I got a question concerning the outputs. I got a single s16 connected to my x32 compact and want to run my outputs through my s16 on stage as mixbusses 1-8 for monitors, and still use my local outputs on the console in addition. Great videos! I have an X32 Rack (main mixer FOH) and S16. I should have 32 IN/16 OUT. The IN/OUTs are split between the two. I began by setting up my personal IEM on the S16 along with two stereo keyboards and 1 mic for testing. 2 stereo keyboards in CH17-20 (AES50-A1-8) and 1 Mic CH6 (rack) all User routed to outputs 9-10 (S16) for P1 stereo IEM. I am only getting CH 17-18 (one keyboard) and nothing else. I will eventually have 10 IEMS to deal with and would like to accommodate personal mixes for all (as advertised by the product.) But I'm stuck, can you help?
Thanks for your helpful video. I'm having prob with Midas DL16 recently the phantom function just stopped working. I use top 7 channels for drum mics (phantom mics) and none of them is producing sound b/c the phantom issue. It works fine if I plug in the none-phantom mics. Updated firmware doesn't help. Wonder if you have experienced the issue and share the solution? Thanks so much!
Can this unit work as both mic inputs from drums, guitars, and vocals to include headphones for each musician and be sent to the Behringer Wing? Or would you need a different box for all headphones?

Hey. I love your content! I’ve been volunteered to be the sound guy at my church, and while my background is in music (I’m a drummer), I’m feeling a bit out of my depth with this sound setup. I’m trying to connect my Behringer X32 Producer with an S16, and I have both JBL speakers hooked up through the S16, but I can’t seem to get both speakers to work. Could you create a video or share some tips on getting this setup working? Any advice would be greatly appreciated-before I end up just banging on the drums to communicate with the congregation! Thanks!
Hey Drew. Great video. Thank you. Is there really that much of a sound difference between the Behringer pre-amps and the Midas ones? I know there is a paper difference, but is it noticeable to the ears? I have an X32 Compact and would like to add an addition 16 channels and trying to validate the additional spend.
Question: we are wanting to setup two distinct mixes, one for FOH and one for Broadcast/Recording. Can we plug all our stage vocals and instruments into the DL32 stage box and then send two separate outs over Ethernet A&B and then mix from there? Hopefully that makes sense!
Hey Drew, great video, just wondering if you're daisy chaining an s32 and dl16 do you have to have them in a certain order. Obviously want to take advantage of the better dl16 preamps and output for foh. Also does the preamp gain on the dl have to be done on the unit or can it be set via the Wing?
Doesn't matter the order, as long as you have the proper cable, and go from the port of the WING into the A port of the first box, then B port from the first box to the A port of the second box. For instance WING (A, B, or C Port) -> S32 (A Port) | S32 (B Port) -> DL16 (A Port) All of the gain would be able to be controlled from your WING. I would suggest making sure the firmware is updated on all of the devices as there have been some changes for the best support on the WING. Hope this helps!
Hey Drew! I have 2 S16s they are setup exactly like yours but the second is not syncing up. The X32 sees the first S16 but not the other What might I be doing wrong?
Crazy question….I am attending a small conference in November and I am running monitors and I am going to be running them off of an iPad right now. If I bring in another x32 could I plug into one of the stage boxes and run my workflow like that? I’ve been scratching my head trying to figure it out lol Thanks! Love your videos!
Hi Drew, thanks for your videos, always helpfull! Question, it seems not possible to listen to main L/R (7,8) on the S16, thus only to single inputs/outputs. Any reason for this limitation or is there a workaround?
HEy Drew Thanks for the Video. Just a question, my Wing will be at FOH and in the Stage i have DL32 and M32. I need actually 40 Channels on my Wing (at FOH). Since DL32 has only 32 inputs can i somehow use the M32 as a second stage box and connect rest 8 Channels? If yes How? Thanks a Lot for a quick explaination
A semi-related question for you, Drew. What about a kind of reverse scenario? What if I upgrade one of my X32s to a Midas M32 and use a combination of S16, SD16, or S32 stage boxes that I already own with the new Midas board? Is there a way to choose which channel preamp is used? If all channels are coming in from a Behringer stage box(es), is there a way to still have the better preamps in the M32 console used instead of the Behringer pre's in the stage box(es)?
So can I use one of these (or the S16) to ADD channels to my x32 rack? For example - the first 16 channels are "local" (with the racks outputs), then this adds another 16 ins and 8 outs I can have on stage.
Hi Drew, great video. I am having a new unit here and with firmware 2.7 applied to the unit, the gain will only be adjustable starting with -2.0 and the next step would be 0.5, then 3.0 and so on until + 45.5. In your video you were able to select a gain of 0.0 (which makes sense). What is wrong here?
