WCU, Cullowhee and Sylva were generally some of the luckier ones in this region as the worst rains were to our east around Asheville and farther west over in TN. We were not as hard hit as WNC areas to our east such as Asheville and directly surrounding counties. Some of us off campus lost power, and water but not for long. Those on Campus mostly kept their electric on and water running thanks to our great utilities and teams. We lost cell service and internet, but WCU were able to get reduced but usable network connection on within a couple of days thanks to WCU's IT department. The land lines remained on throughout and have been a lifeline for many to let their loved ones know they were safe. The supermarkets are open, the roads are clear, Walmart has been able to take card payments throughout, and now the regions internet connection and cell service is restored things are beginning to return to normal.
What if student can’t get back to campus. We lost our house so my child is trying to help their family climb out of the nightmare. But classes back on Monday 😮? They need another week to help their families in Hendersonville.
You have no idea how awful things are in surrounding communities. They have done an amazing job keeping kids safe and figuring things out. You sound like an ass demanding more.
My daughter lives at river walk apartments and when she left on Sunday there was no running water. Is there running water at the surrounding apartments near WCU???
Yes obviously not the water you take a shower with but anythingyou drink or go Walmartand get a Brita if there is some typeof car if available. @@sandytruby5691

I think they're figuring that out. As stated in the video, they are going to let people know of updates as soon as they have more information....

@@sandytruby5691Yes there is a boil advisory. But there has always been running water at riverwalk
