Palin - "So, are you British Nigerian?" (Since he hears a British accent)
Nigerian (with British accent) In Polo Club - "No, I am Nigerian Nigerian"
An authentic Nigerian answer. 😂🤣 🇳🇬❤

If anyone were to traverse the length and breadth of Nigeria, you just might be travelling through many nations within this ONE COUNTRY. From the shores of the Atlantic Gulf of Guinea and the Bight of Biafra, the mangrove swamps, rivers, and tributaries of the Niger Delta will usher one into the Equatorial rainforest which expands from the South East to the South West. Heading Northward, both the Guinea and Sudan Savannas begin the Middle Belt region also known as the FOOD BASKET of Nigeria. The Jos Plateau elevates the landscape to over 3,000 metres above sea level which introduces a sort of montane climate and vegetation which is cooler relative to the humid and hot South, as well as the dry and hot North. The Adamawa Plateau is further North of the Jos Plateau, both of which form the highest peaks in Nigeria.
Beyond these peaks are the Sahel Savanna and the fringes of the Sahara Desert where nomadic cattle herders migrate Southwards with their herds of cattle to find grazing lands. All the thousands of tribes and ethnicities in this country have a diversity of cultures and tongues which contributes to the vibrance and wealth of Nigeria.

Been looking forward to this and i do like Michael Palin's series.
    BUT
I was underwhelmed by the programme yesterday (16 April)
There was nothing new or revealing just the same old narrative.
Imagine going to Tarkwa beach and no one is there (Tarkwa is a town in Ghana by the way) 😃
He mentioned Lekki but only showed a stock image of a cruiser in the water. Lagos a gigantic city is a lot more than this !
Not that i want to see superficial opulence and ostentatious excess.
But the fact slums, poverty etc were the main theme. And there were big omissions of better things in Nigeria means so far it is nothing new from the same old drivel.
We dont need people to tell us we have problems but sometimes focus on what is great about our wonderful continent.
Hopefully the subsequent episodes will do better but not feeling optimistic.
    Stick to Wode Maya
As our cousins say Na wa oh !

Northern Nigeria is more than just an "ISLAMIC NORTH". Northern Nigeria is rich in cultural as well as religious diversity. Southern Nigeria on the other hand, is predominantly Christian, yet, there are pockets of adherents of Islam especially in South West Nigeria, in addition to cultural diversity just as in the North. So, it's a bit naive to describe the North as entirely "ISLAMIC".