Hi Drew, I have a Midas core and 4 x Dl16’s. I’m wanting to use the core on stage with 2 x Dl16’s for inputs on stage, stage monitors and run p16 stage monitor mixers and 2 x Dl16’s as a y split so front of house can have a signal of 16 of our input Chanels separately coming through the each of the 16 outputs. Most of the time front of house may not have an x32 or Midas hence needing the y split option. Is this possible? Thanks
That is possible. Use AES A for the 2 boxes you are using for inputs and your outputs to monitors. AES B to the stage boxes you want to use for FOH outputs. Assign AES B 1-16 as User Out 1-16. Then setup the 16 signals you want FOH to be able to get. BTW, the ADAT ports on the stage boxes allow for more outputs. You can plug in 2 convertors and have 32 outputs for FOH
How would you use this as or with a splitter? If I’m in a 4 piece band (guitar, bass, vocals & drummer) using the x32 rack as an IEM system would I be able to use the dl16 to gain the sonic benefit? How would I route that to FOH at different venues from our IEM Rack, would I still need a splitter or patch bay?
My initial idea is to just buy two art S8’s and run them into an art 16 patch bay to send a dry signal to the FOH mixer. Idk what would be better. I’m new to this and want to get it right and sounding as best as possible both on IEM & FOH.
Drew great videos! I have learned a lot from them, thanks! I also have a question: A new Behringer S32 stage-box was added to our audio, because our worship room got extended. My is question is that I noticed that the box is connected on both AES50 A and B ports on both ends, any idea why it was done that way ?
Hi Drew, thank you for sharing this tutorial (and your other tutorials). In the Behringer manual I read that the S16 has a "standalone" mode where you can connect an S16 to another S16 via AES50 (in a "master" and "slave" configuration). I was wondering if you know if an SD16 - instead of an S16 - can be connected to a "master" S16 as a "slave"?
I’ve been running to these behringers for the last six years as a 32 channel board and cannot seem to get rid of a random popping sync issue that comes up. I’ve replaced cables, try different power sources and still get the occasional sync drop out/pop. Would the Midas be more reliable???
Hey Drew I have watched many of videos and I love that you do this. especially because there is no else that is doing it for the behringerx32. I however need some help with my console. I recent just done an updaTE AND WENT TO THE 4.09 FIRMWARE UPDATE. after that on the AES50 port A it now says and flashes back and forth from n/n and X32C on the screen. with it doing that I cannot use port A on my board. Can you help me?
So I have an interesting issue with my S16. It stopped communicating via AES50 (would blink intermittent green). I contacted Behringer support after doing all the troubleshooting I could think of. Sent the unit in to repair and they replaced the AES50 chip. Now I have communication with the S16, however, it will not output audio. I have a second S16 that works perfectly fine. The repair shop said they were able to get audio from the output but I still am unable to. Is there anything on the S16 itself that would mute/kill audio going to the outputs?
I will echo how important using a *Shielded* cat5 cable is. A rental house delivered an X32 on a job I was doing last week. The board had a piece of tape over the AES-A port with a big “X”. I look at their provided Cat5 cable, and it’s just some unshielded cheap modem cable. Welp, that explains that! 🤡 Luckily I was able to find some shielded ethercon and use the B port.
@@DrewBrashler ch1’s motorized fader was broken too! So the manual position of that fader then applied to both layers (1&17) broke my brain until I realized what was happening 👎🏻👎🏻 We won’t be using that company again.
Hello! Thank a lot for your videos! Everything is crystal clear and absolutely transient to your listeners. I have a quick question. I want to rack mount a aes50_a connected dl16 to easy patch my 6 matrix fed outputs of my LR out on my m32r to the pa amps. Can I daisy chain a dl32 to that dl16 and rout all 32 inputs onstage + the p16 outputs from the dl32? Is it possible to daisy chain a dl16 and a dl32?
Thanks for this video, please can you explain more on how to use the Adat and how to connect it to x32 console using the Adat port. Because I uses two s16 stage box and one of it developed issue that made the A port on the first s16 to stop working, and the A port on my x32 too stopped working as well, so I had to connect the the second s16 using the B port. I'm thinking if the Adat out can connect to x32, it will help me greatly. I hope you understand.

Thanks Drew for your helpful videos. Is it possible to have two DL16 with a compact X32?
Hi Drew! Thank you for very helpful video. Is it possible to combine both S16 & Dl16 to increase inputs? Will it work? Presently, i have S16 setup to X32 compact.
