Great video. Most other “before you buy” videos on RUclips about the RS people seriously don’t have a clue what they are talking about. You covered every detail about what I went through when I bought my RS. Good job!
I had the head gasket problem but didn't realise until the car stopped running. It was just out of warranty but Ford covered it but I'm not taking the chance and sold it.
I got my Focus ST brand new in dec 2018. I got is as a cheap car when my 335 M-Sport lease was over. I didn't want the RS because it defeated the purpose of going cheap. Had I known the car market would take the turn it has, I would have gone RS. BTW, @ 55k miles I got another engine in the car under warranty. My pipes were dirty all the time, but now they stay more clean with the replaced engine.
i dont fuck around, every car i buy, change all fluids , i change the oil, i throw in 2 cans blue devil head gasket repair, havent had a head gasket blow ever
Good video love my RS. I do disagree with you saying if your looking for a fast man car this isn’t it though. I’m full bolt on and race often, I’ve yet to lose a race these are fairly fast cars with a few bolt on’s and a tune. Currently tuned through JTS but might switch to Stratified when I put the WMI in. See how they tune.
Any car can be made fast, but with the initial investment of $35~45k for the car itself, then another $10k to have the engine built to handle the power you're at $45~55k if not more just to make around 450whp on pump gas. That is 13/14 GT500 money and with just a pulley and tune you're making 650whp all day on 93 pump gas.
@@OctaneSlain you would make more then 450whp. With the meth I’ll be around 420whp alone. But I do understand your point. A stock 2013 gt500 runs around 11.6 or so. A built RS will easily do that. I should be around a very low 12 pretty easily with the WMI and pump gas.
Wow that's crazy to hear about Adam Brunson. Is this really true!? Anyone else have similar experiences? I'm in the search for a built long block and of course will need tuning.
Nice Video I have a 2017 Rs Shadow Black this Baby had 49k This Car still Rock solid No leaks no issues how so ever I service my own Rs I change the oil every 3 months Is so quite I'm planning to tune my Rs Randy Robles is going to tune in may Car what bolt ons you Recommend I will appreciate you Recommendation thank you
Any questions I should ask a dealer that is specific to this car? I'm looking at one from a dealer that mainly sells exotic cars I'm assuming the one I'm looking to buy is a trade in. I don't know if they are shady or not.
Out of THREE tuners that I am personally going through, he is the last person I would recommend to anyone. With him, he only suggests to throw parts at my car. He has suggested parts that have cost over $300, on top of a "Misfire Monitor Profile Correction" procedure I had to have done at a Ford dealership. Everything has been done, exactly as he suggested... And his tune it's absolute garbage. Undriveable. I regret spending the money with his tune. His communication is piss poor on top of it all. Revisions take 7 days to get. Which is UNACCEPTABLE when the base maps can't be driven on. If I was strictly using him, and him only, I would have been in a car that I couldn't safely drive. Not only that but it would remain undriveable for months. Because each revision he sends me... They get worse! And he's only suggestion is to throw parts at it that even he is unsure will fix my problem. Which, by the way, is STRICTLY tuning related. Because BOTH Randy with Tunewerks and Ryan with PD Tuning have given me base maps that are actually good enough to drive on. Randy Robles has by far been the best of the 3. Extremely responsive, revisions take days not weeks, and he really seems to actually dig deep into your personal needs for the vehicle instead of pulling an off the shelf tune like Adam does. He may be good for basic bolt-ons, but for built or big turbo cars... Absolutely not.
Spine crunching ride Only three settings. To hard. Murder. Death. Not to be purchased as a daily driver. Other than that it's a fantastic car which handles like nothing on earth. That is all.....
This is the best buyers advice video I’ve ever seen on the focus RS.

As a RS owner this is a great video
This is the most accurate and detailed big issues for the RS.
I had the head gasket problem but didn't realise until the car stopped running. It was just out of warranty but Ford covered it but I'm not taking the chance and sold it.
So the gasket wasnt a design issue but it was accidentally swapped with the mustang eco boost engine. Similar but different
Im planning to buy one soon 2018 6.663km blue with akrapovic exhaust thank you for this video!!❤
Thanks for the heads up.
Excellent video 👍

How long have you owned this animal of a hatchback?

I wouldn't trust him to tune a leaf blower.
What engine block and cold air intake is that?
Man, i so so much love the front of this car but the back......
I need to know where u got those lug nuts and top rack!

I would just recommend the basic bolt ons: intake, exhaust, oil catch can, and definitely a tune by Randy

are they reliable daily drivers if i get a used 2018
Yeah but I feel new cars in general are not like the older cars.
How much can you make on a stock block with an E85 and cat delete ??
For numbers on a piece of paper or a reliable engine.
Heritage Edition?…
What is a heritage edition?
@@OctaneSlain Last of the focus RS production, special editions. Only so many produced. Not sure if they were only available in the UK?…

About the most common sense RS vid I've seen. Hey ya these are not the strongest blocks just look at pics of them.
