0:38 This is actually an quirk of the game’s mechanics called hurtbox shifting (explained in depth here: ruclips.net/video/jlvc27cdWjg/видео.html ). If you just look at immediately after the attack hits (which the game lovingly shows off) it does look like Cloud is way too far away to be hit by Incineroar’s kick. However, if you go back a bit and frame-by-frame to just before that, you can see that it does actually connect, assuming you consider Cloud’s sword part of his hitbox. What happens is that when Incineroar’s attack hits and triggers the freeze-frame, Cloud goes from his up-B animation to his animation for being launched, which combined with him moving downward somewhat during this time, make Cloud look considerably farther from Incineroar than he actually was when the attack landed. This actually happens in all Smash games, and is the source of a lot of silly screenshots, but Ultimate’s killcam or whatever you call it makes it way more visible.
