  • How to build a dating app like Tinder?
The societal norms of dating and meeting soul mates have changed considerably in today’s digitized age. The dating app Tinder has caused quite a revolution to the dating scene with its iconic swipe. As more and more people spend time on smartphones, apps that cater to all aspects of life have been developed.
Tinder is available in 190 countries in over 40 languages and commands a total of 50 million active Tinder profiles. As the number of people with smartphones increases so does the demand for dating apps.
There are numerous dating apps that have flooded the market since Tinder launched. Thus, it is paramount that you have a USP to your app.
    unique selling proposition:
It starts with groundwork. Do thorough research of apps that are already available in the market like Bumble, okcupid, match, etc. and how can you make your app stand out. For example bumble is unique because the women have to be the ones to send the first message, an app like Match is unique because you have to pay so candidates are theoretically more serious. Understanding the competition will give you the niche to develop a product that people want. Let us look at the features and technical aspects of creating an app like Tinder.
If you have watched any of our other How To Make An App Like videos you already know the importance of creating a minimum viable product to test the market and collect data early on
    Key Features:
    1. User Profile
One of the essential features for a dating app. A user should create a profile by generating a login. Personal profiles allow for other users to engage. The profiles are collected as part of the data for the algorithm to match users with each other.
    2. Geo-Location
Tinder extensively uses location to match people, make suggestions, and do interest-based matches. This is the reason a person from Paris does not get matched with a person in Sydney.
    3. In-app Interaction
Once two people get matched the next step for them is to get to know each other. A chat in a safe and open environment gives them the opportunity to do so. Sharing images and talking on voice or video chat is also an option. Easy communication in real-time can really make all the difference.
    4. Search
A robust search-filter will allow users to share their gender preference, and other specifics, etc. as they get more accurate searches.
    5. Inclusivity
This feature will open your app to a wider audience. People of any race, age, body size, gender, socio-economic status, sexual orientation should be able to login and enjoy every feature with equality.
Other functionalities like Security, Push notifications, Social media integrations, profile setting should be added to the app.
    Tech Stack:
    1. Programming Language - Java, Kotlin and Swift, JavaScript, Python, HTML5
    2. Frameworks - Node.js, Express.js, Next.js, React Router
    3. Database - PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis
    4. Cloud Storage - Amazon S3
    5. Web servers - Nginx
    6. Payment Gateway - Stripe, Paypal
    7. Other general utilities - Twilio, Google Maps and Analytics, Elasticsearch, Mapbox
    8. Data and transactions safety - GoDaddy SSL certificates
What algorithms do dating apps work on?
Tinder-like apps use preference or matching algorithms to match two people. It learns from the user data. All the information that the users enter into their profile like their sexual orientation, preference, ideologies, likes, and interests; everything gets stored and used as data to make a match with other users. AI finds people that would be a suitable match based on this data.
In this case, AI is designed to collect all the data and learn from their actions and preferences. Thus, allowing AI to bring together two people with the closest preferences.

The worst experience ever. Tinder is only for men over 6ft tall, rich and incredibly handsome.

Complete sausage fest with nothing but extremely shallow, self centered, greedy women with way to many matches for their own good and terrible personalities. It’s also full of bots, soliciting prostitutes, people who don’t even want you (just match with you for validation). And a bunch of terrible profiles that haven’t even been online for years. There is basically no real verification. And the app works more like a shopping center for women and a thirst trap for men. Men and women are both incentivized to be complete monsters. Unless your male model or just willing to show some cleavage for thousands of thirsty dudes as a women. Don’t even bother. If your looking for a real relationship tinder is a huge waste of time. If your looking for a hook up and you have a solid build are 6+ feet and have a Chiseled physique then tinder might be for you so long as you have confidence. Good luck actually finding love though. Everyone has this app for some reason, but women always claim they don’t 🤷‍♂️. Of the few dates I went on they all acted pretty much the same. Even the best ones were very shallow. With a huge correlation between how hot they were and how many matches they had. The hotter the meaner basically. I thought at first maybe I was ugly or that I just didn’t have enough confidence. But no. Because I was able to ask women out at other places just fine. And women weren’t as shallow. But on this app. Women are literal monsters. Also the fact the ratio between men and women is like 3/1 makes it even worse. Especially since there isn’t a cap on how many matches someone can get. It turns profiles into shopping sites if your attractive enough.
This app kills confidence and had me feeling depressed when I first downloaded it. Even though I’m not even that bad looking of a guy.
My biggest issue with the app is also that it’s extremely shallow in the way it promotes it’s users. If your not rich or look good (or have any tiny flaw). Your penalized by both the app and the users by the way it’s structured.

      @fintelics  3 года назад

There are two ways you can go about it.
      1) You can look to hire your own in-house team
      2) You can hire a development firm.
If you are looking for a development firm to take care of building the app for you feel free to contact me directly at matt@fintelics.com :-)

I have a really good idea for a dating app that will help people find love. That doesn’t turn people into monsters like all the other dating apps. It may not be as profitable but it’s a good idea. 😎

When you do hand gestures when you are not vocalizing words it's kind of distracting. Try to only begin your hand gestures mid vocalization, not just before vocalization.