Hey buddy, Thanks so so so much for your videos 🙏✝️ Would you be able to dive in to rta and how you use it day to day and for ringing a room? Or a video on using smart with a X32 if it is possible to use smart on a X32 in a live application. Cheers
Hey when I first got my x32 full , I was able to use aux out to play music from my iPhone . Now I don’t know what I did , but not getting anything now . And I was using irig for FB live and not getting anything , please help
So you can have 32 inputs by utilizing the X32 Compact and one DL16. Does that also double your outputs, utilizing the 8 on the X32 Compact and the 8 on the DL16?
Hi Drew. Thank you for this Video. We are about to install the S32 in our Church. My question is: Do I have to change the routing in each scene we have created so far or is there some kind of an overall functionality to change the routing in general? best regards from Germany. Marcus
Can i use my x32 connected to my s16 and only us it as my main L and R speaker but still use all my 32 channels and my 16 buses on my x32? Can i do that?
Hey Drew. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around outputs. I want my x32 compact outputs to remain the same but want to also send audio down to my stage boxes. This is accomplished using the Auxes you described?
Drew, when adjusting Gain or any setting at the S16, is that setting " Mirrored " at the X32 ? If so, can the changes be seen in real time at the X32 while being changed ?
It's not mirrored. Gain is adjusted to the preamp that is assigned to a channel. So if channel 1 was local, preamp 1 in the board would get adjusted. If channel 2 is stage box 1, then that would be adjusted. The console knows which preamps to adjust based on the channel routing and sources
Yes that is possible. Hold the config button on the front of the s16 and scroll to right once to turn on +8 led light. Out 1-8 will be the board. Out 9-16 will be the stage box. Makes sure that AES A 9-16 is set to Out 9-16.
Hi Drew! Thanx for all your efforts to make our life easier. Can you talk about DL251 and DL153 with X32/Compact? How many DL153 units can be daisy chained with X32?
Wish you had been able to spend a little time on synching. I have a DL32 that won't currently synch with the X32. I know there are settings that could affect this, but those settings weren't discussed in your video.
Hey Drew, great video! I am having an issue, hopefully you can help. I want to use my stagebox for all “8” monitor mixes but use my local xlr outs for the main outs, ex”out6=sub, out 7&8=main L&R”. I cant seem to figure it out. I am using a Midas M32R Live. Please help!
Set up your Out 9-16 to be your 8 monitor mixes, and then have your stage box with the +8 setup that I explain in this video! You will then have your PA and everything out of your M32R's 8 outputs, and then your 8 monitor mixes out of the stage box.
The thing that I for some reason cannot wrap my head around is outputting to stage boxes. I run a Compact, we use local 1-8 inputs then have a SD-16 and an SD-8 for an additional 24 inputs. But I cannot get the outputs to respond. We have our main out to our PA as local, so I can't figure out how to get the rest of the outputs to go to the stage boxes
See I would have thought that you use the AES50 A from the M32 for the first DL16 and the AES50 B for the second DL16. Which begs the question "WHat happens if it is set up that way?"
It doesn't seem like the gains of the stage box can be controlled from the console or remotely. If so, it's a deal killer for the gigs I do. Small stages with limited access, or larger stages where there is little time between multiple bands teardown/setup.
My understanding is that when you have the S16 connected to an X32 any MIDI information in and out of the MIDI ports is connecting to the mixer. You are also able to control +48v and gain settings via MIDI if the S16 is not connected to a mixer.
When using 2 s16 or 2 dl16 with a x32 and you are using all 32 inputs from the stage boxes which unit has 1-16 and which unit has 17-32 input channels. I know about how to select outputs but how to select inputs?
First stage box will be AES 1-16 in. Second stage box will be AES 17-32. The hookup is A port of x32 to A port of S16 1, B port of S16 1 to A port of S16 2. Also on s16 2 press and hold config and scroll knob to the right once to turn the +8 led. That will make the outputs AES 9-16 for the second box
Thanks so much for the informative content as always. We've just got the x32 compact and the s16 snake. I want to route the outputs such that we can use 6, 7 and 8 on the compact as L, R and M. That way I can save all 8 outputs on the snake for monitors. How do I go about routing this? I already have inputs 1-16 routed from S16 and 17-32 on the Compact
You would want to use X32 outputs 9-16 as your 8 outputs that you are hoping for and then place your S16 into the (9-16) +8 mode that I talk about in this video. You would have outputs 1-8 locally on the X32 compact, and then 9-16 showing up on the S16. Hope this helps!
Drew I have a full x32 and then we use a x32 rack as a stage box. I cannot route the ultranet from the foh x32 to the x32 rack backstage. Can ultranet be ran from the x32 rack instead of foh?
