    Thanks a lot, sir. Our teachers always calculate the work but never mention work done by what. When my teacher did these same calculations, I was confused because I thought that the work was being done by the electric field. Now you've clarified it. Thanks again for that.
    But about the final logic, you showed that since U1 - U2 = (-PEcos(theta2)d(theta)) - (-PEcos(theta1)d(theta)), therefore, U1 = -PEcos(theta2) and U2 = -PEcos(theta1). But this is not universal. We can write 5 - 3 = 8 - 6, but that neither makes 5 = 8 nor 3 = 6. Wouldn't it be better to just say that by convention, we take the potential energy to be 0 at theta = 0?

    Sir, if external torque is equal to the original torque, then the dipole will never move.. So , with equal torques , no work can be found out.

    • @PHYSICSwithUmeshRajoria
      @PHYSICSwithUmeshRajoria  3 года назад +1

      External torque is slightly greater than the torque acting on the dipole and it is almost equal ...so that the dipole move without acceleration

    • @shubhamverma8573
      @shubhamverma8573 2 года назад

      From work energy theorem,
      W by all forces=∆k
      So we applied a torque almost equal to original torque (in magnitude) in such a way that no change in kinetic energy of dipole.so total work done is conserved in form of potential energy in the dipole.
      If ∆k ≠o then total work done is not stored in potential energy.
