But yes, many of us (especially the women) didn't celebrate our Independence day. It's because a female doctor in a state named “west bengal”, was being raped and murdered by 18 men, on 9th August 2024. She was doing her night shift as a doctor when this incident occurred...Almost 30% of the people in India are now protesting against the culprits... If you're interested then you can google it. I'm not able to explain it properly but you'll get some more information about it if you google this news 👍🏻.
Being a female, I'm mentally disturbed by this incident 😔.

What does independence have to do with the crimes taking place, independence was a stepping stone towards better future which guaranteed us the right to govern ourselves to protect the right of others. Its us citizens that have miserably failed at questioning our authorities asking for betterment, independence just laid the groundwork it didn't guarantee complete eradication of all social evils, that's for us and leaders to work on. Be mindful of what you say, if we were not independent we would still be under the colonial rule. Do not trivialise both the situations by mixing them.
Instead Demand for better implementation of laws and immediate justice.
