    Hi Sam. So lovely that you have a fjällräven kånken. 😊 The brand started here in my hometown Örnsköldsvik in Sweden. Its a bit funny because at my birthday two weeks ago I got a knitting bag from hide and hammer. If I knew maybe I just wish for a kånken instead. It seems that you have all the essentials. I do also have a smaller (mostly socks) project and a bigger project (usually sweaters) with me. I knit at work in lunch time, in the forest at hikes, in the car and allways when the rest of the family watching horror movies 😂 like now. Thanks for a lovely podcast. 🧶🧦

    This was fun to watch. This may sound crazy or gross to some, but I use nail clippers to break my yarn. A couple handy things you may want... of course, retractable tape.. I like the one by Clover brand - it's called Shiro tape. I also can't do without the mini kacha kacha row counter by clover - it's green and small and very useful to have. So helpful when counting rows and pattern repeats. I like Clover darning needles because they come in a small screw top container. Also, the container is large enough for many needles.
    Your pouch is so cute. It would be nice to do a video on how you made it.
    Happy travels!

    Hi Sam, great video. Love seeing how you pack for travel. I don't travel a lot any more. But I do have several projects on the go at the same time. So if I'm ot well Organized, I'm always looking for something. I have a small box my phone came in. This is my essential box. I keep stitch markers, cable holders, needles and a few other small things. In a larger plastic container about 12 x 8 inches , I keep notebooks, to keep track of each project... measuring tape, pens , stitch counter, etc.
    This stays with me regardless of the project I'm working on. Each are separate in their own bag...with their pattern, needles.
    Good luck with your goals

    Hi Sam
    I just travelled back from the US, I took my 9 inch circulars on board but I'm afraid I wasnt brave enough to try an bigger needles. I would be so annoyed if they were taken from me. Good Luck with your trip and happy knitting ☘

  • @3rdand105
    @3rdand105 2 года назад

    The only thing I would add to your bag would be Band-Aids. I use Chiaogoo needles, and sometimes, if I'm not careful, I can stab either index finger (the smaller needles seem to be sharper than the others). Then again, I may be knitting too agressively...in any event, this was never an issue with aluminum needles, because they get dull after a few projects. Once I switched to better quality needles, it was like having to learn to knit all over again. I carry both the regular and small circular bandages, depending on the area the wound is in. Safe travels!

    • @irishfarmart

      That’s a very good suggestion! Also I find if I don’t have scissors sometimes breaking yarn by hand may get those annoying little cuts

    Great little video. I think you have everything covered. I also like to use needle stoppers for the ends of my knitting especially when travelling. I just find it protects the stitches slipping off, which can happen all too easily as the bag gets jostled about when on the go. 💜

    Excellante Sam. Lovely seeing what’s in your bag. Having just come back from a jolly I have emptied my large knitting bag and apart from two paper knitting patterns ( which were free from a magazine and one small knitting pattern book) we have about the same things. My only difference is in each of my knitting project bags I have a little bag with the accessories in. So that I only need to grab one bag if we were going out and in that bag I know I have my tape measure, needles, pins, and my knitting g I want to take with me etc. - all that I need if I have time to sit and knit whilst out. It works for me and I do the same at home. Each project bag has the little bag with the accessories in. You must be ready to go home soon so have a lovely time and look forward to hearing g from you soon.
