I had 5 generations of my family work at Cowans Sheldon here in Carlisle. Shame we don’t make anything like this anymore, but nice to think one of my relatives may have worked on building this crane back in the day
That steam crane is in a shocking condition , let’s hope that the new carers give it the attention it deserves . Another excellent video mate , I’m glad I subscribed .
Thanks Richard, probably only cosmetically restored, but at least it will be saved and look good. Yes, especially when you see some car drivers trying to back in a space. I was interested to see how they stopped the traffic when reversing out.
It's easy! The obvious, easy spelling is American. The difficult, inconsistent and odd way is usually British. An exception is "faucet" instead of tap!

Wow, 5 generations. That's a long time! It is a nice thought.

Thanks Kenneth. Yes let's hope so, it's been sad to see it being left out and neglected
Great video Phil what a skill to manoeuvre those vehicles. Shame to see it leave Crewe but best of luck to the team at the Lancashire Mining Museum.

Is everything leaving Crewe?
No, not everything
Wow the steam crane that’s amazing
It is, not many left.
Looking forward to seeing it it use one day! :-)
Me too
Very good - but isn't it "Heritage Centre"?
Thanks Alan. Yes you are right. I got it right on the video :-). It's one of those words, I can never remember which is the right spelling.

Haha, very true of the British language, I'll remember that!
c'est cidre not cider.
Far to big to be transported by road Blocking the M6 and minor roads causing delay and distress to hundreds of motorists and families. Xmas time to.
You could hardly move it by rail!!
@@peterstanton5318 That is the function it was designed for. A desil engine could tow it with ease. I take it you have interests in road haulage.
Might be somewhat out of gauge for the WCM L?