Btw I did set it on aes50a like you showed in this video but ultranet only works on the foh x32 still. My other routing works. Just not ultranet. Maybe only s16s and dl16s can do ultranet routing?
Yeah I think you are going to have to use a stage box to get that ultranet routing working from the FOH console like you are trying. The SD8, SD16, S16, or DL16 would work perfectly, just an added cost unfortunately. If you had an ethernet snake with multiple ethernet lines, you could use one for the AES50 and then another line for the Ultranet. Then plug that into a P16-D to get out to the other P16's. I hope these options will help!
@@DrewBrashler you rock, Drew! I really appreciate the response. I’m thinking I had it routed right but just a limitation on the x32 rack itself. I’ll just run another cable from our foh. We might get a dl16 soon so I can get my other cable run back I had ran for other network purposes.
I made a video with Behringer a long time ago on this, but with an SD8 and an SD16. Same idea behind it. Check it out here and let me know if you have any more questions about it! ruclips.net/video/NPDHNcUSYGQ/видео.html
The Midas DL16 and Behringer S16 will work with any AES50 compatible digital mixer that can run at 48kHz or 44.1kHz. Basically, any model of the Behringer X32, any model of the Midas M32, and the Behringer Wing. You are able to run the stage boxes as a snake mode which can allow you to have two of the stage boxes and send channels between the two stage boxes. If you are using the S16 in the snake mode, it would be XLR connections and therefore be able to be used with any mixer.
FYI although the cost is considerably more, the Midas DL251 or the pro series stuff is even better quality preamps. Unfortunately the X/M32 does not have the ability to take advantage of the full capabilities of the preamps because it lacks the controls for trim adjustment that show up on the pro series consoles such as the Pro2C for instance. To be clear, the channel strip has an input level AND a trim control. The point is to sort of emulate the ability of analog consoles to be overdrive and get some saturation from the circuit. Too bad that the M/X consoles AND I believe the Wing as well do not have the controls available to take advantage of this. Still...there is a noticeable difference from a DL16 and a DL251 with regard to audio quality. Maybe (arguably) a bit of overkill with the M/X series consoles?
It has been a few years since I have used the pro series stage boxes with an X32. Audio quality is very good on those units. The tricky part is routing the outputs depending on what model of the pro series you have. I wish I had access to one for making some videos on it! One of these days I will have to track one down to borrow for a bit of time.
Best walk through of this product. They need to hire you to do their run throughs

I also have a question:
A new Behringer S32 stage-box was added to our audio, because our worship room got extended.
Yes, the shielded portion is the most important part! Yikes for having a rental board being delivered that wasn't in functional order!
04:17 using the headphones output to listen to one specific "in" input among the 16 "in" inputs
great, can you please explain how to route my dl16 output to 9-16
thanks
How and when should you update the firmware on the DL16’s?
How about output routing for x32 compact and single DL 16??? Had so many issues
Good video. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Hey my friend i have a question,,i have the x32 can i use the DL 16 stage box but the other 16 channels using the x32 inputs,,,,
Yes. You can have 16 channels from the stage box via AES and set the other 16 to be Local.
Yes it is! Just remember you are limited to 32 channels of your main processing and then 6 auxiliary channels that have more limited processing.
@@DrewBrashler Thanks! Will I have the 16 outputs with two DL16?
Yes you will! Just make sure to set one of the DL16's to the (9-16) +8 mode that I explain in this video.
That's very very good sir.
But i have a question how do I set up a channel in the s16??
Hi Drew! Thank you for very helpful video. Is it possible to combine both S16 & Dl16 to increase inputs? Will it work? Presently, i have S16 setup to X32 compact.
the X32 cannot process more than 32 inputs total.
Hey buddy,
Thanks so so so much for your videos 🙏✝️
Would you be able to dive in to rta and how you use it day to day and for ringing a room?
Or a video on using smart with a X32 if it is possible to use smart on a X32 in a live application.
Cheers
Any chance of taking a swing at the Midas DP48 Personal Mixer?
Hello, can you make a video of the configuration of the DL32 Stage box or the S32 Stage box and how exactly you can sync it to the x32
Yes it does. Connecting either an S16, and SD16, or a DL16 to you X32 Compact will give you 32 total inputs and 16 total outputs.
bom dia DB!!! posso usar um dl32 no palco e usar apenas 24 entradas dele e usar 8 entradas fisicas na minha x32 ?
Hello Drew, please how do I how output sound to my PA speakers from my dl 16, and how do i link my M32 to dl 16 bless you....
