    so far its been
    3 teams from 3 nations in 3 years
    Stormers/S.Africa (22) Munster/Ire (23) Glasgow/Scot (24)
    *interesting note
    all the other finalists were South African teams❗❗❗

      @@ClutchRugbyXV Even as a South African I really don't care that much. Despite what some Frenchmen say, it is turning into an amazing league with some outstanding performances - I mean for heaven's sake, Glasgow going to Loftus to win the title last season was just fantastic (even if their coach is a Saffer) - and a sign that it's going to get better and better. Great for rugby all round. Long may both the URC and rugby union keep on an upward path.

    Totally agree that the URC is the best league in the world, and the Saffer teams have added a whole new level of play to all the teams. For Glasgow to win at Loftus in the last final (OK, OK with an SA coach!) was great for the game as a whole, the URC as a whole, and was a fantastic game itself!! Long may it continue to go higher and higher.

    • @08padam
      @08padam 2 месяца назад +3

      Explain to me how it can be the best league in the world yet the last 4 champions cup are French, and 3 of the last 4 challenge cup belong to Top14 clubs, all that while having the longest league with actual relegation, meaning that low ranked clubs actually play every game like if it was a final to them. Not to mention the average crowd attendance nor the TV rights and audience

    • @08padam
      @08padam 2 месяца назад +1

      @@stevedavidson666 Well once again they get bullied by French clubs in the champions cup (while they play much more games in their domestic league), the TV rights are nothing compared to Top 14, which is a proper league with relegation. And how can the world champions be that bad at elite club level then ? They didn’t even reach a semi. Appart from Leinster, all the top clubs in the champions cup are French.

    • @stevedavidson666
      @stevedavidson666 2 месяца назад +2

      @@08padam So what? The SA club teams do incredibly well in the URC, while the so-called European Championship seems to be falling apart. In fact, the Bulls sent a B team to play Northampton last season in the QF because the URC was far more important to them, and they went on to lose an amazing final in Pretoria against the staggeringly good Glasgow team (coached by a South African) who just today only lost to the Sharks in Durban by 4 points. Sorry mate, but your rugby really isn't up to much. And you couldn't even win your home ground RWC by cheating South Africa out of staging it.

    as the Premiership is having problems here's the deal for them joining the URC: they would have to convince Wales first to merge to 2 teams (should be enough from Wales), then 5 English, 5 South African, 4 Irish, 2 Scottish, 2 Italian, 2 Welsh franchises, makes it 20 - every team against eachother once, then make 5 "shields" were they play the return game against eachother - total 23 games + playoffs ..... of course the European Cups would have to be scrapped .... maybe just play the winner of the URC vs the winner of Top14 ..... pretty sure that revised URC would beat the Top14 as the best league in the world .....

      Better choice will probably be an Anglo-Welsh comp. Like how in football the Welsh teams have the chance to qualify for the Premier League.
      But rather than having the Welsh regions joining, revive the Welsh club teams to be the top Welsh teams again, and disband the Regions and add the teams to the Championship for the 1st season, then the top 4 of the Championship that qualify with the premiership requirements advance to the Premiership

    I honestly thought the SA teams would struggle more in this competition given that so many of our top players play for overseas clubs. So in a way this has also helped SA's development of younger players since they have to step up to a higher level quicker. Of course with more money in it for SA franchises, SA may be able to keep more of their top players at home (although we are not there yet as players like Arendse for example is leaving to play in Japan for the season whilst still contracted at the Bulls).

Toulouse also had expansion plans to go to 40,000 but that fell through. This one i am not a familiar with but I believe Toulon vs Toulouse get around 40,000 in Marseille stadium.
      La Rochelle would expand, but don’t have the space. A large proportion of the 16,000 seats are season tickets, for which the waitlist i’ve heard is about 2 years. However there are sadly clubs the complete polar opposite like Newcastle and Sale who get around 5,000. And zebre even less

    Your initial comparison is biased: you're comparing attendance averages to a the attendance to single match. This makes no sense. As others have noted, Irish teams can fill large stadiums. The same goes for French teams: the last Top14 final attracted 80,000 people (and twice as many could have been sold out if the stadium had been bigger). The impact of South African teams on the European championship is poor. More travel, too many matches, teams that let games slip away if they don't feel they can qualify. No SA team have reach semi-final yet. They just don't exists on European scene.

    The NZRU have always been incredibly arrogant, and I hate to say, quite crooked at times (as in their ref, Bryce Williams cheating the Boks out of a semifinal place in 2011 by his pathetic reffing in the GF against the Aussies, a much easier opponent for the winless-for-20-RWC-years ABs in their home RWC) and really deserve all they're not getting at the moment. Stewing in their own juice.

    The disrespect for South Africa is real, and we always have the last laugh.
