Only wins when he's ignored. - Not sure the issue with Minello Indo - maybe he and Rachael just can't get into a rhythm or maybe he hated the track. Can't have that he just went too quick, as he'd still have been in there pitching 2 out if he was on his game even if he went too quick. - Chantry House never at it, again maybe it was the track as he was ridden on the turns. Never jumped. Would pretend it never happened for his next race. - Clan Des Obeaux ran a great race for seaonal reappearance and though probably wouldn't have seen it out as well as the winner anyway, the fact he was taken on by his stablemate as they were quickening off an already strong pace didn't help. - Sheehan simply lost his mind on Saint Calvados. Panicked on the big stage when realising he was going well. Taking it up that far out off a strong tempo on an unconfirmed stayer making his first start in 300 days was absolutely absurd. It isn't just talent in horses the British are lagging so far behind the Irish on, it's the jockeys too. - Asterion Forlonge ran another good race until unseating/falling. Mullins said Tornado Flyer was idling but I thought Asterion would get close if jumping the last clean. He may never put it all together, or he may do the Fairyhouse/Punchestown double. You would just never know with this horse.

Tornado Flyer was always a very decent horse,and was overlooked. I remember him chasing home Min in last year's John Durkin chase. Great to see Willie Mullins train the winner again .
Classed as Mullins second string, but would WM send a 2nd string horse to a king george ? Totally agree he was overlooked. I had him in my lucky 15 and also in a e/w single bet.

Wow, This was a good field, but some strange rides. How many horses went for home too early. A lot of complaining about the winner, but he obviously improved for going 3 miles. If he did not turn up noone would be complaining.
The only horse that went too early was Minella Indo. Blackmore couldn't have done a better job if losing was the intent. She should be investigated for that ridiculous ride.

Indo will be different horse at Cheltenham. He is good, but not amazing. Saint Calvados definitely needed to be switch off till the last fence, Brust to the front too early. . Laid out for this, only this and the Ryan air are targets. He bearly stays 3 miles. Clan de Obreaux needs to be ridden with confidence. He was in second way too early.this is his target race annually as well. Only the greats.win here and at Cheltenham. Its harder for a guineas winner to win the Derby. Indo is no great, although very good. The winner looks like getting back here next year will be the target. Aintree and Punchestown might be better targets then Cheltenham in the spring. He will be campaigned to win here next year. Gone are the days of Desert Orchid we're every decent Handicap and champion race was a target and he raced 9+ races a year. . Top horses have 1 maybe 2 targets a year today. ,
And so to the signature festive race, the King George VI Chase as Frodon (title holder) looked to give Paul Nicholls his fifth multiple winner since 1997. Frodon led most of the running, jumping well but unfortunately, the rest were closing including Tornado Flyer, the eventual shock winner, Asterion Forlonge fell at the last, it has happened before in previous renewals. So the King George goes to the Emerald Isles and Willie Mullins has waited two hundred and forty months to win a second King George VI Chase. Al Boum Photo did him good winning back to back Cheltenham Gold Cups and Tornado Flyer flies into the 2022 Gold Cup reckoning.
Be the worst gold cup ever at Cheltenham all the likes of kauto and Denman are hard to replace and desert orchid this gold cup is no better than a decent hcap chase the quality is not there no more in this division with gold cups in the past it’s embarrassing

I said it before Rachel and Millena Indo don’t get on together. But what was she thinking riding Indo so hard over the first couple it like she never done it before shocked I was. I just hope fame hasn’t gone to her head. I gave her a chance after the shocking ride on ballyadam the last day out(coming off the bridle so soon and running out the horse). Right from the get go it was clear the pace was too hot and having jumped the 3rd i recalled Desert Orchid and Beu Ranger doing likewise, cutting each others throats with a likewise in Tornado Flyer another unfancied Nupsala taking the spoils. I think some jockeys got the Kempton way wrong in this race.
Giving Sheehan gave a masterclass ride on Saint Calvados to get a horse who was never placed over 3m and clearly a non stayer to finish third.The novice 3 miler an hour earlier was clearly very substandard as Bravemansgame was approximately 12 L Slower than Tornado Flyer who himself is way,way down the ranks in Ireland including novices.

She totally messed up. She shouldn't have ever tried to compete for the pace with Frodon. She had a great opportunity to sit off him and get a nice tow. I don't think Minella would have won anyway as something doesn't seem right but she still messed up.
I would in no way accept the old guff from Willie that tornado flyer was a no hoper and was really making up the numbers to give the owners a day out. This horse ran 3 or 4 weeks ago in the John durkan at punchestown which was a very tough race won by Allaho over two and a half miles. Tornado was never put into the race and was full of running at the finish going by several horses to finish a relatively close fourth. The experts weren't watching.
Trouble is they build the race tv for Bryony and Rachel who end up racing each other. Went off way too fast. Funny race but Danny Mullins kept his head and so did St. Calvados. Shame he cant finish the race off.