Can I use a DL16 or DL32 as a stand-alone interface and record straight to a DAW?
Hi Drew. Thank you for this Video. We are about to install the S32 in our Church. My question is: Do I have to change the routing in each scene we have created so far or is there some kind of an overall functionality to change the routing in general? best regards from Germany. Marcus
Just filter out the routing part of your scenes when you load them, or have a mixer safe on your routing
Did u ever resolve this?
@@zackerysmith1336 yes, it's all within the routing of the console. A little complicated but possible.

Hi Drew is it safe to use a m32r with a s16 stagebox?
Useful video on a potentially confusing topic! One question: are user routings done in X32 edit stored with the scene or is that a global setting?
Stored in the scene but you can filter them (or mixer safe them ) out when you load the scene
wanting to use this with a DL251 would that work?
Drew, when adjusting Gain or any setting at the S16, is that setting " Mirrored " at the X32 ? If so, can the changes be seen in real time at the X32 while being changed ?
It's not mirrored. Gain is adjusted to the preamp that is assigned to a channel. So if channel 1 was local, preamp 1 in the board would get adjusted. If channel 2 is stage box 1, then that would be adjusted. The console knows which preamps to adjust based on the channel routing and sources
So, how can I use a SD16 as a backline stage box, in correlation w a dl16 and x32
Legendary
I have X32Compact and S16. Is it possible to set Out +8 on S16 for a total of 16 buses? That is 8 on the board and 8 on stagebox?
Yes that is possible. Hold the config button on the front of the s16 and scroll to right once to turn on +8 led light. Out 1-8 will be the board. Out 9-16 will be the stage box. Makes sure that AES A 9-16 is set to Out 9-16.
Can you go over your settings for all your drum mics? Gates(with triggers),
Compression, EQ, effects, etc
Thats a great topic. I'll make sure to add that to my list of future videos. Thanks, Josh!
Hi Drew! Thanx for all your efforts to make our life easier. Can you talk about DL251 and DL153 with X32/Compact? How many DL153 units can be daisy chained with X32?
It has been a few years since I have used the pro series stage boxes with an X32. I wish I had access to one for making some videos on it!
Pro series boxes can't be Daisy chained. Dedicated run to a AES port on the console
@@DrewBrashler thanks so much! You are the man!
hello! I have a set of Behringer S32 Stage Box in my hand, suddenly there is no response from 1-8, and 9-32 are all normal, do you know the problem?
Make sure your checking your routing settings
I'm still waiting on a video on how to extract x-live multitracks out of the X-live card. Specifically for pro tools
It's a multichannel WAV file broken up into 4gb chucks. Select them in order and drop into the DAW. Split multitrack to individual items
i'm gathering the same would be for the X32 Rack mount...?
Yes it would!
Routing menu
See I would have thought that you use the AES50 A from the M32 for the first DL16 and the AES50 B for the second DL16. Which begs the question "WHat happens if it is set up that way?"
Can you connect s16 to sd8 all connected to.the x32 ?
It doesn't seem like the gains of the stage box can be controlled from the console or remotely. If so, it's a deal killer for the gigs I do. Small stages with limited access, or larger stages where there is little time between multiple bands teardown/setup.
please tell us about midi on s16, s32, is it possible to transmit a signal from the stage box to the mixer?
My understanding is that when you have the S16 connected to an X32 any MIDI information in and out of the MIDI ports is connecting to the mixer.
You are also able to control +48v and gain settings via MIDI if the S16 is not connected to a mixer.
Works with DAW or something else needed?
When using 2 s16 or 2 dl16 with a x32 and you are using all 32 inputs from the stage boxes which unit has 1-16 and which unit has 17-32 input channels. I know about how to select outputs but how to select inputs?
AES50 chain as shown in the manual
www.manualslib.com/manual/1273824/Behringer-Behringer-Digital-Snake-Sd16-Sd8-Quick-Start-Manual.html?page=4
Don’t forget to match the kz 44 or 48 between the mixer and snake.
Pls talk about how to connt 2wings togther qith out dante card
@@DrewBrashler It does. Thanks
How much better is the audio quality? Is it noticeable?
no its not. save your money and spend on other gear.
The x32 rack is a mixer in of itself. You need to setup the routing for it's Ultranet port in the x33 rack routing
@@DustySeven7 have you been able to test it out before?

Yes, it was a long time ago 😂 I will try.
On the sd16 have a switch out so on the Frist box I put 1-8 and the second box I put 9-16?
Hi Drew! Cat5 or Cat5e cable?
Shielded CAT5e cable
Will this work with any brand mixer
We have the 32 channel version, because we want maximum flexibility.
