    Brilliant 👌.
    Jam baxter - Falling Innit from the same album is, lyrically, one of the finest peices of work ever written.
    Man, they really do need to come back with that sort of madness.

    Six stages, a song by Mowgli has a lil run by jam half way through, which blew my mind. A story from close to where I live. Real genius stuff. Bros got that ukhh head bop! I highly advise seeing some ukhh live, really adds weight to their music! unfortunately it’s hard to hold contact play down, only seen bosh and dike on stage together.

      To be honest, it’s the same with Chester P. Actually, this track has several Chester P like references in the lyrics, I don’t know if he was specifically influential when they wrote the bars or not, but I can hear him quite clearly coming thru with mentions of the 4 horsemen, twice as nice as what I used to be, munching planets etc. People who say lyrics don’t make sense annoy the fuck out of me. Just because it sounds nonsense to someone’s ears doesn’t mean it is, it just means they’re too lazy to try and find meaning. Lyrics with obvious meanings are easy and, in my opinion, can be a bit boring. The greatest lyrics are ones that can mean multiple things to multiple people. For example, you could easily say The Beatles wrote nonsense with Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, or I am the Walrus, but do most people really care? No, they try and find a meaning in those songs which is relevant to them, but for some reason in Hip-Hop people get their knickers in a twist when they cannot figure out a literal interpretation on the 1st listen!

    I read a lot, especially classics and I legit think Baxter might be one of the greatest writers of any kind alive right now. His catalogue is a universe unto itself. I'd love to see you do his track 'Grenadier' from way back when he was aged about 19 and you'll get an idea of how next level gifted and unique this guy really is.

    Whilst you're on CP can I suggest:
    News to me
    Death of a prick (part 1 & 2)
    Falling innit
    Also to keep the UK HH journey moving, I wanna drop in a guy called Verbz. Massive underground talent with oldschool vibes. Recommend: Gutter Tales, Days like this, Kemptown Blues.

    I have a question for you Mr Canadian dad, why English hip hop? It's pretty much ignored by everybody, not respected stateside and is probably a bit of a chore to understand the patois if you're not from here. I for one appreciate your respect for our rap but I just wanted to know how you got into it?

    • @CanadianDadReacts
      @CanadianDadReacts  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for asking. A friend of mine had for years suggested I listen to it, but I was like a lot of other HH fans over here. When the covid lockdowns happened, I needed a creative outlet and decided to create a youtube channel. I asked my daughters what I should do and they suggested a reaction channel. I chose to try UKHH and film a reaction to it. Since then, close to four years now, it is the only music I listen to. For my money, nothing touches it.
