bouncing around. I haven't been scratching for too long but I've been spinning vinyl for a long time. I have always been fascinated with scratching and wanted to learn so after I got all my equipment set back up I've decided to finally give it a try. So glad I did it's allot of fun. So no complaints about these needles. however, my last pair were those ortofon qbert special editions. they were pretty much band new, barely touched and the stylus broke. I have no idea what happened I'm thinking maybe I accidentally did something and didn't realize who knows. I was mad though since they were pretty much new. I am still unsure tho about correct balance of tonearm for scratching. I messed around with the weights and dials until I got it where the needle doesn't bounce or skip, but I'd still like to know for sure.

      Sky Trance Girl those qberts are really picky with the weight you put on them. If you put any more than 3 grams, the stylus will sound like garbage, skip, and youll be wrecking your needles and vinyl.

    Try scratching with a Concorde MKII Club, Nightclub MK2 or Concorde Gold.
    Those have an elliptical stylus, so that'll give interesting results 👌

    Hey man, I'm looking for some advice or thoughts on the matter. At the moment I have the Ortofon Concorde Nightclub mk2 cartridges, but the needles need to be replaced now.
    I'm now doubting wether to buy new replacement nightclub mk2 styli (120$) or invest in the new Concorde mk2 cartridges (240$) (I'm thinking the scratch-version has good specs (Spherical stylus, nice high output and obviously solid tracking) and is getting pretty amazing reviews).
    My thoughts:
    I'm concerned about the wear on my records when using the special elliptic styli that comes with the nightclub mk2 (but I want atleast 8mV output, so its the only option on the old concorde series). I've read a lot about elliptical vs spherical styli and there's a lot of contradicting theories. Basically I use them both at home and in clubs for dj'ing oldschool techno and oldschool trance with a lot of detail (quite some old worn vinyls in between).
    I don't scratch but I do normal backcueing when mixing. Should I be worried about my records using the nightclub mk2's? Also the nightclub mk2's do reproduce quite some distortion on the high frequencies especially on the more worn out records, I'm thinking that would be less a concern with for example the Concorde MK2 scratch?
    Some advice or thoughts on the matter would be much appreciated (especially on the elliptical vs spherical in concerns of recordwear and audioquality)

    The best cartridges for dj'ing were the Shure M44G their sound quality was excellent and better than 90% of Ortofon, I know because I tested them out. Plus the Shure lasted absolutely forever, in the past 6 years i've had 3 M44G carts and stylus and still my latest ones bought a year ago aren't worn out yet. Ortofon wear out MUCH quicker I noticed and the Shure M44G are about the best for scratching you can or rather COULD buy. But Shure doesn't make the M44G carts or stylus anymore, i'm gutted because now I have to move back to Ortofon who I don't like much.

    it digs deeper into the groove , personally it's best on DVS, I wouldn't use it too much on real viny maybe scratch vinyl yes, sound is around 5-7% dB signal pickup then regular stylus concord stylus due to the stylus tip sphere, If you play real vinyl , what can happen over time is groove wear bit like old Dubplate (Acetate ) kind of like the nightclub DJ concords, which is why some second hand vinyl old records sound sh1t, because the DJ might of been resident in Ibiza or London club with Technics and Concord DJ nightclub stylus lol

      what do you think of mk2 mix for practicing mixing and a lot of back cueing ?

    • @FSwiftDJ
      @FSwiftDJ 5 лет назад +2

      @@stalkerlohh hi mate, I'm sure Johnathon can update on this , but I'll try answer that, in DVS mode yes it would be fine and maybe some scratch records with mk2 , so practising mixing be fine but a basic Ortofon Concord standard silver for mixing vinyl or DVS which is more balanced is fine also so there are cheaper options , plus it won't wear out real vinyl over time and has good sound pickup dB , don't forget with some Ortofon Concords you can swap styli tips mix and match them but if it's scratching then this is the stylus here you might require because it's designed that way with a sphere styli
      but with all stylus don't forget it's important to setup them correctly , weight has be perfect normally Ortofons need bit more weight, alignment also needs checking , some djs just put on a Ortofon stylus and think it's setup ( technically it's not) with a good setup you can achieve bit more dB signal pickup so check, read product instructions ( take a bit of time)

    • @FSwiftDJ
      @FSwiftDJ 5 лет назад

      Great point agree, some djs just stick a Ortofon on and think it's done, it's not with good setup, weight, alignment etc you can achieve bit more dB signal pickup , so your spot on mate

    Hey Ellaskins, quik question, im setting up my Ortofon Concorde Scratch needle, to my Audio-Technica AT-LP 140XP Turbtable, but the Ortofon Concorde Scratch needle says that its tracking force is supposed to be at 4 grams, even though my turntable goes up to like maybe 3.9 ???? So im lost rite now, technically, it goes up to like 3.5, but then has like four more little lines after 3.5, & thats maybe like 3.9 grams on the tonearm. So if the needle says it needs 4 grams, but my tonearm only reaches like 3.9, before getting to zero again, what do I do, where im a Skratch DJ, & will be repetitively skratching, thanks bud....... 👍👊💪🙏😎

    Hi, I want to buy a new cartrige. I play 80% of the vinyl but sometimes tested the 3style on DVS. I think about what's better choice if Orthofon Concorde Mk2 DJ, Scratch or Club.
