Hey Ernie. The radial flow settlers work a little better than the swirls from what I've read & from what folks that have tried both tell me. I found them just as fiddle as Bell siphons so didn't add any into the beds permanently. I did find that they drained the bed a bit slower than the bells but I think I could have fixed that if I played around with it enough. 👍 Have used the socks in the past in an aquaculture build & found they worked well. I am looking to setup a small backyard IAVS system and i'm having some trouble finding any good information about it. Do you have any experience? Are you interested in trying it out? Thanks for making great informative videos.
Hi Renton. From what I'e read the stocking rate is lower with iAVs so don't think I'll be starting one soon. Might incorporate a similar sand bed into a future system though to help with the processing of solids. Cheers.

Hello Rob. I've been watching your RUclips videos for awhile. It's gotten me interested in creating my own system. I'm building a large dug down greenhouse. A suggestion to avoid the solid build up, is like you said. Putting different grades of filter mesh on top of eachother. With a very fine first and coarser down the line. That way, those at teh bottom survive for longer than the top one. But, you can potentially wash/hose the top one, a lot more often. For example, use an old t-shirt or similar that doesn't seem too thickly woven for a fine filter capture.
I had a filter sock on there for a while but it clogged up very quickly. By the look of it these pads could probably do withe a clean off later today. 👍 Am also getting some 100 micron screen to make a bit of a cone sieve to go over the top to see how that goes for us. Cheers mate & have a top one.

The sales clip goes for 20min & you still have no idea what you're buying at the end of it. From what I gleaned from the clip & reading others posts I'm guessing that is selling a soil hydro system. In it he's using his own special soil mix & compost tea brew as bait. I suspect he may also be using IM/EM as well. Cheers. Don't use imperial here & must have read the wrong line on the chart.
are you concerned about the co2 in ya little plastic grow houses?
Not at the moment as I open them up every hour or so. Will be getting a small fan to turn on periodically with a timer though. 😉
Cheers Jason.
Okay, the midroll ads are getting ridiculous. I just got one with a guy leaning right in to the camera so his face was fullscreen yelling to STOP watching aquaponics videos. Er... no. Naff off, twerp from groweverywhere dot com
get youtube premium , no ads at all
yeh got 7 of those in a row , him and his super green monster growing setup ...
@@davecannabis That's why I never saw it. 😉👍
Hi Mel. I was sure I responded to this yesterday but I can't see the post now. 🤔
I was having issues adding his URL's to the block list. Found out adsense doesn't like ad blockers so added them once I turned it off yesterday.
He's another Click Funnel entrepreneur.
He also misses that fact that most folks grow with aquaponics for the fish.😉
Hope you folks are doing OK with all the wild weather down there.
@@christopherstaples6758 I see them on Facepalm. 😕 Left a comment on his page but he never responded.... 😁🤔
