I just saw the iPhone X in person today and I completely forgot the notch was there. It was a lot smaller in person, at least in my opinion.

iPhone X's aspect ratio is 19.5:9, compared to some other smartphones with 18:9. I'm attributing this to the notch space.

Once you mentioned the portless challenge, I realized was doing it without noticing. I bought 2 $10 QI chargers right before I got the phone and one stays on my desk and one in my kitchen and I set my phone down on them. My phone almost always has a full battery at home, so I guess it wouldn't be so bad if they removed the port since I have never plugged my iPhone X in since I got it.

aeriose I still have to use the cord to connect my iPhone to my mac, because of music I buy on other platforms when iTunes doesn‘t have them. Another thing is that many iPhone users only have an iPhone and use a more affordable windows laptop, which doesn‘t have Airdrop and that‘s also a situation where you need to connect the iPhone via a cord. I think it‘ll take at least 3-5 years for Apple and other companies to even consider removing all ports altogether on their smartphones

Colton carroll Apparently as soon as it says iPhone X or Apple it gets demonetized, this is happening to all the RUclipsrs, clearly google has programmed the system to try to stop them from advertising for Apple. Are we really surprised that google would do this, this is the company that a few years back was caught with google chrome programmed to listen in our homes while we were on the internet. They also got caught hacking the privacy settings of safari on Apple computers and are in court over that one and most recent the google home mini was released where it was listening to everything in your home and uploading it all to the cloud, google called that a software error (ya right big brother).

To comment on the camera: I watched several comparison Videos and I don't think there is a clear winner...
I like that the iPhone 8/x seems to take way more saturated and brighter Pictures than the iphone7 did (I think most flagships took better Pictures than the iPhone 7). I don't care at all about those 60fp. But those colours and the brightness are noticeable and I really like them.
But I'm afraid I have to say it's a shame that the iPhone does not take the best front Portraits. It is the only phone with Hardware to do so. It has one year of experience from the iPhone 7+. Why is Google >>SO MUCH

To start I’m fully in the Apple Ecosystem, I’ve got a MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone 7Plus, 2 Apple TV’s, my wife and daughter both have a iPhone 7Plus and my wife has a iPad Pro also, our daughter has my old iPad. Even though I think that there are many things about the iPhone X that are amazing the portrait mode for the front facing camera being that it’s still so in bata Apple should have kept it only in the bata version of the software until they had it working properly. Why give users bad candy!
Now being that Apple has just produced a phone that can outperform there MacBook Pro that’s twice the price I argue that the iPhone is not really what is over priced but if companies can pack that much power in our pocket our laptops and desktop computers are far to expensive!

C G I also have an iPhone 7 Plus 128. At first I didn’t want to switch to the X because my 7+ still worked well. But then I was like what the hell why not.
I say go for it. I’m still waiting for my X and it’s due to arrive in December.
C G, I love my iPhone X as an ex 7+ user. It is a great switch and will not at all feel small or odd. I found it way more comfortable and easy to hold, but that’s just me.

Both my banks TSB and Monzo have added Face ID support to their Apps here in the UK 😊 and I know many others have too.
One thing I like to mention while so many people are complaining about the missing quick charger: as an engineer I know that batteries don’t like to be charged fast. So this could be a reason for not including a the quick charger.
They want to safe our batteries.

The calibration is also very important, Apple calibrated the screen to make it look more natural than Samsung's over-saturated ones, thus making it the best display ever on a smartphone according to DisplayMate.
Apple certainly did not perfect the oled screen. Samsungs oled displays on their phones are the best. And if we're talking oled screens in general they're definitely way behind

Chris Morris and what is the main part? The only thing apple did was tell the display via software how much brightness is allowed be and which colors it should show. The masterpiece behind it is the amoled technology. Samsung is by far the biggest manufacturer, they quasi invented it they put a lot of research time and money into their displays. The praise belongs 90% to Samsung.
Laura98423 That’s simply not true. There’s a lot more to it than just tweaking software. TSMC manufacture the A11 chip, but it’s still designed and engineered by Apple. Apple don’t manufacture the phone, Foxconn does, but we don’t say that it’s Foxconn’s phone.
I’m not saying Samsung don’t deserve props for being the only company able to manufacture at Apple’s quality requirements and specifications, especially at the scale Apple requires. I’m just saying that it’s not an off-the-shelf Samsung display.
To be honest I don't think anyone knows how much exactly apple did in this process. I'm sorry for mentioning a number.
I just see that last year's Pixel and Pixel xl had an amoled Screen from Samsung and everything was good. Now this year the bigger one Comes from lg and they had tons of issues. But I can't imagine Google unlearned how to calibrate a good Screen when last year they had a good Screen.
Samsung is not only the one that owns the factory- they are the Brains behind it. I don't think apple came up with anything new there in the Hardware department. I guess Samsung knows what's possible (concerning form, thickness, brightness, Pixel density, Resolution etc) and then Apple told them what they want and Samsung made it. Metaphorically speaking: Samsung is the cook and apple chose what they want to eat out of a ceratin range of options.
But again- I don't think that anyone truly knows- This is just what I think based on what I've read and heard. Sorry for mistakes, I'm not a native Speaker.

That's a fair point about the Google Pixel and the LG display. For what it's worth, LG make fantastic OLED TV's. It's as if LG dominate the large-screen OLED displays and Samsung dominate the smartphone OLED displays. I'm surprised Google allowed the LG display to get past any quality checks, to be honest. It's surprising that they let it ship.
As for Apple coming up with new hardware, they do have plenty of patents on OLED displays. I don't think they're sitting back and letting Samsung do all the work. I don't know how much Apple did, but I do know that they were telling the early reviewers that the display is an Apple engineered and designed display through and through. One source to back this claim is Daring Fireball's "The Talk Show" podcast, episode 206. I've heard it from multiple reviewers, though.
OLED has been evolving for decades with contributions from companies ranging from Sony, to Samsung, to Apple, and more. From what I've read - and I need to do more research on this - Universal Display Corporation might actually have been the company that laid the foundation upon which Apple engineers worked.
Laura98423 I don't think you understand what "manufacture" means. To dumb it down for you, Apple invented, created, and designed the display. Then, gave it to Samsung so that they can mass-produce it.

I definitely agree about what you were saying in about the last 4 minutes of your video. There hasn't been a design change like this in years and there probably won't be like this one for awhile at least. I can't afford and am very happy with my iPhone 6s so I'm grateful for your honest review not only as an Apple Sheep, but as a tech reviewer in general. I tried the iPhone X at Best Buy the other day and I definitely felt the "magic" of using an iPhone again after trying the iPhone X out at Best Buy, anyways thank you for your awesome channel and I'll see ya on the next one ;D.

Great review, but I wish you focused on the software a little more. I'm loving my iPhone X as well, but it's a shame that such amazing hardware is hindered by unpolished software and performs some day to day tasks slower than the competitors (partially due to third party apps not being updated yet).
RAM management seems to have gotten worse compared to the 7 plus, and we don't even need to mention the state of iOS 11 before 11.1. Don't get me wrong, the software still works "good enough" for day to day usage, but we should expect better than that from Apple. Apple doesn't play the spec game (for good reason), but if they aren't going to release optimized software, than maybe they should. It's a little reminiscent of the Apple Maps launch.

Andrew, love your videos but if I can make a suggestion, it might be time to change your background music. Not expecting you to use anything that will get your videos flagged, but I know there is a ton of non copyrighted material out there. Good luck hope this is able to be monetized.

Garrett Reider I prefer lighting because it’s small and when you plug it in. It stick much better but the problem is apple charge money for the one who produce much more than usb and that the reason it’s not universal like (universal SB)
